If I were you I would remind her of Hillary's own words, 4 more years of failed Bush policies are simply unacceptable. At the end of the day there are effectively no policy differences between Obama and Clinton. She may be annoyed but at the end of the day you need to bite the bullet and do what is right.

This is largely the reason why he was so behind yet managed to grab the nomination because the party elders considered him their best shot. This is also evidence that McCain is much more competent than it would currently appear because basically he was against stupid Republican policies like the Bush tax cuts among other things i.e the Maverick. They said to McCain if you want to be our candidate you must follow the party line and he has done just that arguing for things it would appear he actually disagrees with personally. I think this really takes the punch and the passion out of his arguments cause he doesn't really believe in it himself. In my opinion they should have gone with Ron Paul but he believes American should abandon their world empire something the policy hawks in the Republican party cannot accept.

On a nation wide level however this simply does not work, there is less mobility of business and businesses choose location based on far more than just tax rates i.e quality of the labor force. Revenues rose under Bush because the economy grew, but expenses also rise with a growing population, their figures also do not take into account inflation. The most important thing is that because of the tax cuts revenue did not increase as fast as it needed too to keep up with sky rocketing expenses. Revenue can easily be increased much faster than it is with no negative economic consequences all you need to do is not give the rich massive tax cuts. They miss use figures to create misleading conclusions to justify incompetent policies, this is just another example.

i found this rant by larry david funny though so i wanted to put it in here because larry david rocks Waiting for Nov. 4th The debates were particularly challenging for me to monitor. First I tried running in and out of the room so I would only hear my guy. This worked until I knocked over a tray of hors d'oeuvres. "Sit down or get out!" my host demanded. "Okay," I said, and took a seat, but I was more fidgety than a ten-year-old at temple. I just couldn't watch without saying anything, and my running commentary, which mostly consisted of "Shut up, you prick!" or "You're a fucking liar!!!" or "Go to hell, you cocksucker!" was way too distracting for the attendees, and finally I was asked to leave. Full Writeup: + Show Spoiler + I can't take much more of this. Two weeks to go, and I'm at the end of my rope. I can't work. I can eat, but mostly standing up. I'm anxious all the time and taking it out on my ex-wife, which, ironically, I'm finding enjoyable. This is like waiting for the results of a biopsy. Actually, it's worse. Biopsies only take a few days, maybe a week at the most, and if the biopsy comes back positive, there's still a potential cure. With this, there's no cure. The result is final. Like death. Five times a day I'll still say to someone, "I don't know what I'm going to do if McCain wins." Of course, the reality is I'm probably not going to do anything. What can I do? I'm not going to kill myself. If I didn't kill myself when I became impotent for two months in 1979, I'm certainly not going to do it if McCain and Palin are elected, even if it's by nefarious means. If Obama loses, it would be easier to live with it if it's due to racism rather than if it's stolen. If it's racism, I can say, "Okay, we lost, but at least it's a democracy. Sure, it's a democracy inhabited by a majority of disgusting, reprehensible turds, but at least it's a democracy." If he loses because it's stolen, that will be much worse. Call me crazy, but I'd rather live in a democratic racist country than a non-democratic non-racist one. (It's not exactly a Hobson's choice, but it's close, and I think Hobson would compliment me on how close I've actually come to giving him no choice. He'd love that!) The one concession I've made to maintain some form of sanity is that I've taken to censoring my news, just like the old Soviet Union. The citizenry (me) only gets to read and listen to what I deem appropriate for its health and well-being. Sure, there are times when the system breaks down. Michele Bachmann got through my radar this week, right before bedtime. That's not supposed to happen. That was a lapse in security, and I've had to make some adjustments. The debates were particularly challenging for me to monitor. Assuming November 4th ever comes, my big decision won't be where I'll be watching the returns, but if I'll be watching. I believe I have big jinx potential and may have actually cost the Dems the last two elections. I know I've jinxed sporting events. When my teams are losing and I want them to make a comeback, all I have to do is leave the room. Works every time. So if I do watch, I'll do it alone. I can't subject other people to me in my current condition. I just don't like what I've turned into -- and frankly I wasn't that crazy about me even before the turn. This election is having the same effect on me as marijuana. All of my worst qualities have been exacerbated. I'm paranoid, obsessive, nervous, and totally mental. It's one long, intense, bad trip. I need to come down. Soon.

I did feel the same when I was young. Then I went to the UK to study and realised that a foreign education, while good, is not all we think it is. The fact is that MOST people who go overseas have scholarships to go to the very best universities full of the brightest in the country and with very rich alumni. Of course they would come back saying that the education system is great! I think the very best universities in America are much better than ours. But the worst ones... so I don't think it's fair to say that the American SYSTEM is better than ours. The fact that we haven't produced a whole lot of leaders is really down to our small size. The lack of opportunities is also down to our small size - our economy is not as varied as America's so you can't expect the same opportunities you get there. If you can go to the best universities in America, you should definitely do so. But you shouldn't idolise the system and go just for the sake of going. Stupid, unimaginative people exist everywhere, not just Singapore.

Also a little preview on the suckyness of socialism, hes a senior engineer at petrobras, our half private/half government big offshore oil digging company. He commands opperations to install the platforms. He invented a new kind of anchoring method that saves 2 billion dollars a year, and a shitload of other stuff, never got an extra penny for it =( edit: Hes very patriotic, but recently has taken tons of solo projects because ... eventually you want to earn some bucks

![]() You hear it on the campaign trail everywhere, but now a NBC/Wall Street Journal poll appears to confirm it. No longer a net asset to the Republican ticket, Sarah Palin may in fact be weighing John McCain down. Those voters crucial to the final outcome n the undecideds and independents - don't quite like her, think her selection was cynical and political and cannot imagine her ever being president. And to make matters worse, details emerged yesterday of the Republican Party splurging $150,000 (NZD$253,000) since Mrs Palin became Mr McCain's running-mate to revamp her wardrobe. Lipstick and Armani on a hockey mum sounds fine, but at that kind of cost? After "troopergate" in Alaska, another mini-scandal attached to Mrs Palin is not what is needed. The Republican Party did not dispute the wardrobe findings of the US website Politico, moreover, and that Sarah Palin is a dumb bitch.

I've been hearing really good things about his presidency and I'm curious to know what it's like on the ground. He seems quite sane, so I guess eventually copyright protection will be implemented in Brazil?

Copyright is implemented, its just not enforced. But theres some things he needed (and promised) to do, that really disapointed me. He promised he would reform our consitution (right now politicians are elected little gods with a shitload of extra rights that only help on corruption) he sayd he would reduce the size of the congress (we have 512 chairs or so right now like wtf 3 senators per state ? who the fuck needs that they dont even manage to vote shit anyway) and rough up on the easiness that it is to be a public server. He increased our already rampaging absurd ridiculous mindboggling economy shrinking senseless taxes under the quote "you gotta spend to government" (guess those 44% wasant enought eh?) He left our public education and public hospitals the shit it was, from his background you would thought he would focus on something more than just jobs and economy. Most (if not all) of his chamber is seen as corrupt populist motherfuckers who are constantly getting fired because of corruption but keep running stuff behind the curtains, but the people see him as some kind of maverick or something that has nothing to do with that (its not that hard to believe, the guy was like a fucking plumber before he became president) He left the amazonian forest a huge fucking mess because he gave many lands there to poor and ignorant people who just sold all the wood they could, then they burned it all to make coal, then went to the government to ask for financial help lawl wtf lol if the guy isnt qualified to handle the land then dont give it to him. Other than that, he invested a shitload in alternative energy, he created programs to support the poors, he improved some colleges (but failed to invest in partnerships with public colleges and the private sector), stabilized our economy... have i mentioned alternative energy ? Thats pretty much it imo, its very important to have a growing economy and energy and stuff, but on the social matters, he just gives alms to the poors and thats it, its depressing =/
