But the real question is have you always felt like this or are you sure it's not the culminating pressures of life coupled with the frustrations of homework etc. I'm the product of a typical Asian household that's been carefully packaged in a way that would be good to sell. AKA, I've always felt this way, I just go through the motions of doing what is expected of me. I'm sure the pressures of life and school may be contributing, but.. I've spent the last.. 10 years feeling like this? (somewhere since early high school...)

I know what makes me feel 'good', but those feelings are fleeting. Everything that I do seems ephemeral and I always wind up coming back to this feeling as though I'm stuck. Well, obviously there has to be some kind of light at the end of the tunnel. If you're coming back to the feeling that you're stuck, then maybe you aren't really progressing towards anything you can imagine happening. Maybe someone has the plan to go live in Europe for a year. So they spend the next year or two in their dead-end job in the States - but they pick a place they want to go, they read up on it and the culture, they take some courses and learn the language, they figure out what kind of work they want to do when they get there and do some training. Yeah, they're still 'stuck' at the moment, but they are consciously putting effort into things each day which will help them get to some place in their life they want to be. I dunno, just an example. But I'm just kind of talking out of my ass since I don't know you at all and every situation is somewhat unique, isn't it? I guess it just sounded somewhat familiar because I often feel the same way - stuck, heading towards nothing, and ultimately not really doing anything about it. I touched on this in my first ever blog and have been working on fixing it ever since. But these are personal questions you aren't likely to find solutions for on a StarCraft forum. I like making other people 'happy' because I don't ever want them to feel how I do. But as even in helping others, I don't do it for me because it just doesn't really gimme that "ahhh, I've done good" feeling, rather it's like.. "oh well, there's another person." Bah, I dunno. Sorry to get all emo - maybe I've been talking to Jamie too much. ![]() Don't trust the Red Coats. Edit: Anyways, there's no build order for life - everyone is different. Anyone who tells you there is a 10 step plan for fixing your state of mind is probably trying to sell some shoddy, poorly written book of his. I think it's just a matter of figuring out what you want in life and setting in motion some kind of plan to maybe get there. Some people want wealth - so maybe they should go to school and work as a stock broker. Some people are hedonists and really need nothing but beer and women. Me, I realized that what I need is complete personal freedom to be happy - not easy to achieve in today's world but worth a try regardless.

Working out doesn't really make me that happy because I don't enjoy it that much. I just do it because I have to do something for my body I guess. Mountainbiking makes me happy though. Might sounds really cliché and tacky, but christmas/new years eve is something that makes me really happy too. Just eating great food, having this great atmosphere in the house just makes me feel happy. Also when I'm free of any pressure from school, like right now. I just had the presentation of my project on school so we're at the brink of a new project (the last one because after this one I'm due for my 'exam-project'). Just the feeling that you don't have school pressuring you because you don't have a lot of time left and stuff makes me happy. Just knowing you don't have much to do and I love teh free time. Can't think of much else right now.

You can't beat a blunt at the end of the day. Esp if you've been drinking. Good convos with friends are cool, so is coming home and flipping through the channels to find a badass movie (i've been home sick for the past two days and have watched fight club, braveheart, predator, aeon flux and an old james bond =]) Good food is also badass, but i need to chill with that cuz my beergut is kicking my ass =[

What makes me really happy though is spending the weekends with my friends, and lots and lots of alcohol. ![]()

Classes are great if you are shy since everyone is there on equal terms, just for dancing. You can skip all the sexual/social stuff you get when you go clubbing.

Plus almost everything in this thread that people have mentioned is just fleeting happiness and feeling good. Obviously I like friends, girls, sex, food, beer, etc. but all of those things are just fleeting happiness. I guess being with a girl I really like is probably the closest I've come to any happiness. That never lasts too long though, at least it hasn't for me. And I like my friends and everything and I wouldn't want to lose them but they don't really give me any 'happiness'. I'd say some of the only things mentioned here that are not (hopefully) just fleeting happiness is a spouse and family and a job you love. Personally I can't really think of any jobs that would actually make me "happy". When I accomplish something like a good test grade that's only fleeting happiness as well, for like maybe 5 minutes. I do of course enjoy the little things and that's what keeps me going. Are you saying Susie that you don't even enjoy all the little things like a good meal, beer, friends, boyfriend/girlfriend, computer games, etc.? Aren't those the things that get you through life at the end of the day? Even if you aren't actually happy you can still enjoy stuff for fleeting moments. If you get to the point where that fleeting happiness isn't enough then that's when it starts to suck; I've definitely been there as well multiple times. So anyway, maybe my little story here can make you feel better about yourself, or at least not alone.
