You're wearing a loose black shirt at night, with some asian guy next to you....lol find a better pic man. As for a 6 pack workout, I still don't understand why you wouldn't just lurk the millions of workout forums out there. Guess the real point of this thread isn't getting a six pack...but the pic you posted hahah....

Contrary to what most infomercials will tell you, it doesn't really matter what you do for your abs as long as you work them, and work all of them (lower and obliques may have to be targeted specifically). I do weighted sit-ups, bicycle crunches, and leg lifts if I'm at home, and at the gym: leg raises, ab machine, and decline sit ups either with a dumbbell, or a 10kg ball to throw up at the contraction of each rep. This way I always get some high rep, low resistance, and some low rep, high resistance exercises. You can also work your obliques on a lower back 45 degree bench.

Here's what you do. 1. Download Ares 2. Search for P90X 3. p90X ab ribber best fuckin workout ever. they do 25 sets of each exercise...i can guarantee you won't be able to do 25, but start with what you can...you'll start noticing your abs in about 3 days...that workout is fuckin killer. Download the whole p90X series, or better yet buy the dvd's. All the workouts are amazing. I bought a resistant band for the other exercises. It's hard but it works so much i'm in love with the whole series. Even got my girl doing it and her body right now is so nice and tight. P90X!!!

The best overall advice i can give you is Work out your abs every chance you get throughout the day. When you wake up and before you go to bed are key. But if you have an hour between class or something try get a couple sets in of crunches, situps, leg raises whatever. Cardio is also a big part of it because not only are you burning fat but you are using your stomach muscles a little bit for the whole run which puts them under pressure etc etc. I had never had a 6 pack before and was like a rock in about 4 weeks after some good work at it. Good luck :D

You want mass Tasteless? Do ab workouts in multiple sets and less reps. Increase weight after each set, so that on your last set, you are dying trying to finish it. This will help you build mass because you are not stretching your muscles so you get toned, you are ripping it hard and when they rebuild, they rebuild big. There are four basic parts of the abs. But really people mostly just notice the 8-pack and the obliques. Also to be safe balance the strength of your abs with lower back workouts. (It'll be pointless having huge ab muscles when your back can't support the abs flexing in front of the ladies.)
Exercises 1. Decline Crunch - Decline Crunch Video - Make sure your back doesn't go down all the way cause that's cheating. I do these in sets of 15 with 0 weight, 5 pound, and 10 pounds. I die on the 10 pound ones. You can also concentrate a twisting motion at the end to work out those abs. If you are hardcore you can try Russian Twists where you are at like a 45 degree angle with your abs contracted, and you twist over and over again. 2. Dumbbell Side Bends - Dumbbell Side Bends Video - This is easy to do but make sure you are bending at your waist. You probably don't need this as much as I do cause I have lovehandles and I'm trying to get them gone. I grab a 45 and just go at it. 3. Leg Raises - These are the ones that work that lower 4 pack. The lower abs are the hardest ones to achieve. There are different ways of doing leg raises. There's one where you can hold yourself up with your triceps and lift your legs up and down. Or you can lie flat on a bench press and just lift your legs up, but make sure you use your abs to lift those legs up and not your hips. I personally like the one where I'm holding myself up, because I can grab a small dumbbell inbetween my feet and make it harder for myself.
If you're looking to make sure you get mass after your workouts, make sure within 30 minutes after your workout, that you eat some form of protein. Your muscles are tired and they are looking to feed on something quick. Protein powder owns because they are broken down proteins that your tired muscles can easily feed on. If you opt to skip protein or any form of energy after your workouts, there can be a problem. Your muscles will look for something to feed on and may start feeding on themselves! Of course protein powder is a little pricy, what I used to do in high school was just eat tuna after my workouts. Tuna or fish protein is great because fish is lean and low in fat but high in protein.

My eats include : -Tuna -Eggs -Chicken(no skin) -Protein Shakes -Pure Water -Steak -Egg Whites ^--- All day every day. 6 meals a day. YOU CAN NOT DO CARDIO if you want a body. That is for other routines. Mainly start off with "Rip" setups and such. No bulk what so ever. Continue to workout 2-3 hrs a day, 6 days a week. Monday - Sat, sunday off. During different sections of your body each day. Since abdominal region is required by all parts of the body, you'll be looking amazing in no time. Also you being 22 is it? Should have much more testostorone than I, and I'm able to build muscle mass very fast. Me: 5'11 / 6% Body Fat / 160 LB.

Also i just downloaded and did that ab ripper p90x thing, it felt good. I guess i'll do it every day or every other day for a while and see if it gets any results combined with running 2-3 miles a day.

Ok before you decide that you are Mr.Olympia 2007. Let me explain. Tasteless does not have a large enough stomach to do anything, if you just abuse abdominal region you will get hurt over time and have ultimately nothing to burn. He needs to store the fat not lose it. He is not going for a runner body, he wants a fit / ab body. I'm being taught by 1 personal trainer and 1 body builder (in the family), but of course you must know more right?

And yes, to get the sexy block-abs, he needs to gain weight. Cardio is inappropriate for lanky-ass white boys, except as a tool to increase heart rate before resistance training. On the other hand, 2-3hrs/day for 6 days/week is absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary, probably even dangerous unless very carefully structured... 4-days/week using a push/pull alternation, supplementing with protein powder, I was able to gain 8 lbs of lean muscle mass (I'm 5'9", so that's quite a bit) over a 6-month period. Higher sets with lower reps for maximum mass-gain.

has anyone here tried using kettlebells as a workout before (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kettlebell if you've never heard of it), and if so is it any more effective than regular weightlifting/running workouts? any more fun/challenging etc.? i'm kind of intrigued by the idea since its something i could just do at home without having to go out to the gym, but i'd like to hear other opinions first. here's a video if anyone wants to see it in action:

what kind of body are you looking for? body builder? 10 more lbs? or just a ripped gut with what you have now? It matters. I was a personal trainer for like, er, one month, so if thats worth anything ill be happy to input what i can. btw regarding lastshadow - while advice to a normal person sounds like bullshit but I think its because he's not elaborating on what you said and/or his command of english is horrid. Most people associate CARDIO as anything running related. In reality there are different tiers of this, with simple heart healthy activities, to middle distance fat burning types, to extreme marathon running (which, if prolonged, will actually lead to a spare tire fat deposit around your belly - undesirable for most folks). lastshadow is VERY correct though when he says that calorie intake is paramount to six pack abs, unless you want to do an extremely difficult exercise routine. I'll try to post more later.

Try doing lower ab exercises (leg lifts, scissors, etc.). If you keep running and keep a good diet it should pop out pretty fast (1 month or so) especially if youre lean enough to have a 4 pack already. I never did get lean enough to get the GI joe devil horns though. Oh also cheap and easy advice for all: flex as often as you can as hard as you can and especially after each workout set. you'll be surprised how fast your muscle definition improves.

If you think about it, it makes sense. The fat will just fill in the creases, no matter how huge your abs are (to a realistic point). Once you drop below a certain BF% (somewhere between 8-12% for most guys, depending on how your body distributes fat), you'll start to see a 6-pack. Even if I'm trying to get a 6 pack, if I have been on a gaining cycle for a few months and lost it, I don't work my abs, I just cut back my calories. Once I start to see the 6-pack, then I start working my abs to make it more defined. [/QUOTE] good stuff man.

I probably just need time + more cardio then i suppose. i'm working on eating a bit healthier too, but its hard during school year.

How do you explain a skinny person without a 6pack working out and getting a 6pack without losing any weight?

Skinny people do have visible six packs. It's just not as eye bulging because it's most likely not that big.

Then one of us would get on our knees and the other would sit on his back like youre riding a horse, and you would let your torso roll all the way over till you your back was curved like a crescent moon, so your head was about to touch the ground, and do a full sit up till you were perfectly up right again. It was great.
