Make it into a liberal democracy. This is the "famous square" incident that you mentioned. It was rejected, though, and not by the government, but by the people of the People's Republic of China. It was rejected through negligence and apathy. It was rejected because it was the bourgeois revolution, and the lower classes simply didn't care. The Chinese people, on that day, 6/4/89, stated that they preferred oppression of information and restriction on freedoms, for security, economic prosperity, and stability; over the alternative of a liberal democracy. This is the key point. The Chinese people aren't dumb, they realize that the Chinese government is pulling the hood over their eyes, but they, for now, allow it. Because look where it's brought them. In 1989, who would have ever imagined that within 20 years, the capitol would be hosting the Olympic games. Who would have thought that the nation could have become a global superpower. Who would have believed these things. pa fucking thetic. yes they are dumb, do you know why? because they're so poor they can't afford to be educated about these things. is your dad a rich corrupt government official who tells you this sort of shit? my family visited China. poor people fucking everywhere, trying to sell stuff just to feed themselves for an extra day, begging for money, it was fucking horrible because it was meant to be a holiday but i feel fucking guilty because in reality that money should've been donated to some international Christian charity which helps poor people in China (and yet are still subject to the government's persecution for trying to bring in Bibles) the poor people don't give a fuck about economic prosperity, that's because they don't even know what the hell it is and they're just struggling to survive each day. the so-called "bourgeois" that you label were uni students who came from poor farms and made their way to the top, seeing how corrupt government is and how the only way a country can truly prosper is through market liberalisation and private capital growth, not government control and fuck you to the dumbshit Lefties who talk out of your asses about me wanting freedom and being ironic and ignore the fact that historically Left-wing governments = communism and socialism = no freedom

With all the blind and ignorant chest thumping some Americans like, I ought to be given a free pass for some of my own. Yeah but America is awesome and your country sucks. The best defense I see of the Chinese guys is finger-pointing "Well AMERICA has poor people and SINGAPORE denies individuality, too!!1!one", but they seem to forget: Americans generally live well and are happy, and Singapore streets are so clean, you could fucking eat off of them.

Yet I ask you this: from your leanings I'd assume you are a supporter of the Bush Administration, so what do you feel about the Patriot Act. Isn't it in essence what you just condemned, an acceptance of a loss in liberty, freedoms, and privacy in exchange for security against terrorists, and in extension prosperity? Oh yea, I recommend you for a ban.

Singapore wasn't in that great shape 30 years ago. And they managed so well, wouldn't that suggest to you that economic prosperity and living standards are not necessarily correlated with the American Ideal of a democratic political structure?

But I'm asking a specific question: can you subject USA to the same standards as you obviously measured China by? Without such a relative comparison, its easy to level criticism at just about anything. Tolerance to what ? To dictatorship and corrupted politicians ? Who are the intolerants ? Oh well i guess they are the Westerners, Taiwainese, opponents to the government and of course Tibetans -.-
