You say we chinese are living in a circumstance of opperresion and no any real freedom. You deem chinese govenment as a vicous devil dominating this country cruelly.I can tell you we can criticize government freely and express our political views liberally with our friends ,relatives on the parks as well as even some strangers on the long-distance trains and buses as long as you don't provoke the social turmoils out of the malicious intentions (Just like what happened in 1989 on the Tiananmen Square)due to the stability of the country is the most top priority of current societ which is the common sense of people like me who lived in china. From your cynical words, half of china's population is living in poverty.I don't know where you get this information, however, since China has become the 4th largest economy (soon it will transcend Germany, becomes the 3rd) in the world according to the statistics from World Bank, actually most chines people lead a relatively happy and plesant life, they can do anything they can do excerpt committing crimes.Take me as a example, I am not a rich guy in china and my parents are normal workers like other chinese living in cities who dedicated almost their wholelives to their jobs.I have computer,DVD,AC ,29inches TV, water heaters to take a shower at my home and modernized cellphones for me and my famalies to communicate with each other just like what you westerners do in your countries.I also have some classmates from rural areas, they also lead a happy life, despite the disparity exsited in living standard of uban areas. They can do anything like what their courtparts living in cities do,They can receive college education, they can surf internet in the net cafe, they can fall in love with girls ,they can go to bars for fun with their college friends.etc. The most ridiculous mistake you have made is Playing SC is not a fucking damn privilege in china.I can tell you I played sc since 1998(I was 12-year old then)and almost all of my friends and classmates and many other students have access to computers (most of them have comupters at home ,but some still slipper to net cafe due to their parent's severe supervision) to play sc.SC is a very common game played by numerous young kids and teenagers as well as university students in China.Don't Say I am in comfortable life,I am from a small city in HUNAN Province ,which is a region that lags relatively behind the coastal cities. If I translate some of your words to my friends and my relatives ,I guess you are likely to be a laughingstock by virtue of your ignorance.Don't thinke you're smarter than chinese ,because you don't understand what we chinese are . Woa dude, hold on there. What the fuck does it prove if 3 people here who have it good say life in china is good. I said it's a crappy country because the government simply throws people out of their houses for their own gains leaving those people to die. Please stop posting essays on life in china, it means jack shit. If you want to convince me the people in china have any rights in the eyes of your government please tell me how the hell do you justify evicting people just to host some crappy olympic event? Sure you have it good thanks to the economy, but that doesn't mean the government won't fuck up your life in an instant if you just happen to live in the wrong house. Though I'm sure that's not allowed to be filmed and shown on tv thanks to the wonderful censorship machine, another thing that makes the government so retarded there. ,I guess you are likely to be a laughingstock by virtue of your ignorance. I get it, I'm a retard. Just call me a retard and stop making me browse through half the dictionary already.

Here, I'll give you a demonstration of a demonstration, which additionally demonstrates the deficiencies of your logic in this thread (a 2-for-1 special): Let's say I'm a proud emigrant from "Jopolis", a country rife with homelessness and unemployment. Jopolis suffers poor foreign relations. Jopolis has a booming shipping industry, which is the main source of the GDP. Now watch me compare Jopolis with some other countries. I think a picture will demonstrate rather well: ![]() It's easy. "Jopolis has pollution? Well so what, Mexico has pollution. Jopolis has poverty? So what, Canada has homeless people, too: over a hundred thousand. Jopolis is internationally unpopular? Well so what, so is the USA. Jopolis is clearly OK by objective comparison." FAIL: it's a flawed comparison. I've picked singular traits from countries that have many other great things going for them. You can't jump around your examples comparing individual traits. Likewise, most people agree that China's government fucking sucks. And all you've been doing the entire thread is cherry-picking little factoids about other countries who don't even come close to the aggregate problems facing: China (gov't), Chinese culture, and the individual who happens to be born in China. You're obviously a smart guy, but you're just wrong here. Are you prepared to apply the same exacting standards you do against China to a society you are favorable to? Otherwise its clearly a sign of hypocrisy. You mean, me in particular? Yes, I am very critical of the people who control the institutions I live my life through. Just like most educated people the world over.

Who ever said the government was perfect? I already stated up front that I think China's horrible human rights record will be the biggest stumbling block in its future. I have also went ahead and argued why you can't judge the entire country because of that record. But obviously you rather hold on to your preconceived notions than even entertain arguement contrary to yours. Headbangaa, my argument wasn't that you should check off a list of faults by saying "Hey, Country A has this problem too, check off 1, Country B has this other problem..." I was saying that, these problems aren't really that correlated, so people can't tie them all together and say ahh, China is a communist shithole hell bent on torturing its citizenry and annexing defenseless states, and all these signs prove it". They can't point to China's economic disparity and claim its a function of the "lack of liberty and media freedom". Other countries have had one and not the other. China is not a unique country marked by the anti-Christ, it just happens to have some problems, like all other countries do. Secondly, I think it speaks a lot about the inherent biases of you guys that you are able to criticize China by one standard yet unable to accept me applying the same to another country? Why the double standard? Contrary to what you think, not every Chinese is an brainwashed soldier toeing the party line. I've stated many times over that the Chinese government is no saint. I just don't believe it you can't judge that country by simply that aspect. Well i never said that myself. I have nothing against China and Chinese people nevertheless i dislike Chinese government. I just want a bit more freedom of expression in China that is all. The main issue isnt to say if China sucks or not but, of course it "sucks" ( i dont like this word because it is quite cutting ) on Western standarts but what are the problems in China and what could be done to solve it. And well i think that everyone understand that you like your country but there are some facts that you cant deny. China has to improve. Off-topic ( and not ironical so dont flame, i just want to know ) : You are Chinese but where do you live ? you study in US ? Good night btw i'm tired and this GiGA thing is crap -.- i couldnt have watch the finals.

And I never denied anything about China in my posts. But its one step from saying yes there are these problems and there are these laws they just enacted, its another thing extrapolating it and saying, ahh, China is a dictatorship controlled shithole where you have no freedom and because of that people are penniless. The first part is true, the second is clouded by political bias and personal judgment.

Yet I ask you this: from your leanings I'd assume you are a supporter of the Bush Administration, so what do you feel about the Patriot Act. Isn't it in essence what you just condemned, an acceptance of a loss in liberty, freedoms, and privacy in exchange for security against terrorists, and in extension prosperity? Oh yea, I recommend you for a ban. so ignore the hugeass post i made and try changing the topic, ignoring the points i've made? what the fuck does this have to do with the Bush Administration and the Patriot Act, i don't even live in America and know fuck all about US politics, if you want to know my political leanings visit www.act.org.nz or look up classical liberalism on Wikipedia so basically you've discarded the fact there are a fuckload of poor citizens who contrary to your argument that they are happy with the government are in fact just ignorant of the government because of my "level of intellectual discourse"? pathetic strawman
