Inspired by this old thread which was less of a choice.
2 Balisongs or 2 Nunchaku ?
Both are short ranged quick manueverable weapons. Both can be thrown or flipped around for longer ranges. Both can be deadly in the hands of a skilled user.
What do you choose?
The conditions are as follows:
-Both fighters have the same body type, same skill set, nobody has a clear advantage over the other. -You cannot use any outside weapons, bite, or do anything other than use the weapons you have. -You can use the weapons in any way you\'d like. -It is a fight to the death.

Now which weapon would you take: A single butterfly knife or a standard Louisville slugger. Each weapon is to be used against the other weapon. Please explain your answers. edit: I don\'t know how to make a poll
Poll: Fate (Vote): Balis (Vote): Nunchucks
Me personally I don't know what I would choose at the moment. I am fairly skilled with both and I don't know what would be best in this fight.

It's more like: On low skill levels the knives are an advantage since they're so much easier of a weapon and so straightforward to use. If both are skilled with their weapons however, the nunchaku guy will have a definite advantage because of the speed and range, and all the techniques one can learn with a nunchaku as opposed to the knives.
IMHO.

vs.
Both can be deadly in the right hands. Who do you pick?

The second one, the first one is obviously fake.

Does anyone actually have a video of nunchucks being used in a fight or tournament?
Actually hitting someone with it, not just being swung around. Bruce Lee one doesn't count

the knife nunchaku are the dumbest weapons ever. youre more likely to hurt yourselves with them than anyone else

Knife all the way : /. If the fighter is equally skilled with the knife, then he would have the edge. Har har.

it's still possible to get cut by your own balisong if you lack the dexterity. i've seen someone get a slight cut by carelessly flipping one open. both don't seem like practical weapons to me, but errrr i'll go with nunchucks just because michelangelo used them.

theres nothing impractical about a balisong whatsoever a knife is a knife

Exactly what I was thinking. I'd rather have the knifes because I got no clue how to use numchuks effectively but i'm sure if 2 martial arts masters who have trained with the weapons fought. The one with the numchuks would have the advantage.

Nunchucks easily imo speed/range ftw I think i would have a better chance of hitting someone with knives with a nunchuck than vice versa

I don't see how not knowing how to use a weapon therefore makes the weapon totally useless as you say, SoMuchBetter. It might be useless to you, but pretty sure someone who knows how to use them will kick the shit outta a knifeguy.

Assuming both are expert Nunchaku users who have never touched a knife before:
wins
As you can see, it really fucking depends.

I've had training with nunchucks. I've used wooden ones, but I don't know how a metal one would swing (speed, mobility?). If you get hit with one, you won't fly like in the movies. It just bounces and stings, sort of like getting hit with a batton.
Why don't one of you guys go buy a pair of chucks, have a rubber knife, and then see if you can disable the knife guy before he cuts your arm or stabs you : /.
