(1) giving Mueller 3 hours of under oath deposition where Trump goes full on Abe Simpson senile and rambles about vote counts, Hillary being a felon, QAnon grade fantasies, and stuff about fake news (2) copy and pasting Manafort's lies onto paper only for them to be directly contradicted as Manafort goes to jail for those lies and Cohen pleads out and testifies that Manafort's lies were lies Keep in mind that Trump has been in hundreds of depositions before but never gone down for perjury. Everyone knows he lies all the time, but he believes his lies so he never meets the malice standard. The man is senile as all hell and can't form complete thoughts enough to be tied down into anything resembling a claim about reality. How can you prove he is lying when his transcribed sentences aren't even complete sentences? Team Trump really thought that the written interrogatories were the way to go to keep their client from lying, but now they have just put actual lies on paper. I think relying on (1) Trump's inherent ability to fantasize and make up delusions and lies on the spot would have been a better legal strategy than (2) letting lawyers copypasta lies Mueller can prove are lies onto paper. | ||

Everything simple solution that folks are thinking of has already been thought of. The FBI investigators and lawyers involved have all be doing this for years/decades and are building on practices that have been refined over more decades. If you can think of it, it likely has already been thought of, worked or didn’t work and now there is a best practice to avoid it. It is like when all the tech companies face a civil lawsuit and delete a whole bunch of emails, thinking they have cracked the code to avoiding the lawsuit. No one can know what was on the emails that were deleted. Except destroying evidence is nothing new and there are already rules around it. | ||

The problem is that its a huge conflict of interest for someone who isn't a mere private citizen and the only explanation for him signing off on the deal is that either he didn't expect to win or just didn't give a fuck and knew Republicans wouldn't do anything about it. | ||
