The name does not change anything. You could call Lake Michigan Lake Votedforbadorangemantwice and it would not change anything. The fact no other president would do it does not make it matter. Personally since you asked I'd give the world record allies to the US/UK and consider Canada more of an unofficial bonus US extension, especially if the relationship is so fragile that the lynchpins are random things like the names of some water.

They establish that name-changing is already accepted and prevalent and that names do evolve.
No two situations are exactly equivalent which is why I brought some more into the fold for context. Pointing at each individual one and going "This is not the exact same" missed the point. They are relevant for being name changes, made through legal processes.

No, you know what you're right, then if Carney collapsed negotiations for allegedly "French" issues (Canadian government still hasn't released the draft/proposal of what they walked away from) with me as president I'd just instantly turn off the pipelines that flow back into Canada or apply pressure in some other way. And then I'd go make a deal with Venezuela which the US already just did. I thought my initial idea was more appropriate and reasonable but if that's unfair because Spanish isn't technically an official language then so be it.
