This was and will be bad, but this level of political violence is not really new. Just not that frequent yet. However, the actions that are to be taken by Trump and Republicans would have been taken anyway at some point, most likely.

What civilized society are you talking about? The suspects that Trump was encouraging police to hurt during arrests aren't criminals and won't be until convicted by a jury of their peers.

I think that the previous assassination attempts on Trump were a bigger, more significant pretext than what happened to Kirk, even though Trump ended up being totally fine.
