The EU retaliated, are they also paused or will that go ahead? no one knows.I enjoy how despite reading everything about this, I still have no idea which tariffs are still in effect and which are not. I've read that its not really a pause but everyone just gets the flat 10% instead, but who knows.

So, will Canadian steel go from 25% down to 10%? what about BC's softwood lumber? I wonder how long before the Steamdeck goes up in price? Looks like a $500 Switch2 is incoming and a $550 Switch2 with the pack-in game. If you're thinking about buying a Steamdeck.. its time to pull the trigger. Thank God, Bessent is the voice announcing and presenting this and not Lutnick or Navarro. Bessent knows wtf he is doing.

I imagine it'd be necessary to wait for an actual executive order release to know the exact effects, because a social media post is not a binding act of national policy - but he may also be able to do it just with internal memos/calls with Treasury and Commerce.

It is time for Canada to put American products back on store shelves and get to the bargaining table. On April 10 2025 03:39 BlackJack wrote: Everyone was requesting him to pause/cancel the tariffs No, there are people who think a trade deficit is a bad thing and want the tariffs. Also, Howard Lutnick and that Navarro guy were not pushing for a pause. Navarro and Musk have been going at it for weeks.

I do not believe Howard Lutnick believes any of the stuff he has been saying for the past few weeks. It is time for Canada to put American products back on store shelves and get to the bargaining table. Fuck no. I've already seen more products from south america and Europe hitting our shelves here. I hope that continues. Trump and many in America are clearly worried about how dependent they are regarding their imports from China, and they're right. That also holds true for us here in Canada now too, as the USA has now proven to be an unreliable partner.

Trump contradicts himself for one sentence to the next. This makes it impossible to be a "yes man". Musk and Navarro have been bickering for weeks. Thus , both can not be "yes men". i don't think Howard Lutnick believes what he is saying. he just BS-ed in order for the Trump regime to keep its cards close to the vest. Navarro? I have no idea. that guy scares me. It is scarey that he MIGHT truly believes these massive world wide tariffs were a good move.

You’re now proposing that they go back to the bargaining table and renegotiate that great deal. But they already did that and this is where we are post giving Trump his deal. Canada went to the bargaining table back in 2017. They bargained with some guy called Trump, and that Trump guy said that it was a great deal for America.

Too bad. Oil price drop could have really squeezed Putin.

Except it really does impact shipping and product prices and planning, it's a mess. It paralyzes them and they end up better off leaning their operations now because that's the safe thing, for some companies the alternative could be bankruptcy if projections are bad. They're gonna slow their investments for sure.
