Im guessing most of them are older and wont see the worst of climate change but if they are younger it seems like a bad move.

If you are very good at calculating, you could buy lots of future beachfront property cheaply?

The problem is what do you put on it? climate change will cause hurricanes to destroy everything and in florida you'll never be able to get insurance to rebuild afterwords.

Otherwise small desirable states that are overflowing with migrants would be scored below large states that accept a few in each city. Not necessarily. If there was an exodus out of the United States and 100,000 people moved to China and 400 people moved to Ireland I wouldn’t necessarily say Ireland ranks ahead of China in migration from the US just because there were already a lot more people living in China than Ireland. Otherwise, yes, point taken. Florida being larger means they have more room and infrastructure to absorb people. Florida ranks #1 in gross net migration and #4 in per capita net migration.

I remember after the back to back bad hurricane seasons in ‘04 and ‘05 and all the talking heads on the tv were saying “This is the new normal thanks to climate change and you can expect this every year now.” Then we went 12 straight years without a single hurricane in Florida

While that's true, do we happen to know which states have the most people leaving for Florida? Because if they're leaving solid blue states, that wouldn't be very helpful for Democrats (especially since Florida could be purple but arguably is becoming light red now, pulling a potential swing state away from Democrats).

Do you perhaps mean not the super ones that caused billions and billions in damages? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Florida_hurricanes_(2000–present) I suspect not "all the talking" heads were saying that either. But rather questioning if it was. And then scientists likely were saying reasonable things (like they tend to do) about how climate change will create more intense weather often unpredictably. Which certainly has happened and looks to be getting worse not better. Do you think weather patterns are not changing to more extreme? Or what is your point here? Are you a full climate change denialist and do not believe that the Billions of people in the world are not impacting climate? From your own link: September 1, 2016– Hurricane Hermine made landfall along the Big Bend of Florida with winds of 80 mph (130 km/h), making it the first hurricane landfall to the state since Hurricane Wilma in 2005 Okay so maybe it was 11 years. My point is that these type of exclamations of “pretty soon the middle of Florida is going to be beachfront property, if there even is a Florida left after the Hurricanes get through with it, am I right, hardy har har” are nothing more than eye-roll worthy. I saw a news story not long ago about Japan lifting many of its COVID restrictions and the top comment was “Great, I have a trip planned to Tokyo in 3 weeks. I will be surprised if there is even a Tokyo left after this stupid change in policy.” As if a large chunk of Japan is going to fracture off and sink into the sea because they modified their COVID policies. If your goal is for people to take these issues seriously then these hyperbolic hysterical posts are the last way to go about it.

I don’t get it. You’re asserting that there are posts made here that you disagree with but instead of quoting those posts and stating your disagreements with them so that the people you’re disagreeing with know who they are and why you disagree with them you’re instead disagreeing with a straw man and hoping that unnamed people will know that you’re implying that they’re also made of straw for reasons you refuse to provide.

I thought it was pretty clear that I was addressing Simbertos post about “future beachfront property” and Sermokala post about “hurricanes destroying everything” in the portion of that paragraph that you deleted when you quoted me

This is just like that dumb thing I saw an idiot doing on an Instagram reel. Man that guy was stupid.

The rust belt and northeast always have people moving to florida. Anecdotally, in Michigan i hear right wingers talking about moving there or friends who have already moved there and how great it is.
