Did Fox not want to risk the Republican civil war happening on their platform or did DeSantis just colossally miscalculate?
It could very well be a bit of both. Fox won't get behind a specific non-Trump Republican candidate until the candidate polls competitively well against Trump, I think. And DeSantis should have picked a better coming-out strategy.
Sidenote: Is the punny name "Ron DeSaster" too clever for Trump to think up on his own? It'd be sad if he just sticks to names like Meatball Ron.

If recent Republican grumbling is any indication, they're actually not entirely pleased that DeSantis is actually willing to seriously push the culture war to its logical conclusion. There's definitely Republican business owners in Florida that have voiced their annoyance that their preferred illegal immigrant is fleeing Florida for a blue state because Florida is actually going to crack down on illegal immigration. The culture war is meant to only serve as a wedge issue, not directly screw their bags by driving up fruit picking or construction labor costs (or god forbid halt progress).
I think DeSantis went with Twitter because him and Musk are peas in a pod. I think they're really misunderstanding how popular they actually are, DeSantis is actually running with Make America Florida when Florida is globally known to be a bit of a laughing stock is proof enough. Musk similarly got blindsided when he got booed mercilessly at Dave Chapelle's show.

Ron DeSanctimonious is still his best name I think. Its so childish but it really does sum up DeSantis.

Besides his MAGA tagline, he could sell a lot of hats/shirts for the Republican primary if he starts using the slogan + Show Spoiler +. It's crass and completely inappropriate, but precisely in line with his character and the kind of politically incorrect edginess that appeals to his followers.

I thought for sure that this was a line to simply make fun of DeSantis, but apparently he's actually running with it: https://makeamericaflorida.shop/ Wow. Talk about not having your finger on the pulse of... the other 49 states.

Even worse, the logo can be childishly read as Make America Lorida. You know people are going to mock him for this.
None of this really seems that competent. Introvert says Twitter's technical issues don't really mean that much but I think it kind of does? Both Trump and Biden have already attacked DeSantis' judgement to choose a unstable platform to launch his presidential campaign. While both of them are being childish with their attacks, the point is actually pretty valid. Why Twitter and not a platform that is actually reliable?
Twitter has long been dogshit for audio and video and its obvious that Musk's changes have negatively impacted the website's stability and functionality. Unless you are a Twitter Blue buying idiot, you know that Twitter's functionality is pretty awful right now. The majority of replies in any tweet are dull Twitter Blue reply guys and the algorithm to push tweets is severely broken considering a load of people are reporting that they're getting pushed a whole load of WorldStarHipHop type garbage, entrepreneur scams, and animal abuse content. Its really hard to use it to aggregate community/news content because it just doesn't work like it used to. Nothing really does.
Why no one on his team told him to choose a reliable outlet to launch his presidential campaign is a mystery to me because I think Fox News or Newsmax would be more than happy for the views? That's what the majority of people are wondering, heck he could have launched on Rumble if he wanted to launch on a conservative leaning social media website and I can guarantee it wouldn't have any of the technical difficulties he had here.

Only people educated in Florida would think that the state of Florida looks like an F.

Those are valid points. Maybe he's trying to be "hip" by using social media or something, but given that it's Ron DeSantis, it'll just come off like Steve Buscemi's "how do you do, fellow kids" meme.

This is also real bad for Elon Musk, considering his social media platform couldn't handle less than 300,000 people listening to a radio show without dropping audio, having double audio, kicking DeSantis out of the room, etc. AM radio could probably do this in the 1920s.
Consider that Twitch handled AOC playing Among Us with 400,000 concurrent viewers. As a poster mentioned, even Trump knows Musk is basically a modern day confidence man. How DeSantis or anyone on his team didn't know this is bizarre. But his poor judgement resulted in his presidential campaign launch turning into a huge joke.

Don’t worry, I’ve been told this Twitter site won’t exist soon anyway due to Musk laying off 2/3 of the staff. The only reason it’s still online is for the same reason a Jet with no fuel can stay in the air for a little while. It should be offline any day now.

Well, Florida is certainly in the news a lot. While they're doing a "good" job of hurting LGBTQ+ and education, I can't imagine too many other states want the money loss and job loss attached to DeSantis's anti-Disney crusade though.

That's a good point. Frustrating, but definitely a good point. The Republican platform has been owning the libs / demographics that tend to be liberal/ progressive/ Democrat for some time now, so it makes sense.

The Lorida thing works a bit more if you envision the state itself as an F, but backwards. They know what they're about, and it certainly ain't progress.

It resonates well enough to make Florida far and away the leader in net migration, I.e. people leaving other states to move to Florida

Per capita is the logical way to score this. Otherwise small desirable states that are overflowing with migrants would be scored below large states that accept a few in each city.
