Also, the thing they're pulling right now where they're talking about having a stellar environmental record and then blaming the provinces for everything is incredibly slimy. But I suppose this is to be expected. I suspect this entire election will be the Conservatives spewing half-truths that don't reflect reality or match up with research done by other branches of their own government along with twisting the words of the other parties (I mean they already pulled the whole "Thomas Mulcair called our economy a disease!" thing when he rightly pointed out that Canada's current economy was a prime example of Dutch Disease. Of course Mulcair was proven right soon after when oil tanked and the economy took a massive hit).

While I can't completely put the fault on his shoulders he definitely contributed to the decline. Canada loves to rest on the laurels of having the man who created the UN peacekeepers and contributing the most in the past, but now Canada is 65th in the world. Then you factor in the foreign aid budget not even mentioned in the annual budget, which was decreasing anyways. Canada isn't a peacekeeper anymore in my eyes, under Harper it attempts to become a hawk yet maintain the image of being a dove. Yet even with this shoddy try it doesn't make Canada look strong, it only makes us look vulnerable and too easily led by a wardrum and further ruins our former strong reputation as a peaceful global nation. Harper's attempt at playing tough guy with Putin was hilariously bad, yeah, like Russia would be scared of a Canada with a rusting navy and gradually weakening reputation and position in the world.

Foreign policy is not a core value that I will vote based on. "Peacekeeping" is pretty undefined to me, I just want a boring 1-2% GDP defense spending. Foreign policy should be about growing trade with everybody, not fearmongering. Defense spending should be about readiness, not "looking strong" and having Russia be scared of us.

So going off-topic a little here, but has anyone given thought to the Ontario Pension Plan that was just passed?

doesn't sound too bad. A little sad that it would cancel the 10k TFSA contribution limit but that probably wasn't sustainable anyways

Alberta Provincial election tomorrow, voting Wildrose but assume we are going to have another massive PC majority.

What is wrong with what we have now? It works great, should be a simple job of collecting the revenues to pay the expenses. Changes that drastic should always be tried by someone else and only adopt the changes when the data comes in and the major unintended consequences are worked out.

Going back on the TFSA increase doesn't help middle class. May as well reduce RRSP limit while hes at it.

The Alberta General Election is today. Get out and vote Albertans. Practise casting those non PC ballots now!

Any updates on the election in Alberta?

If there are any leaks that would be great.

Not able to check, but there are no projections at all? Usually there are polls throughout the day.

Nice! Another win for the Liberals. This is important leading up to Federal Election!
