https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/carney-canada-trump-tariff-threat-china-trade-9.7060150 This exchange was a small win for Carney. He's got his big, clumsy, and very strong opponent riled up and moving. When I'm using these boxing analogies pretend the voice is either Joe Rogan or Howard Cosell. ![]() it is clear Carney has taken the Liberals on a hard right turn. If Canada is going to compete with the USA this is the only way. Saving the environment and pouring billions into every special interest group in the LBGTQIA2S+ community will only erode worker productivity further. The Liberals are offering to co-operate with the Conservatives. The Conservatives should take them up on their offer. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/liberals-conservatives-house-of-commons-bills-9.7060497 Also, the Conservatives need better, smarter, more experienced leadership. It needs come from more than just the leader. The Conservatives need a team of geniuses. This Poilivier guy makes Stephen Harper look like a JFK. The NDP needs better, smarter, more experienced leadership as well. They need to keep Singh around if he is willing to be part of a team that brings the party back to its labour roots. They need to keep Singh near the top of the party. The guy knows a lot and has been through a lot. See how the Liberals keep Bob Rae around? Do the same thing with Singh.

https://www.americafirstpolicy.com/assets/uploads/files/Fatherlessness_and_Crime.pdf Fatherless children are six times more likely to live in poverty and commit criminal acts than children raised in dual-parent households. Approximately 85% of children with behavioral disorders have been raised in fatherless homes—20 times the national percentage. In a study of 56 school shootings, only 10 of the shooters (18%) were raised in a stable home with both biological parents. 82% grew up in either an unstable family environment or grew up without both biological parents together The guy had not been in school for 4 years and didn't have a job? geez, i thought i had no direction as teenager. EDIT: reminds me of a saying my mom loves: idle hands are the devil's workshop. Has the media/RCMP/authorities settled on whether Jesse Strang or Van Stotler or whatever he name is ... is male or female? The reports I saw he/she was a "gun person". How many kids 13 and under did this clown kill? So far, I'm up to 6. The school was grade 7 to 12 so he went after the youngest students in the school? what's up with that man? talk about nasty. amongst teenage criminals if you're going to get violent you go after your age or older. you go after kids 3+ years younger than you and you are next level garbage. had Strang survived this suicide attempt he was in for a rough existence amongst the criminals.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-02-20/trump-s-global-tariffs-struck-down-by-us-supreme-court Unfortunately, the tariffs on aluminum and steel remain. Trump stated he has another legal trick up his sleeve to continue to apply the global tariffs. On February 20 2026 00:00 ZeromuS wrote: So another floor crosser yesterday. Crazy times in Canadian politics for sure. 80 MPs have changed affiliations the past 25 years. 3 floor crossings in 2 years is not really "crazy times". This is standard stuff. What is more unusual is the iron grip guys like Trudeau Junior and Chretien had over the Liberal back benchers during their times in power. During Chretien's 10 years in power ZERO Liberals defected. He kicked out one guy... John Nunziata over a dispute about the GST.

Someone like that on the right, and a leftist on the left. This is how society moved forward in the few decades where the world was going okay. It's not even a bad system in theory, I'm not being facetious. The only problem with it is that all of the people who would benefit from attacking it hold a lot of power under it, and so in practice it's not really a surprise that it devolves into what we have today.

TL;DR. #1. Ford goes on CNN with Buffalonian Wolf Blitzer to say "I've never seen so many Canadians cheering on the Democrats" #2. "the walls are closing in" #3. negotiations are underway to get tariffs lifted. The Toronto Sun is blue collar right wing. Ontario used to have genius level leadership. Ontario's weak leaders the last ~20 years have authored the province's downfall. Sad to see. Young people in Ontario have a fraction of the economic opportunities I had 15 or 20 years ago. Making big money used to be easy.

Really cool to see how skinny everyone was in the 1970s. @10:42 is that Maggie Trudeau? damn she looks young. @12:12 "this is bigger than winning the Stanley Cup", that after winning ONE GAME in an 8 game series. @13:47 "in the 70s rock and roll was pretty much banned in Russia". This did not stop the Soviet hockey players from buying rock and roll records from "Sam The Record Man" in Canada. @16:12 Pierre with baby Justin on the campaign trail in Winnipeg using the rub from the hockey series to gain popularity. @18:55 the giant portrait of a young Queen Elizabeth looks EPIC. @29:02 Pierre Trudeau tries and fails to get the best Canadian goal scorer, Bobby Hull, on to Team Canada. @30:22 Vancouver cheers the Soviet Union and Boos the Canadian team. Just brutal. @35:00 Pete Mahovlich lays on top of Soviet goalie Tretiak for 10 seconds LOL ... and gets ejected from the game. @38:05 under siege ... Phil Esposito delivers one of the greatest speeches in Canadian history. The CBC Network let the interview run long and into and beyond the national nightly news. Talk about a death stare... damn. What a leader. "Communism Is Better"

You get an interesting slice of the Cold War and how the Soviet Union treated its most prized athletes. IMDB gave it an 8.0/10. It was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best History Documentary Program or Series in 2023. The documentary was a centrepiece of the CBC's fall 2022 programming. Critical Acclaim The series was praised for its high production value and historical depth: Awards & Nominations: It received a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best History Documentary Program or Series in 2023. Technical Quality: Critics and viewers highlighted the restoration of original 16mm archival footage into stunning 4K resolution, which brought new life to the legendary matches. Unique Narrative: Reviews noted its "atypical soundtrack" (including punk rock and Inuit throat singing) and its "sombre and reflective" tone, which moved beyond simple sports nostalgia to explore the political and social impact of the games. Expert Ratings: The series maintains a strong 8.0/10 rating if you don't love Canadian history or politics you might find the video boring though.
