The bigger issue is there was no up and coming Mike Harris or Brian Mulroney or Hazel Mccallion or hell.. even a Joe Clark... to oust him from power. I don't see a group of leaders capable of digging Canada out of this mess. Before the first FTA 60% to 65% of the country's exports went to the USA. It rose to over 80%. This is a super dumb strategy if you are going to start disagreeing with the USA on key issues like military spending. EITHER fall in line with most US decisions made on the world stage OR diversify your export options to countries other than the USA. Do not start "standing up to the USA" while also focusing all exports on the USA at the same time. Canada's lazy, short-term focused leadership did this to themselves. | ||

these anthem singers need to quit changing the Canadian national anthem. at the world series game the line "all of us command" was altered to "only us command". no need to react to the guy with weird hair running that place to the south. it was cool seeing Eugene Levy and Geddy Lee at the Blue Jays game last night. In my late teens and early 20s Geddy Lee's home branch bank was the Scotiabank at Avenue and Eglinton in TO. I saw him a few times and he always had this "my god i hope no one recognizes me look on his face" .  It'd be amazing if Geddy Lee sang the National Anthem for game 7. | ||

I forgot my ID at home and after 2 minutes of talking to me they let me go. I got into the USA with zero ID. I crossed back into Canada with no ID. Fun times. Everything was so much better when Canada and the USA were best buds or BFFs as the kids say 🇨🇦 | ||

Article is indeed "sad". Not as old as you, but in my adult life over the last 20y or so I have always found US customs agents to be complete pricks. Although, to be fair (not really), she probably blabbed too much and told them she couldn't find a job so she's visiting the US, now she's flagged as some sort of economic migrant. Heh. Don't overshare with the police! | ||

I have more fun laying in the sun on a summer day watching semi pro baseball. I don't need to watch a parade of 6'7" guys pitch one inning throwing every pitch at 99MPH. Every 250 lb outfielder, shortstop and 2nd baseman trying to hit every pitch harder than Barry Bonds is boring. The CFL ruleset creates a more interesting game than the NFL ruleset. Carney is good though. That was a great speech. Louise Blais was on CBC last night analyzing the speech and Canada's best possible next moves. She was dead bang on the money. "Not wait around for a world as we wish it to be..." Is that Malcolm X or Aristotle? 😎 | ||
