Technically they could charge you for possession, but of all the people I know getting busted they generally either tell you to put it out, they confiscate it, confiscate + a good talking to/scare, and the worst I've heard of is someone getting arrested (but charges soon dropped) and getting their car impounded because they were driving high. But this is all for small amounts. Anything over an ounce will probably result in more serious consequences. If you are a minor they take things much more seriously though too. This is in Alberta, BC is more lenient, much like cali I've heard.

I see a lot of people holding the smoke in for as long as possible and it kind of confuses me. From what I've been told most of the THC is absorbed after 3-5 seconds of holding it in. When I use my vape I hold it in for as long as possible though, no tar in the vapor to worry about.
I definitely second the recommendation of buying a vape. The MFLB is my go to smoking apparatus these days; its portable, easy to use, and very effective. Not only would a vape solve your problem of coughing but it could also solve the issue of laziness. I rarely feel tired after vaping, its more energizing than anything honestly. It varies from person to person though.

Yes, two bags and you can be charged with intent to traffic/distribute. As for Marc Emery's situation, I guess you can be charged for passing a j, although i think that was more of a loophole because they wanted to arrest him for anything possible.

However I am not to sure about the laws if someone knows a lot let me know just because I do want to own a gun in my home in cast of emergencies ...
