That is really surprising to me. To be honest, compared to "real sports", StarCraft events have very high production value. They have a ways to go to catch up to the likes of racing or American football, but I would dare to say they do as well or better than most professional events.

That is really surprising to me. They don't need to, they already are casting the best game.

I wonder what the players prefer... stephano would surely prefer anands/carsen 5 star hotel instead of his HSC bed. Rotti would probably also prefer that, considering then maybe he has at least a pillow. And not sure what more you expect from a chess event? Flashy lights, animated pieces (battlechess anyone) and half naked girls in elven costumes rook/bishop/queen costumes dancing behind the players? Maybe some artificial fog when they enter back into the playing room coming from toilet? They already have a ton of high level players as commentators, press conferences, multiple streams with whatever kind of information you want, post game anlysis, and an onlinecoverage clearly crushing anything SC2 has to offer. (Coverage done by/on TL hardly counts for the organizers of SC2 events)

Im pretty sure that, long term, players prefer having their sport recognized because people enjoy watching the events of said sport. Starcraft isnt going anywhere forward if you double every single event prize pool from now on but instead only have a solo commentator commentate every game and nothing but a score screen shown between games.

Well, for starters, they could put the title above the stream in any font other than regular Arial...
