Also later today http://www.uschesschamps.com/ Nakamura will play Aronian in a set of four games and 16 blitz games over the course of 5 days for 100k (split 60/40), it's probably going to be pretty cool I hate that answer. I have tried other streams on livestream.com and they also freeze.

Woah huge 30min thinking and a bishop sacrifice!!

Edit: oh, stream trolling, 19 ... bd4... never mind!

Yeah that would have been game if Bxg2??? Vishy still retains this half pawn advantage.

Last year Carlsen won the candidates tournament and then won vs Anand in the WC match This year Anand won the candidates tournament and this match is going on now
Candidates tournament is basically top 9 minus the World Champion playing each other to determine who will be the challenger of the current World Champion More info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Chess_Championship_2014#Results

The life has escaped the position, Carlsen has equalized.
Draw Agreed.

Damn, Carlsen managed to get that to go into a draw
|
Bleh, did not enjoy that game at all.
Seems too easy to force draws at this level. Anand was up 0.7~ for a few turns though, didn't play it perfectly.
|
That wasn't a falling asleep draw in 20 minutes, Carlsen fought for that one. 5.5-4.5 now, only 2 games for Anand to score a win and level the match.

First time I kept watching even after finding out the score and to be honest I like it how both of them discussed the positions at the board some 5 or 10 minutes after they've agreed upon a draw.
Also, Anands question "Is it a cocktail?" hahaha, they just seem so friendly towards each other despite the competition and the age difference. They could learn a bit more how to respond in press conferences though, like tennis players do!
I'm a newb at chess but I absolutely adore watching these masterminds at work.

It's just it's so anticlimactic, grr. But yeah, there was some hope there, but Magnus defended well the entire time. I don't think having time controls of half or 2/3rds of the current ones would be bad, simply to reduce draws by a bit.

That's like the worst idea ever.

Why is that? Not the test of endurance you are looking for, or not enough time to analyze, or?...

"let's make the games shit just so we can see a decisive result"

Yeah really though, I like the top players being able to pick each other apart for each and every single mistake. I find that to be a better way for the game to be played than having the best players in the world playing a much more flawed game now compared to the past.
|
I don't really understand the problem with draws. They can just play more games. I'd rather see a nice game of chess that is a draw than some blunderfest just so that the games become decisive.
