So i was sitting tonight with my old school friends and we got talking about things we used to watch and play when we were younger, we ended up talking about our favourite characters from these games or shows and if we had the choice to become any character who would we become. I thought this was a pretty fun discussion and thought it would be cool to see what other people dream to become!
For me it had to be Goku!
The man is unstoppable, strongest man in the universe and can shoot attacks from his hands! Can you even get any better than this guy. I remember being a young boy and watching the whole series of Dragon Ball Z and only paying attention when Goku was on screen. Seeing him fight some absolutely great battles and just wishing i could fight like him. I was obsessed with him and used to fight my friends shouting Kamehameha hoping that one day i may master it.
So my question is, if you had a chance to live as any Anime or Video Game character who would it be?

There are a lot of Alucards. Which one are you talking about?
As for me, well, my pick is tricky. You see, I use my imagination to entertain myself by creating alternate universes, and so my favorite characters kinda don't exist. I pretty much spoiled myself in that regard. I guess I'll list which real character I would want to be and which pretend one I would want to be.
The real character I would most like to become would be... Orochimaru, I guess. There are a lot of characters I like, but Orochimaru was the first one I saw that was both insanely twisted and insanely powerful. He is pretty much a self-made man, in the most twisted fashion imaginable. His constant experiments give him profound amounts of knowledge and power, something which really impressed me the first time I saw him. When I first saw him in the Forbidden Forest, he let one of the main characters hit him with a massive wad of fire straight to the face. Once the flames cleared, it became apparent that all the fire did was melt off part of his fake face. The first thought that came to my mind was "Is this fucker even human?" I loved to see a character that made me think that without the help of plot armor. Also the choice of music for the scene was godlike.
The fake character I would most like to be is The Nevermore. He's basically a flesh scarecrow of sorts, partially inspired by the Revenant in the MMO "The Secret World". He's fast, strong and incredibly intelligent, preferring to "engage" his opponents through plots and schemes before they even know what he looks like. He's also cold, almost never speaks, never gets angry, never feels pain or remorse or regret. If forced to fight, he is almost unkillable. He's not really alive, so he doesn't really need any specific body part to survive. It's really fun to have a character like that, who can still come at you even with unspeakable injuries, such as a lower jaw hanging only by a few tendons, tongue drooping out of his throat hole. His preferred method of execution is pretty cool: send threads slowly wriggling out of his eyes, mouth and hands and into your body, slowly crawling through your eyes, down your mouth and through your skin, ever so delicately deconstructing you from the inside out and adding your organs and muscles to his body. He likes keeping his victims alive while doing this. He doesn't just take your body, though. Flesh is useful, sure, especially if it belonged to someone or something of great power, but why draw the line there? As he adds his victim to himself, he also rips their soul from their body, and stitches it to his own soul. Naturally, having a soul strengthened by thousands of tortured victims makes him even more of a threat. Nothing is more powerful than the one thing strong enough to survive the journey to Heaven or Hell, after all. Basically, I like him because he sure as hell makes things gory for everyone involved, and also isn't just an ezpz god. He's a parasite, really. Only as strong as what he eats. I'd like to work for my power. Just like a video game, it ain't fun if you just give yourself an invincibility hack.

I picture the Hellsing one in the OVA.
But idk mine would probably be goku too when I was a little kid. He was so badass and I practiced doing the kamehameha all the time hoping that I'd awaken my powers or something.

Why would you want to be him? He's universally hated and killed like 5 of his friends.
One, he killed none of his friends, he played a part in it yes, but blaming those deaths on him is stupid. Two, he's not universally hated. Far from it in fact.
coee geass is far from my favorite anime, but the fact that lelouch is a genius is what I like, I guess I could have just as easily chosen Yagami Light, or L
even if i like alot of caracters, the most interesting of them who still makes me watch naruto just to see some glimpses of his awesomeness is... Deidara
Liked this guy from the moment he apeared on screen, his cool-ness, his power, his inteligence and tactics. The famous deidara-tobi duo that just made an entire filler arc bearable. The first ever "bad" caracter for me who was semi-twisted and had funny moments with tobi, he respected his friends alot, and even cared for his comrades(the moment he is prepared to use a giant bomb to kill sasuke he sais "im sorry tobi" because he thinks the bomb can kill him, also he will die so he can't do any more missions or have any more fun with tobi) His respect for art and argueing wich is better(him or the other)is the only thing in this show that even if overused is not retarded( S4V3 sASKE-KUN!!! <3<3 fanboys). It's a shame he died and now that he is ressurected his skills are kinda lame but again, any glimpse of him even if he is dead already makes the episode a good one for me.

I dislike him cause he's a dumbass, but hate is a pretty strong word.
Duke's OK I guess... I like Warfield better though. Kinda a fan of Artanis too, but I don't know much about him so I suppose not.
I never really liked anime, but I guess I can think of one. As a kid I watched Ronin Warriors— I don't know if I really had a favorite out of them though:
So my question is, if you had a chance to live as any Anime or Video Game character who would it be?
Actually being the character is a different question. I'd have to be random Jedi Master #15 in the background on Coruscant. Seems like a pretty great life.
Ryougi Shiki by a long run. I don't know, I usually go into a long rant about why I love or hate a specific character, but I find myself unable to explain why I cannot do the same for my favorite character.
Vash the Stampede, the most badass pacifist of anime history. Why not roam the wild-west world with an optimistic and over the top attitude towards everything? So long as you have the raw skill to do crazy feats of awesomeness (like dodging bullets and shooting guns out of people's hands) to keep yourself alive, of course.
What can I say, anti-heroes are awesome and this man has been to hell and back several times and keeps going. And has a pretty big sword in addition to that.
I would want to be, out of all anime characters I've seen to date, Tenchi Masaki from Tenchi Muyo! (OVA, Universe - not sure about Tokyo). Or maybe Lord Il Palazzo from Excel. Seems like nice lives, if a little exciting from time to time. (Third choice maybe Ranma, but I'm on the fence there.)
Best Anime/Video Game character (that I don't want to be)? Faye Valentine. (Sure, Spike's got an interesting backstory, but Faye has a pretty complex backstory herself.)
Never had a favorite anime character. I guess the character I liked the most in recent memory is victorique from Gosick (the blonde girl) + Show Spoiler +
