Popular culture Norris regained popularity as a cult icon during the mid-2000's, especially on the Internet. Among the more high-profile parodies and references are these instances: * Late Night with Conan O'Brien's parent company, NBC, acquired Universal in early 2004, giving O'Brien permission to show footage of Walker, Texas Ranger without paying royalties. O'Brien and his writers subsequently created a new segment in which O'Brien shows short, out of context clips for comedic purposes. The "Walker, Texas Ranger Lever" quickly became one of the most popular segments on Late Night, with Norris himself showing up to parody his show and using his martial arts on O'Brien. This segment has been credited as jump-starting the Norris craze and leading to enough interest to produce a Walker, Texas Ranger TV movie. * Norris is the object of an Internet phenomenon known as Chuck Norris Facts documenting and proclaiming fictional feats and characteristics, which began to circulate in late 2005. Norris has written his own response to the parody on his website, stating that he doesn't feel offended by them, and finds some of them funny. [8] * Norris is a main character in a Flash movie made by Neil Cicierega, called Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny, released December 2005. [9] * Norris was parodied in a Saturday Night Live skit entitled "The Young Chuck Norris", aired January 21, 2006. [10] * Norris has also become a sort of pop-icon on many websites big and small around the Internet, even ascending to meme status in some situations; this seems particularly associated with Internet photo-BBS websites, such as YTMND.com.

Now Mr.T is a different story. And really, Vin Unrefined Oil is a loser. He was never a karate champion, and he couldnt even lift T's chains. He doesn't deserve facts.

Hahaha, well said. ![]() Seriously though, since the jokes aren't funny anymore I don't mind explaining it to StarN. Walker Texas Ranger is one of the cheesiest and crappiest action shows ever to be made. However, due to it's very palatable and mindless qualities it was syndicated and is seen around the world in reruns next to crap like MacGyver and other such jems. Now we all know it's hilarious to sarcastically say something is awesome when it is obviously lame, so somewhere between Connan O'Brian's Walker Texas Ranger Lever Gag and some random sketch comedy, a kid decided to post a couple of "facts" that he probably stole from someone witty he knew and put them on the internet. They were funny, and a fad was born. For the record, the only reason they aren't funny anymore is because they were raped of their novelty by idiots. They are, and always will be great jokes. For those of you who claim to never have chuckled at one, congrats, you're cooler than all the rest of us. Fuck off. That's pretty much the story. Hope you're enlightened and have a bit of insight into the wonderful world of Western humour colliding with the internet. ![]()

Just compare him to Schwarzenegger, Diesel, Mr. T. Also, his "martial arts" are pure crap (the other guys I mentioned are not different, but it's the combination)

Mr.T former pro-wrestler. not really MA Diesel. ... actually i dont really give a shit about him. Chunk Norris. He's actually a former student of Bruce Lee's martial arts style that he created when he was in Hollywood. That woudl be one of the reasons Norris has a role of getting his tail beat in by Lee in one of his movies. Honestly, Norris probably has the most legit MA background of all of these folks you mentioned above

http://www.chucknorris.com/html/biog.html From 1964 to 1968, Chuck won many State, National, and International amateur karate titles. In 1968, Chuck fought and won the World Professional MiddleWeight Karate championships by defeating the World's Top Fighters. He held that title until 1974 when he retired undefeated. In 1968, Chuck was inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame as Fighter of the Year. In 1975, he was inducted as Instructor of the Year and in 1977, Chuck received the honor of Man of the Year. Chuck is also founder and President of United Fighting Arts Federation with over 2,300 black belts all over the world. and, of course: In 1997, Chuck achieved another milestone in his life by being the first man ever in the Western Hemisphere to be awarded an 8th degree Black Belt Grand Master recognition in the Tae Kwon Do system. This was a first in 4,500 years of tradition. I think the chuck norris facts took off partly because of what eri said but also what Mandalor said, that you would never except it from someone who looks so friendly. they're pretty fucking funny regardless.
