Almost every great musician has consistently smoked weed.
Legalize it.
Alcohol in modesty also has benefits it's by far not poison, don't make up things that are not facts. Overuse of anything is unhealthy that included Alcohol but weed aswell.

I only read a few comments after the OP. I pretty much agree that regulated marijuana is much safer and better for everyone. It is highly taxed and brings in billions in revenue in most states it is legal in. On the issue that marijuana is a gateway drug is, in my opinion, one hundred percent bullshit. I drank beer WAY before I started smoking; I always thought smoking was nasty until I tried it and fell in love. Anyways thats my two cents.

Legalize it. While I believe that weed should be legal, it's a logical fallacy called Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc to say that great musicians smoke weed and therefore there is a correlation.

Yep. Moderate use of alcohol is good for you. Just like Dark Cocoa is too... but if you have too much...
Weed should not be legalized because that would destroy business. :p

If alcohol is harmful, it does not mean, that weed should be legalized. People become addicted. They want more and more. And this never ends well. People live well without weed. Do we realy need it? No. We needn't alcohol, drugs, cigarettes. We should follow healthy life style.
No, weed should not been legalized.

Alcohol has benefits? The health benefits of alcohol itself i'm not so sure of, but I do know that dark beer and red wine, when consumed in small daily quantities, can help regulate blood pressure, improve skin and hair health, and improve insulin response.

Weed would hopefully do the one thing I wish more people in America, hell even the World, would do more of: ask yourself "what if x?".
This trumps any scientific or medical reason as to why it should/shouldn't be legal, IMO.

EDIT: and yes, of course weed should be legal. anyone who has smoked pot and has gotten drunk knows which one is actually more inebriating and harmful. and thats alcohol.

All the bad things said about weed is due to the smoke on the government ads.
So you use a vaporizer, and the government ads are completely invalid -_-

Really? Pouring money to cartels, making harmless people into criminals, filling prisons past full for possession for a relatively harmless substance isn't a reason? Or maybe if we had a concerted effort and stopped toying with the idea of legalizing it, it would be even more controlled. Certainly, some of the penalties of possession, like 3 strikes laws, are too harsh compared to the crime, and probably contribute to the complacent nature of some officers, departments, and states on the issue. However, that's not a real argument for legalization. when thousands of fine ,tax paying peaceful members of society get treated like the worst criminals evry year(and lifes destroyed cause of that, not by the drug but the legislation) then imho that is a reason. it would bring tonsa taxes(instead of wasting millions on chasing rnd pothead dude #1523545), take that money from organized crime etc. in the end i havent seen someone succesfully argumenting for the ban, still thats the way it is.
pretty sure in the future this will happen. until then... whatever. evryone smokes anyways. i only know like 2 poeple that never tried it. Not everyone smokes. There are a lot of folks out there who don't smoke for differing reasons (career, "respecting one's body", don't like the stuff, etc). I've tried both drinking and smoking marijuana once and figured if I didn't enjoy it now, why train myself to like it. exactly what i meant. evryone tried it. some like it, some dont. now imagine all those people (including you) wouldve been caught by the police just for trying it once. fines, possible loss of job/license etc. does that sound justified? Yes. How many people do you think would try it if they didn't think they could get away with it?
as said out of all the people i know only 2 people never tried it. one of them is my mam. if you think the ban has any effect on that then you should really inform yourself. if anything it makes it more attractive to the rebelling youths.

No, weed should not been legalized.
we dont need mcdonalds, poptarts, chocolate, chips, coffee, tv or anythign either. and all of that carries the risk of addiction -and sure as hell more people are addicted to fast food/snacks then any drug out there.

Of course you shouldn't legalize weed. You shouldn't legalize ANY drugs. I mean, if weed is legal, how on earth are all the drug dealers / crime syndicates / gangs supposed to make a living? I mean marijuana is a huge revenue stream for these groups. Are you just going to sit idly by while these people become unemployed? Isn't the unemployment rate already at 8%? For gods sakes man; THINK.

Exactly! And think about all the prisons we would have to shut down. Dammit OP! You're talking about un-employing THOUSANDS of people here.

I'm sure plenty of people will chime in on this, but weed is not really addictive. Even caffeine is more 'dangerous' in that regard.
As far as I understand, marijuana only has two primary drawbacks: it can interfere with brain development if used consistently at a young age (<20s), and it can amplify schizophrenic tendencies in people with a predisposition towards them.
It makes the most sense to legalize it, but with a minimum age requirement, just like alcohol. 21 is probably too high. Personally, I feel that by the time someone is 18, they can make the decision to use it for themselves, whether it might hinder brain development or not (the same applies to alcohol).
I would encourage everyone to educate themselves on the subject before pushing their opinion, and that goes for both sides. People who claim weed is completely harmless are just as wrong as those who compare it to heroin.
