I would absolutely love to see esports in more mainstream competitions like the Olympics; even if it meant that LoL would get the nod and SC2 wouldn't (although I see no reason why that would EVER happen.) But yea that was painful to watch. Fox News is trash.

e-sports are not sports. Hence the different name.

I love playing SC2 but let's be serious, this would be a terrible idea and would never happen anyway. there are many different levels of skill, the joke is that everyone is comparing them. You'd be more along the lines of comparing music to Starcraft 2 or chess, but it is apparent everyone compares apples and oranges here anyway so it is redundant to bother, and furthermore you're all obviously arguing opinion about a hypothetical situation that may or may not happen, so why bother?

Neither is motorboating, town planning or pistol dueling. the point is that the olympics have set a precedent for unusual sports in the olympic games. Esports is no more unusual than any of the other floaters the difference is that there is a huge following behind it and it has legitimate competition involved with it as well.

However, still playing devil's advocate.... do you think if SC did become an Olympic sport that we would finally get LAN support? I mean I would have to imagine all the Blizzard execs could become fearful for their wellbeing if a lag spike or drop cost some small country a medal...

The mental part is staying true and dedicated and the true part is the physical heights of humans. Putting esports in would undermine the work and full body mind dedication of the other olympic sports. Not to mention olympic sports risk physical injury and tax your entire body and mind. What about shooting and archery? hardly physically taxing sports.

This is purely unscientific but if the same people were polled and provided enough information about each game. Starcraft 2 Endurance 3 Strenght 1 Power 1 Speed 6 Agility 2 Flexibilty 3 Nerves 2 Hand-eye Coordination 10 Analytical Aptitude 10 Total 36 Better ranked than games like Equastrian and Archery. Ranked worse than Cheerleading and Roler Skating Tetris Endurance 6 Strenght 1 Power 1 Speed 8 Agility 6 Flexibilty 2 Nerves 2 Hand-eye Coordination 10 Analytical Aptitude 10 Total 46 Better ranked than Weight Lifting and Sprint Swimming Worse ranked than Bull Riding and Distance Swimming.

I would actually love to watch that in the Olympics. >.>

You do realize gymnastics isn't the only Olympic sport right? I do not really care about Starcraft being in the Olympics or not, but come on dude, not every event is that taxing or dangerous. You could make the same argument against golf being added.
