Apparently there's a known issue where bluetooth audio sent on however many channels a modern phone puts out don't all get picked up by my car. Software issue on VW's part and they don't plan on fixing it. Anyway the result is that when I play bluetooth audio some tracks in a song get dropped, resulting in some songs lacking the backup vocals or rhythm guitar and generally sounding awful.
Is there a way to have my phone output audio all on one channel or in stereo or something? I can't for the life of me find any settings regarding sound output. Years ago, I had a nexus 5 and my phone wouldn't even connect to my bluetooth kenwood stereo. I had to try different versions of bluetooth to let it connect. I ended up on BT 2.1 I think? Was forever ago.
Any consensus on best custom ROMs to run? I have an LG G4 with an extended battery. Since its out of warranty now I feel like playing with custom ROMs mainly for up to date security from the newer Android builds. I dont do much on my phone other than watch videos, read news and make calls/text. The one thing that kept me from new roms before aside from the warranty was the camera software. The LG camera software is actually super good. Huh, is that something I can do? Install different versions of bluetooth?
It takes more work but yeah you can do it. Or at least, you could in some of the old packages, it just requires more work. You can flash each radio separately from the OS if you really want.

From what ive read in reviews and considering theres nothing the 821 cant run perfectly at 1080p
i consider the OP5 a (kinda) sidegrade to the OP3/3T (bar the camera, performance is pretty much the same, battery same, design too), while being a much more interesting upgrade to those on the OP2.
Will probably wait for the OP6 or something

The only thing I really like is the Pixel, but I just can´t justify paying $800 for a phone when there is a OnePlus3 out there for half the price Why is the Pixel so freaking expensive anyway?
Yeah, Pixel is the only 5" phone worth buying.

Supposedly a Xperia XZ Compatc with the 835 is coming, but only rumours so far

Right now I'm running PureNexus with ElementalX as kernel, and getting slightly better battery life, especially when idle. IDK if it's just the 6P's battery degrading fast or an Android 7 issue that's keeping battery life so shit though. Getting 2-2.5hrs of SOT I think. I have none of these problems and I run stock. What made you want to run some other ROM? I feel like all the reasons to use a custom rom are kind of invalid at this point. Especially on a pure android device.
Battery life was halved after half a year of usage and I didn't have many apps installed that could've caused it, not even Facebook. Initially rooted to get Greenify and Wakelock Detector root access, but then saw people reporting better battery life with PureNexus so I gave it a shot. It's a bit better, but I'm not sure if it's a big deal better to be honest. Is for sure during idle time though. Slightly underclocked the CPU too through this new kernel and that might have to do with it too.

I got to fiddle around with the galaxy s8+ in the store and my first impression was "I need this in my life now". I'd buy it immediately if it wasn't for the damn Dexby Button on the chassis and the brain dead placement of the fingerprint scanner. Maybe a larger battery also? Now I'm hoping the s9 fixes these things so I can commit to a purchase without feeling guilt. The design is just orgasmic. I'm also kind of thinking about waiting for Google's Pixel XL 2 to see its specs but God only knows how long it will take for that thing to come out, but as long as I'm willing to wait with the purchase a bit maybe more news will pop up about Pixel 2 and S9+. I also doubt they can beat the s8 design wise. Currently I have the HTC 10 but I'm not super satisfied with it. Samsung S3 left a void in my heart I simply cannot fill with any other device.
Should I wait? Mid year seems the most shitty time to buy a phone.
Its S8/S8+ or nothing right now. You're better off doing what I'm doing and waiting for the Pixel2. I'm on a 6P right now and feeling the itch as well. But straight up, there's not really that great of options right now. Only thing keeping me from buying an s8 is that the Snapdragon variants in Canada/US have a locked bootloader (XDA devs still haven't found a way around it). I'd just get an unlocked Exynos s8 from EU, but then I don't get the sweet deals that my provider offers on new phones

I am investigating my options for a new phone right now and I am currently leaning towards an S8(+). Is the camera on the S8 any good? I'm asking because I've gotten more interested a photography and the Google Local Guides program.

The camera is amazing.
That said if you're considering the camera specifically you should look at comparisons with the LG G6 or Google Pixel.
|
The Pixel is sadly not sold in Sweden (officially), otherwise I would certainly consider it (Not going to bother with importing). And from the camera comparisons I've seen between the S8 and G6, the S8 seems to perform a bit better in low-light situations, which is also something that I value.

the pixel xl 2 renders look pretty good depending on how big the phone is it might be my next phone

Does anyone have a tips for a good podcast app (Paid is fine)? I'm currently trying Podcast Addict and while there is nothing wrong with it, it does use quite a bit of processing power when downloading/updating podcasts (compared to Google Play Music)
I have to agree that the new Pixel renders are looking really good. However, since my currently phone is having issues, I'm ordering a new one towards the end of this month unless I get a REALLY good reason to wait

the problem with the first pixel was that it had a flagship price point lacking many flagship features, no ois, no waterproof, lack of 64gb version was also a problem (32gb is just too low and 128gb its like way too much), huge bezzels (subjective tho)
Also, it was imposible to get one, aside from those problems it was a superb phone honestly
in other news
Im still in love with my OP3T, and sultan linage os rom is godlike... but those Iphone 8 renders are so fucking sexy, its tempting as fuck

I can choose between Samsung S7, Sony XZ, Huawei P10 (and iphone 6)
I prefer android phones myself, what is the best choice here?
|
Honestly i would take the Huawei P10 but theres a problem with some units having eMMC 5.1 vs UFS 2.1 and DDR3 vs DDR4 making it some kind of lottery
the P10 has one of the best cameras there is and the battery life is quite good, performance is superb as the Kirin 960 is quite the powerhouse, but that does mean lack of rom support.
otherwise i would go for the S7
|
Alright, thanks alot. Although reviews are generally good for all smartphones, S7 seems to get the best results. XZ and P10 are newer though. I am not even sure if I want to keep it since my old xperia z3 is still working. If iam about to sell I guess S7 might be the best, since its the most popular?
|
Hopefully you get the exynos version as it has better support and its faster overall (not sure if noticeable tho)

Honest question here for all the android users out there, do you know/care that google takes all your data and stores it remotely and then uses that to target adds at you? They say they use that data for nothing else, but I don't care, once it is stored it can be abused.
Personally I could never use a google device for this reason, am I alone on this one?
|
Why do you think Apple doesn't store your data?
