Now I'm hoping the s9 fixes these things so I can commit to a purchase without feeling guilt. The design is just orgasmic. I'm also kind of thinking about waiting for Google's Pixel XL 2 to see its specs but God only knows how long it will take for that thing to come out, but as long as I'm willing to wait with the purchase a bit maybe more news will pop up about Pixel 2 and S9+. I also doubt they can beat the s8 design wise. Currently I have the HTC 10 but I'm not super satisfied with it. Samsung S3 left a void in my heart I simply cannot fill with any other device. Should I wait? Mid year seems the most shitty time to buy a phone.

I'd buy it immediately if it wasn't for the damn Dexby Button on the chassis and the brain dead placement of the fingerprint scanner. Maybe a larger battery also? I'm on a 6P right now and feeling the itch as well. But straight up, there's not really that great of options right now.

the 3T is fantastic, smoothest phone ive tried alongisde the pixel, is incredibly fast. Otherwise. and if you are not convinced by S8, you should wait for the OP5, which is being revelead in June 20 or the Pixel 2 which should be coming in a few months (September - October)

The Bixby button can be annoying but I'm staying naively optimistic that they might actually make it good once they release Bixby Voice.

Edit: apparently you can using rooting or google store apps. I think I'm sold on it then, fingerprint scanner's position is more of a pet peevee or an annoyance rather than a serious con for me. I will also be using a leather case right from the start. But I'll wait hold off with the purchase until the end of the month just to see OnePlus 5's specs.

I don't use google voice, or any other voice commands for that matter. Siri is one thing and I think it kinda works but google ask or Bixby seem doomed to me especially without international language support like Polish for me for instance. Trying to shoehorn it in is one thing because I can choose to ignore it or simply never use it, but going as far as giving the service a dedicated button on the chassis is pushing it over the boundry of good taste IMO. You can use remapping software without root but that uses Android's accessibility function which has the side effect of slightly increased lag, which nothing can be done about. You can also use package disables to simply reactive bixby completely which has no lag effects but does mean you have a useless button.

Samsung is reportedly working on its own AI-powered smart speaker in a bid to rival the Apple HomePod. The as-yet-unnamed speaker will be powered by the Samsung's Bixby AI assistant, according to the Korea Herald, which the firm has already confirmed will be coming to IoT gadgets as well as smartphones and tablets. However, this is likely a sign that the speaker won't be arriving any time soon, as Samsung last week announced plans to delay the rollout of Bixby to Galaxy S8 handsets in the US, because it's, er, struggling to understand English. We don't yet know much else about Samsung's smart speaker, although the report notes that the firm has been granted patents for the mooted device in South Korea. Source

Right now I'm running PureNexus with ElementalX as kernel, and getting slightly better battery life, especially when idle. IDK if it's just the 6P's battery degrading fast or an Android 7 issue that's keeping battery life so shit though. Getting 2-2.5hrs of SOT I think. I have none of these problems and I run stock. What made you want to run some other ROM? I feel like all the reasons to use a custom rom are kind of invalid at this point. Especially on a pure android device.

Is there a way to have my phone output audio all on one channel or in stereo or something? I can't for the life of me find any settings regarding sound output.

Apparently there's a known issue where bluetooth audio sent on however many channels a modern phone puts out don't all get picked up by my car. Software issue on VW's part and they don't plan on fixing it. Anyway the result is that when I play bluetooth audio some tracks in a song get dropped, resulting in some songs lacking the backup vocals or rhythm guitar and generally sounding awful. Is there a way to have my phone output audio all on one channel or in stereo or something? I can't for the life of me find any settings regarding sound output. Years ago, I had a nexus 5 and my phone wouldn't even connect to my bluetooth kenwood stereo. I had to try different versions of bluetooth to let it connect. I ended up on BT 2.1 I think? Was forever ago. Any consensus on best custom ROMs to run? I have an LG G4 with an extended battery. Since its out of warranty now I feel like playing with custom ROMs mainly for up to date security from the newer Android builds. I dont do much on my phone other than watch videos, read news and make calls/text. The one thing that kept me from new roms before aside from the warranty was the camera software. The LG camera software is actually super good.
