First Impressions This phone is buttery smooth. The only issue I had was that the home button press lags a little bit because it waits if the person is gonna double tap it (a shortcut for my camera) or not. Maybe that'll be fixed Display is beautiful for a 1080 phone. Love the large real estate, love the display. The FingerPrint scanner works flawlessly. I was worried about this one b/c people have complained about it but you can store up to 5 fingerpoints, so I did 2 fingerpoints for each of my thumb and index. It's fast. Hasn't failed me yet. It has a near-stock experience, and I haven't used enough battery to know the battery yet. The exterior definitely feels premium. $400 for a phone that feels this good is amazing. Moto X is a good phone but lacks fingerprint (that's used ALOT more for me than NFC) and the exterior looks clumsy like the 2014 model with cheap plastic all over. That's a no-no for me. There's a lot of small yet nifty customization options with Oxygen OS. I can also give app permissions for each app to any part of my phone (feature of Android M)

Depends on how often you drop your phone, versus how much you want to go without one. I drop my phone occasionally enough, and the Note 5/Edge+ are pretty darn slippery (it still surprises me how slippery they are). However, I also reaaaaally want to go caseless on these phones because of how good they look. So I decided it was worth paying an extra 15 pounds a month for insurance so that if I ever drop it and get a crack I can trade it in and get a replacement on the same day.

Tentatively I have my sights set on the Nexus 5X, whatever that turns out to be, but this thread seems a little sour on whether it will be as big a breakthrough device as the Nexus 5 was. It's good you guys are talking about the Snapdragon 810 issue, I wasn't aware of that previously, so that instantly rules out those devices for me. I was also thinking about the Note 5 which is just an amazing all around device (I work at a mobile developer so I get to play around with some of these new handsets sometimes), but it's expensive and I want my phone to have maximum staying power since I don't want to upgrade again for a long time. The larger physical size of the Note 5 would also make it possible to start playing Vainglory without investing in a full-size tablet. Any other device rumors sound promising? Manufacturers to look out for? I'm in no real rush to upgrade immediately, maybe in the next 1-4 months.

I dont think I drop my phone that often. But Galaxy Nexus cover is not as slippery. I think I will try going caseless and see how, since the phone is already super big and any case, even the thinnest, will only make it worse. Also, is tempered glass screen cover as useful/needed as before? Screen technology seem to be much more durable recently, or as least they advertised so.

I've never used a screen protector and I wouldn't recommend them. I like the feeling of the glass too much.

I've dropped my most recent phone exactly one time over the course of 6 months. In an Otter Box. The screen cracked. Sigh.

I've tried using that app before and it's far worse than the Google Play Store imo.

The feel is really nice, but its fingerprint magnet surface is also something to deal with. The Samsung own clear cover looks sick, but it's really expensive and out of stock where i got the phone Currently going caseless atm, I guess I will just pick up a spigen clear case and tempered glass or something. If I drop and it cracks, I guess things happen. Murphy's or whoseever law it is XD

I'd love to use an iPad Air 2 for school and work, but ain't no way I hell I'm giving my fingerprints to Apple. both fingerprint readers store and read information locally encrypted on the chip and not in the cloud. even root system access wouldn't give you access to the biometric data stored in Samsung's case there was a security flaw you could access the fingerprint reader itself (with system priveleges obv) but not the data. what this meant was that every time you swiped your finger on the scanner while they have system access, they can access the data for that moment the sensor is reading the fingerprint. think sammy fixed that pretty quickly though. might wanna untangle yourself from that tinfoil hat of yours and do some reading

The thing is i still don't completely know if i want the Edge or just standard S6, the xtra screenspace is like 100$ more expensive just that little xtra, and the Edge+ is too big for my pockets and expensive. I'm still not all settled about the Edge and standard, i want 64 gigs as well atleast since 32 doesn't cut it these days. Is the ekstra screen space worth it or should i just go with S6 64gig? The S6 and edge have the same screen size. In fact, due to the curved screen, the edge has a smaller footprint. Also if you wait 4 months from Christmas, the S7 will be out. My phone is starting to die right now as well and I'm contemplating buying a moto G as a temp phone until the SD 820 is out. Really, S7 will already be released next year? I can't wait that long anyways, my current S2 is on the verge of giving up usually announced in feb and released in april every year ~6 months away from the note release
