Now the waiting game begins. I'll give you guys my impression once I get my hands on it I wish I could ditch my Samsung Note 3 on Verizon for OPT or Moto X Pure Edition this year. But sadly havea year left on this contract. Never ever buy a contract. It rips you off. You save more money in the long-term by paying less every month with off-contract service. For example, I pay $16 a month for 100 min, 100 text, 500 mb of data (i use wifi mostly). $400 + 16 a month for 2 years = $784 2 year contract with iPhone or S6 = $100 up-front + around $70 a month = $1780 Big difference. Contracts are rip-offs I calculated the difference between buying my S6 Edge+ on and off contract and it was about 200 pounds cheaper on contract.

If it wasn't for corporate plans i wouldnt even be considering the iphone. 50 bucks a month (x24) for 6 GB and half off the price of the phone is a sick deal in Canada.
Still waiting for more info about the xperia z5 and nex5. Sony and Google please hurry up so I can make a decision! S6 edge is 1/2 the price of the 6S as well on contract... decisions decisions..

The only reason i would consider an iphone would be to play infinity blade lol

Hi, my galaxy nexus just died and now I am looking for a new android phone+tablet combo. I thought about it quite a bit, and I think cheap phone (or just on the lower end side, with good battery life may be, just dont too bad it lags when browsing fb, chrome etc, whatsapp, music, dont need to play game) + tablet (game and video mainly) will be better for both daily communication and entertainment purpose (more battery life and such). Was hoping to grab Nexus5 2015 but my nexus died too early and I'm not sure if I can go a few months with my trusty old Nokia brick.
I'm looking at Sony E3 now, but still quite lost in the phone market so looking for more suggestions. Thanks a lot

since you said tablet, the new/old nexus 6 or even a one plus two. Basically something > 5.5 inch. If you value speakers, maybe something like a z5/premium since it has stereo speakers. Or any of the android flagships released earlier this year since they're pretty heavily discounted atm.
|
IF you are going for cheap smartphones the Moto G its pretty much the only option, its fast, pure android, great screen, updates, etc... after that the next price tag leads you to Idol 3 or XPlay, or maybe an old flagship used.
Im pretty sure you can find a Nexus 6, 5 2013 or an X 2014 decently cheap nowadays.

You're right. Below $300, Moto G is the only option.
Below $400, Nexus 6 (if you can combine Mover's coupon to BB purchase, you can get your hands on one for like $315)
Around $400, and up, Oneplus Two
High-end premium phones, I would choose Galaxy S6 Edge + or iPhone 6s +
Unless you prefer the non-pure android and bloatware.

Oh, I think I was too sleepy to write properly. I sort of wanting 2 devices: one cheap phone and one tablet, not a phablet. Still not sure what tablet to get though, because it's not high priority at the moment. As for phone, the Moto G suggested below seem like a good option to consider

Moto G just released 3rd gen it seems. I would assume newer is better? Although I'm not sure where to find it here in Sg though, electronics market here sucks so hard. If 2015 version is not available, which one is better overall and compatible with global network, 2014 or 2013?
Hmm, non-removable battery, a potential deal-breaker actually.

is the nexus 6 still good? how would it compare to nexus 5 2015

Can you guys explain to me how contracts work in the US?
People say that if you buy a phone on contract you end up paying less in the long run. But here where I live there's a fixxed price like, 50 dollars lets say. You can get "X" phone for free with it, or pay a difference and get a better phone. However you can't pay less that those 50 dollars for the same service as far as I know, which from what I've read is actually possible in the US?

The N6 its still a monster of a device
Snapdragon 805 (N6) vs 808(N5 2015) --> the 808 its slightly better (and ita a 64bit cpu) but the 805 has a better GPU. QHD vs FullHD 3gb ram vs 2gb ram (rumour, some reports say 3 and others 2) 5.96 inch screen vs 5.2 inch screen
After that they are pretty much the same.
The biggest problem of why the N6 wasnt as popular as the old N5, was the size and the price (at release it costed about 600).
There is a new Nexus 6 coming tho, but just like the N5 and N4, the current 6 will be getting updates for a long time

The 2015 looks pretty great but between the 13 and 14, The 2014 would be better overall, bigger screen, sd and if yiu can find it theres a 2014 version that comes with 4g (only difference)
The battery life its pretty awesome tho, i had the 2013 one and it was running all day and well into the next day, no problems. (Maybe the 2014/2015 version have qorse battery ? I dont know but i dont think that would be the case)

thanks! i didnt know the 2015 n5 is gonna be FHD. really thinking of buying a nexus 6 what about nexus 6 and moto x pure/style?

Right, reading through many reviews, I am more or less sold on the Moto G 2015. Guess the best part? It's not here in singapore, yet (hopefully). XD

Both are great phones, it depends on what you want, i think the moto actions are pretty awesome but the fact that the nexus 6 will have updates so fast makes it kinda even.
The 808 CPU its slightly better than the 805, but the Adreno 418 (808) its slower (not much) than the 420 (805).
Both have same ram, almost same screen, both QHD, about the same battery life... The nexus 6 doesnt have sd support tho (X Pure does, up to 128gb)
I think both options are great and about the same peice (i think the N6 its going for 350-400, same as the Moto X Pure)
I would get the X style because i think the nexus 6 might be a little too big for me

qhd is the most overrated shit on phones it destroys battery life and throttles processor speeds i think the way sony (?) does it is nice, qhd only during photos and fhd for regular use.
with the way the benchmarks are looking for 810s i think i'm going to skip this release season and opt for another phone when the 820s come out.

Thank you Sony
I mean, great and everything but if im going to pay for a 4k screen give me the option to use the screen all the time and not when sony wants it
|
why do you need qhd in the first place fhd more than satisfies the ppi requirement
|
I agree with you, a 100% i think QHD its just a little too much, but if Sony is going to charge me extra for a 4k screen i would want to use it when i want to.
|
are they really charging extra (over flagship pricing)? i thought the 4k was just a marketing thing
