*Added a Poll for the BEST Subway Sauce so we can find which sauce reigns supreme...
TL, I have come to realize my diet consists solely of sandwiches.
Ok, Not ENTIRELY, but I eat a lot of sandwiches and most of them are the same old thing. Very rarely do I try something different. Normally I am the type of person who goes to a restaurant and orders something different each visit. But with sandwiches I'm extremely non-adventurous.
I enjoy eating Subway quite regularly but recently I've become bored by my usual. So I have turned to you TL to offer up your usual, or favorite sandwich- Maybe it'll become my favorite or someone else's.
My Usual from Subway: Jalapeño Cheese Bread Turkey Breast and Ham No cheese, toasted Extra Southwest Chipotle, Spicy Mustard All Veggies except Pickles and Onions Salt/Pepper and Oil/Vinegar

Cold Cut Combo Snadwich -herb and cheese bread -regular white cheese -lettuce -cucumber -onion -salt n pepper -honey mustard -sub sauce
You are welcome, enjoy your orgasms.
EDIT: Didn't see cold cuts, oops.
If you don't mind the little extra work involved, BLT's always make an excellent meal. Cook up a little bacon, use fresh tomato and spring mix or good quality romaine, and a little bit of mayonnaise. Add avocado if that's your thing and it's available in your area.
Also, if you're a sandwich lover and find yourself able to order it somewhere, try a Montecristo. It sounds bizarre on paper (it has powdered sugar on it and generally has a fruit spread in the sandwich) but with good ham/cheese, it is amazing. Couldn't tell you how to make one though.
I usually only go to sub places when I'm really high, because I can get so incredibly creative, and almost nothing tastes bad. Generally, though, I like:
Cheddar jalepeno bread (Or whole wheat if they don't have it) Tuna Provolone Lettuce (small amount) Banana peppers (small amount) Red onions (large amount) Light mayonnaise Black pepper
However I like to go to fast food restaurants specifically to bring home different things and make my own concoction (Taco Bell is easy.) For example, we have the Chalupa Sandwich:
2 Chalupas (you can substitute Gortidas if you're one of those kinds of people 2 Crunch wrap supremes (works best with extra sour cream) 1 Package of mixed cheese OR any sort of cheese you like which will melt and stay together well enough
Obviously you put the Chalupas back-to-back, cover the bottom Crunch wrap with cheese, your circular Chalupa goes here with more cheese on top, with the final Crunch wrap put on top. Put this in the oven until the cheese melts, let it sit long enough for the cheese to become somewhat solid again. Then divide among the friends who for some reason helped you create this.
Slicing it up like a pizza and using a fork and knife is the best method of consumption.
-Herb and cheese bread -Spicy Italian meats (pepperoni and salami) -extra swiss cheese (toasted) -100% of the vegetables (unless something looks disgusting) -mustard -ranch -Chipotle southwest (If they didn't put on too much ranch) -vinegar+oil -Salt+pepper -Oregano
meatball marinara on italian herbs and cheese. American cheese and get it toasted.
Now here is where the magic happens. Get ready to be hit with the sammich.
I ask for onions first and then lettuce. Then I ask for sweet onion sauce. Now you're thinking "Wow this guy is so bad at pro subwaying. that scrub better go back to BMT's and leave the subwaying to the real people" What the lettuce does is provide a good crunch to the sammich. It adds volume and bulk and gives that "wow I'm a fucking pimp this is a big meal" feeling out of a sammich. now the red onions are really good with the meat part of the sammich and the sweet onion sauce is great for the bread part of the sammich. But if they touch then they taste like shit and you feel bad about yourself. HERE THE MAGIC OF LETTUCE ACTIVATES! It provides a barrier between the red onions and the sweet onion sauce while still being awesome. It is the pimp that keep the whole show running in-between the bread- sweet onion sauce loyalists and the meat- red onion insurgents. lettuce is the sammich boss. When the beautiful act of eating a sammich happens everything comes togeather for a great explosion of victory and america.
Welcome to the sammich mafia. I got a good feeling about this thread.
Italian Cheese and toasted Sweetcorn Lettuce Onion Gherkin Cucumber Tomato Mayonnaise
I've tried all the salads except jalapeno and although I don't mind peppers and olives, they kinda add too much taste. I actually had a subway for the first time in awhile yesterday thanks to having over 1000 points on my subway card BOOYA
I pretty much can't stand Subway at a rate higher than approximately one sub every 2 months. Eating Subway for me is an act of desperation, and it's not even cheap. (In Canada) A footlong sub w/ the meal combo costs upwards of $10 if you don't want the "basic" choices. There's so many different choices you can choose w/ that much money for a meal!!
This sentiment stems from the fact that I once had the same Subway sandwich 3 days in a row about 7 years ago, when they were having a promotion where they had a coupon which gave you a free sandwich, and a friend of mine printed out a whole bunch of coupons himself and gave some to me...
For the record, I would prefer just making a bowl of noodles, or PB&J sandwhiches.
I dont like having a lot of stuff on anything i eat, so i usually have the daily deal sub, lettuce tomato sometimes cucumbers, depending on how many meats are on the sub chipotle, or ranch if i want to mix it up
I despise ordering subs at subway.... When they ask what else I want on my sub it always feels like they are judging me, "Anything else" Is like a disapproving but polite way of saying "The fuck? Is this guy retarded? Thats all he is putting on his sub?" xD
Multigrain / Meatballs + Chicken Fillet *toasted* Old English Cheese Small amount of lettuce Cucumber Onion Pepper (enough salt in the meatballs) No sauce
tasty tasty. prob not as luxurious as some others but still very filling and yumyum~
damn what is this "sub sauce" that people are talking about? Now I need to find a good sub that goes with this sub sauce that I just discovered.
Mine sandwich is Italian BMT American cheese italian white bread i get it non toasted cause i prefer a cold sandwich lettuce tomato onion jalepenos banana pepper mayo, mustard Salt/pepper
Its freaken delicious, typing out the ingredients made me crave for subway. Can't wait for lunch time!
Mcdonalds: Stack a McDouble and a McChicken on top of each other. Press down with medium force gg re Try it both ways! McDouble on bottom or McChicken on bottom. It makes a difference.
I wasn't at Subways a long time, but my old choice was:
Oregano Parmesan Bread (i think they dont have that anymore) Turkey and Ham Cream Cheese a little extra time in the oven all veggies except Onions and Peppers no Salt and Pepper Ceasar Sauce
But now i usually do my own sandwitches with Ciabatta and all the other good stuff like tomatoes, cucumber, salat, quality sausage, real parmesan cheese .... you get what i mean.
First thing's fist - subway is horrible. Do not go to subway. Subway's subs are not very good. Subway's subs are actually a pretty bad.
The best sandwich I ever had the be the ribeye sub that I made. I took some french bread, toasted it, and then took some horseradish plus a little A1 and then put some Gouda/Havarti (I forgot which) on it. I then took a leftover ribeye that had been marinated in Whiskey (plus some over lovelies) and stuck that in there.
Italian Herbs and Cheese Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki Pepper Jack Toasted Pickles Lettuce Olives Carrots if available, I haven't seen a Subway with them in years though Sweet Onion Sauce
It's relatively healthy (healthier if you remove the cheese, it doesn't add tooooo much flavor due to the chicken and sauce being very flavorful) and holds up well if you get a footlong to eat half now and half later. And it does occasionally come up on their sale flavors.

I have the same problem, though I still buy subs there... I'm a guy who simply does not like vegetables, I just want my fucking double chicken breast, cheese and perhaps cucumber but usually nothing more than that (ofcourse salt n pepper). Ofcourse they have to ask me every time and look at me weirdly "are you sure?". Are you fucking kidding me? Yes I'm sure...
It's funny, but doesn't matter where i am - at home, at the hotel, hostel, friends house or anywhere else, subway is the closest fastfood to me. It's my fate i think :D
I have italian lineage and I'm in love with italian food so I always get
Footlong Spicy Italian (its got pepperoni, salami, etc) Italian Bread Provolone cheese Not Toasted Lettuce Tomato Onions(Lots of onions) Salt and Pepper Vinegar + Oil

Sub with omlett, ham/beacon/cheese, without vegetables is perfect at the morning! Love it so much.
Italian Herb & Cheese Cold Cut Combo Cheese + Toasted Lettuce Tomato Onions Olives Jalepeno Peppers or Chili Peppers (Generally the Chili is hit or miss on the spicyness, so usually Jalepeno) Salt + Pepper Sub Sauce Mayo (Optional)
I used to work at Subway, so I hate it now. Bleh. Instead, there's this place called Capriotti's, eat there and get the capistrami or the Bobbie. Sooo good.

You all love onions.. I loathe onions to the deepest depths of my soul unless fried in a specific way.
My build is pretty simple but filling and delicious Footlong Wheat bread Double meat (sometimes) Turkey Bacon Cheddar Cheese or sometimes Provolone Lettuce and LOTS of mayo Tomato
No.. Nonononono, no subway. If you value a good sandwich you'll stay away from Subway. You'll notice that any combination in any sandwich ALWAYS tastes the same. Everything has that subway-e taste to it and on top of it, it makes me burp for the next few hours.
Sandwiches are too easy and too cheap to make to waste money on sandwich shops, unless it's a really good one. Like La Bottega, or a shawarma.
Here's how to design a proper sandwich:
------------------ Step A. Bread
-Bread is important! The size, the shape, the taste.
-Square bread -Avoid white bread, it's tasteless, sticks to your palate if untoasted and too fragile if toasted. Besides, brown is healthier.
-Rye bread is delicious but usually small. -Sourdough is even more delicious but crumbles easily. -Pumpernickel is a very robust kind of bread. Don't toast it too much or else it turns to concrete. -Bagels work well but you need to use a slice of something to cover the hole or else you'll have leakage issues. -Tortilla or pita bread is great for wraps.
------------------ Step B. Sauce
I'm a big fan of Mustard and Mayo. The mustard give you a strong taste on one side while the mayo lubricates your sandwich. Do yourself a favour and don't use yellow mustard. Have some dignity and go with dijon. If it's too strong for your taste, use honey mustard or sweet and spicy.
You can also use barbecue sauce, tomato sauce, guacamole or even humus.
------------------ Step C. Toppings
As long as you have at least 3 toppings, you've got yourself a sandwich.
-Meat of any kind is good. Go to your local grocery store and get yourself some sliced meat. If I'm out I'll fry an egg and use that instead. Tuna is also good, you'll want to mix it with mayo or avocado (nature's mayo) and a few spices like chili and garlic powder and then spread it on your sandwich.
-Cheese is great. Don't skip on cheese. Try different kinds. Mozzarela, strong cheddar, havarti, brie, camembert, blue!
-Veggies, you need them. -Lettuce (big leaves) -Spinach -Tomato (add salt and pepper) -Shredded carrot -Cucumber slices -Avocado -Onions
Marinades, those are the best part.
- PICKLES! I go to different stores and I always buy a different brand of pickle, I even made my own, last year. They come in all types and tastes, try them out. - Beats - Olives (Good but they tend to leak out of the sandwich) - Marinated eggplants (hot or sweet) - Hot peppers
------------------ Step D. Construction
Sheldon wasn't kidding in Big Bang.
You want to layer your toppings by alternation with a flat one, such as meat, sliced cheese or lettuce, and a not-so-flat one, like a tomato slice, avocado, onion or something else.
I shove all my toppings in a tupperware and pack 2 slices of bread when I go to work. That way I can toast the bread there and make my sandwich fresh. It saves time. If you don't want to do that, make sure to keep ''wet'' toppings such as tomatoes and pickles away from the bread, or else it will become soggy. ------------------

Poured directly into my mouth.
small diet coke
rofl at blah blah blah small diet coke. Do you wanna dimpusize your meal for a quarter more?
Let me first state that Krowser is absolutely right. Although if you do go to subway there is only one way to go:
Footlong Italian herbs Double chicken Teriyaki NO cheese Toasted
NO lettuce Extra red onions Extra olives Extra bell peppers Extra green peppers Sweet onion sauce or chipotle
I just had one for dinner on my way home after I started reading this thread at work. Very good and actually the only reason I go to subway once every couple months. Personally I only go there if I need a meal on the go and I'm not in the neighbourhood of a Wok-to-walk.
Subway is fine. The bread is baked in view of the counter. The cookies are delicious. The chicken options use decent quality meat.
My choice: White bread, toasted Chicken Schnitzel Old English or sometimes mozzarella cheese Chipotle sauce or mayo Black pepper
+ cookies + coke
If you're at a larger Subway, feeling adventurous, have some spare cash, and are persuasive you can get a cookie sub. For a cookie sub, you choose your bread then cookie dough is spread on both sides. They then bake the cookie dough onto the bread, and you can top it with whatever salad and sauce you like. I am told that lettuce should be avoided because it makes the sub taste weird.*
Roast Beef Smoked Ham Vito Meat (Capicola/Genoa Salami) Provolone Cheese Grey Poupon Dijon Mustard Lettuce Tomato French Bread Hot Cherry Peppers Italian Vinaigrette Oregano
850 calories of win. I would get pickles and olives, but alas, Jimmy John's does not have them. I'd go to Subway and get fundamentally the same sandwich, but they only have shitty yellow mustard, IIRC. The Italian BMT is a pretty okay choice from Subway, though.
My sandwich of choice is meatball marina bacon peperoni mozzarella if they have it, if not provolone What ever veggies appeal at the time. So good, so unhealthy, i tend to walk to the subway 7 miles or so away to justify this.
Italian BMT sandwich Herb and Cheese Bread White cheese Untoasted Lettuce Onion Green Pepper Black Olive Cucumber Jalapeno Banana Pepper Mayo / Mustard / Southwest Sauce Salt Pepper
Having worked at Subway for about 3 years now I can confidently say this is the best sandwich I've made to date: Honey Oak Bread Turkey Bacon
Then EXTRA EXTRA toast it with onions, jalepenos, green peppers and olives on it in the oven. Then add the lettuce, vinegar and a few lines of Honey Mustard across the bacon. I have to go to work in a few hours..and I can't WAIT!!! =D
Subway: -Herb and cheese bread -Chicken and bacon ranch -Cheese -Toasted -Lettuce and cucumber -Southwestern sauce This is the basic sandvich, then i add a few others depending on my mood i add one or some combo of: jalapeno/red onion/tomato/olives
At Home: -BLT -Sourdough -garlic/chilli mayo -Toasted
Both are incredible, but im off the opinion that using sourdough toast improves any sandwich ever.

Yup, thats my problem as well... I now just order meatball subs to avoid the question when I don't ask for a single vegetable. Meatball sub with some Chipotle sauce is fucking delicious!
hmm i usually build a Chicken Teriyaki or Italian BMT on Honey Oat Bread
Stuff: Any cheese (i dont taste a difference i couldnt really care less lol) Lettuce Tomato Red Onions Green Pepper Olives Jalapenos Sweet Onion and Honey Mustard

Quizno's is alright, not as good as subway though. I somehow feel like subway's not as good as they used to be, like the quality of their bread or whatever has decreased. Is this just my imagination? My favorite place used to be Cousin's, which is a local Milwaukee/Chicago (I think) chain. But they've gotten kinda crummy. Panaera is muy tasty, but everything they have is like 10,000 calories.
Also, sometimes at Subway I'll just have them pile on as much shit as possible. Like, almost one of everything. Goddamnit I'm going to get as much shit as possible for my $5! Does anyone else do this, or am I just becoming the scrooge mcduck of sandwhich ordering?
Italian White bread Steak Pepper Jack Cheese Toasted Onions Jalapenos Southwest Sauce
Now my mouth's watering.
Edit: Subway vs Quizno, the only two times I've tried Quizno (two different places) were absolutely fucking awful and while sometimes a Subway has a shitty employee who fucks up your sandwich a little, it's still edible and usually still good and satisfying.

Here's a couple misconceptions off the top of my head:
-We don't care about the length of your 6 inch. We eyeball it. -Fresh? The shit actually comes frozen btw. -The white bread is better for you then the wheat as it has no sugars in it. The wheat has the lowest possible whole wheats in it to achieve its name and the brownness is achieved from molasses in the dough. -Unless it says "melt", all fact information is based without cheese. Two slices adds 7g fat. -Some of the cookies like the white chip have over 15g of fat.
You have to be pretty damn naive (and stupid) to think eating at any restaurant is going to be the healthiest possible choice, but if you're on a road trip, pretty sure Subway is going to be your choice over McDonalds.

My old combo was -Flatbread -Buffalo Chicken -Pepperjack Cheese -Jalapeno Peppers -Banana Peppers -Chopotle Southwest
But I'm on a diet so my new combo is pretty much the same, just no cheese, i get it on wheat or italian, and instead of Buffalo chicken I get some combo of ham/turkey/roast beef (SUbway Club, Ham and Turkey, Roast Beef, etc) and instead of Chipotle I get Honey Mustard.

I've never noticed the vomit smell, more like crappy bread baking smell. :D Idk, I've just noticed more and more that their bread is kinda mushy and tasteless. I don't remember it always being that way, like it used to be better. Idk I might be crazy.
Though I have noticed that like 75% of them, at least that I've been too, are run by south asians who speak rather poor english. Which is a little weird, idk maybe it's an easy business for immigrants to start.

You going to school there? Because the other issue is that Cousins is really inconvinient if you live on the east side of the campus if you're not an engineering student. Whereas there's like 4 subways.
amazing things can be achieved with fresh, soft Turkish flatbread link, cream cheese, 'cabbage salad' (German version of coleslaw, without the masses of sugar involved), a bit of tomato sauce and possibly a bit of ham.

------------------
The limit is your imagination!!
I'm hungry.
Are you joey from the show Friends??
lol.
He's right though. Making a good sandwhich is an art. Not talkin' no whitebread balogna stuff. But like a good quality, home made sub sandwhich. Good bread, lots of quality meat, fresh vegitables. It's fucking amazing.
And a good sandwhich + a good beer + chips + saturday baseball game = heaven.
Foot long Turkey on Italian. Toasted. No Cheese. Lettuce, Tomatoes, Black Olives, Onions, Hot Peppers and Sub Sauce (America doesn't have sub sauce, it's basically thick italian dressing).
quiznos \thread but no srsly, Subway Melt on Parmasean oregano with onion cucumber jalapeneo lettuce, chipotle and ranch, salt and pepper and monteray jack cheese toasted. Best subway choice
Prime rib on white with double meat, carbonera sauce, mushrroms, onions and bacon is the best sammich ever, and its at quiznos
don't usually eat at mr. sub or subway.. but mostly get either tuna (any bun is good) with lots of veggies (no pickles or olives) or just plain meatball with 2x white cheese, extra sauce, parma cheese, pepper and no veggies.. lol.
Italian bread Spicy Italian (pepperoni + salami) with buffalo chicken on top American cheese Toasted Bell peppers Red onion Jalapenos Olive oil as dressing.
Kinda expensive, but not adding the lettuce makes the sandwich easier to close/ fit in your mouth. It tastes great for those who love spicy(ish) foods!
Italian Herb and cheese, Ham and Turkey Provolone Toasted Mayo & Mustard Onion Olives Tomato > than Extra Tomato Light Pickles Bell Peppers Lettuce Salt&Pepper
All about the Tomato!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fresh brown bread from the bakery. 4 thin slices of hock (Haxenscheiben in german). 1 big slice of gruyère cheese (the real deal) 1 strong big chili pepper a bit of potatoe salad tartar sauce
pure awesome...
The problem with subway is that the bread sucks (and i guess this also goes for many "countries" in general)... Every sub and every sandwich would be way better with actually "good" bread (i do still like subway from time to time, but for what you get it's just way to expensive here)...
It's also not about munching as much into a sandwich as you can, i would say if you go over 5 ingredients you have overdone it, at least when your not putting frozen crap (like subway) in that "remotely" tastes like the real deal .
Btw: Putting oil and vinegar into a sandwich really makes my stomach shout at you :p.

this is the second time a german lists something with almost no spice and explicitly makes a note of how spicy it is :3
i have nothing against germans, i fucking love meat. but yeah...their spice sense is...(my girlfriend/her family is german and im indian)
i know that the is basiccaly nothing spicy in there but dont know it is spicy. and i often eat peperoni, very spicy currywurst, spicy asian food etc. i love chli cor carne and sure its not as spicy but it is spicy. jsut try it

I was wondering what everyone was referring to as sub sauce. Was really confused.
Writing this thread inspired me to expand my horizons!
A little bit at least... Had the Italian BMT today. Used to be my favorite but it fell out because I was getting tired of the heavy Salami and Pepperoni taste. Now I feel like its rejuvenating my Subway fixation and kick starting my trek into new sandwiches.
Got it REALLY spicy for fun and it turned out quite amazing. Jalapeno Cheese Bread Italian BMT, No Cheese Toasted Extra Southwest Chipotle, Extra Spicy Mustard All veggies except Pickle and Onion Oil/Vinegar and Salt/Pepper
It's interesting to see all the different subs/breads/cheeses that are available in different countries. Australia's subway doesn't seems to have as much variety as the US...
Anyway, we've got a mongolian lamb sub right now, with sour cream, that taste awesome. Grab that with: Italian herbs and cheese bread Cheddar cheese Not toasted! Lettuce Cucumber Onion Jalapeños Pickles Topped off with sour cream as mentioned
I'm not even hungry right now, and I'm still drooling just thinking about it...

Wow dude- Use this as a chance to get those vegetables in the diet, easy! So many veggies are good on a sandwich, everything but cucumbers has its place really. No need to settle for just lettuce and tomato XD
My go-to is an Oven Roasted Chicken. On Herb and Cheese bread. American cheese. Toasted Pickles Olives Onions Tomatoes Spinach Green Peppers Oil and Vinegar Salt and Pepper Honey Mustard sauce
--Pissed whenever I'm looking for cheddar and all they have is this mixed, nonsharp shredded white & yellow crap. No flavor at all. Since this is the case wherever I'm at, it usually ends up being
Italian H&C Turkey American Lettuce, Tomato, Onions, Jalapeno, Pickles, Peperoncinis, Cilantro, Pickles, Spinach with a little Red Wine Vinaigrette on top.
So you have to imagine this sandwich with mild meat stuffed full of veggies and a perfect harmony of spicy peppers with vinegar. It's very satisfying. No bravocado though. Its flavor gets swallowed up by the peppers; not worth it.
I'm a simple man, just a foot long Spicy Italian on Honey Oat with provalone, parmesean, and aregeno (all three of which are likely misspelled). Toasted, naturally.
Footlong italian herbs and cheese bread buffalo chicken provolone cheese a little lettuce a TON of banana peppers could i have some more banana peppers please? maybe just a few more banana peppers.. that's perfect, thanks. ranch oil and vinegar oregano
My first goto is a place called Porky G's in Spokane, Coeur d Alene area they have some pretty good BBQ. Im hooked on the Tritip steak sandwich
-Tritip (Smoked) -Bun Hogue and Vinegar sauce
-Italian BMT (pepperoni, Salami, Ham) -Herb and Cheese Bread(Footlong) -Provalone -NOT Toasted (only in the winter will i toast) -Feta cheese cheese when available -Salad (guess its called lettuce) -Olive -onion -Jalapeno -cucumber -Chipolte Southwest and yellow mustard just 1 small strip of each.
I used to get the meatball marinara from Subway, until the meatballs I got one time were completely frozen...can't eat Subway anymore. I'm more of a Mr. Pickles kinda guy or Togo's
Italian Herb and Cheese bread Provolone cheese -toasted Meatballs ASK FOR NO MARINARA (or as little as possible) Green Peppers Sliced Onions Black Olives More Green Peppers More Sliced Onions More Black Olives 'lil bit salt/pepper, no oil/vinegar Dat Chipotle Southwest sauce (A LOT)

This is exactly what I get, except with oregano instead of onion. You sir, have good taste.
This place is a chain out here in Colorado, destroys Subway on all fronts, so freagin good. I like getting a lettuce wrapped tuna sandwich though, pretty simple.
footlong b.m.t. on italian herb and cheese bread white cheddar, lettuce, green peppers, black olives smothered in chipotle southwest sauce....that shit's delicious
Footlong Spicy Italian on jalapeno cheddar bread provolone not toasted all the veggies (including jalapenos) except pepperoncini and pickles, they seem to overpower the other stuff too much for my taste salt and pepper (no vinegar) Chipotle sauce, god that sauce is fantastical
Though if I had a choice, I'd go to Submarina (California sub chain) and get a roast beef, aged cheddar, avocado sub with the usual accouterments.
I'm not a sandwich fan, but a local place got me into theirs. A small hole in the wall literally called Hole in the Wall. My 100% go to is:
sourdough roll dijon mustard spicy horseradish pepperoni pepperjack lettuce light on tomato extra red onions jalapenos salt and pepper oil and vinegar
Next time I go I might start adding bacon, just because I've been in a bacon kick of recent.
Oh, and for simplicity's sake: Grilled cheese (pepperjack) with bacon with healthy amounts of Tabasco dripped on every bite. (And yes, I know Tabasco is not very spicy compared to other things, it just simply tastes the best with this.)
Honey oat bread or wheat Italian BMT (salami, pepperoni, ham) Lettuce Tomato Onions Bell peppers Olives Banana peppers and jalapenos on the side A splash of vinegar
Has plenty of meat and veggies, avoids the fattening sauces, feels healthy (although still very high calorie), not toasted
I make my own. Don't really have a choice, as I have the misfortune of living in a country where no one can make a sub worth a damn.
I thinly slice a steak into strips (about 1/4 inc thick), toss them with teriyaki suace, then stir fry in a wok. Baguette for the bread. Dijonnaise (or just a mayo and mustard mix) on the bottom. Chopped leek, cherry tomatoes, peppers, black olives, pickles. Can add jalapeno. Gouda cheese. Steak strips on top, right out of the pan. Dabs of sweet chili sauce on top.
I'm not a vegetarian, quite far from it, but subway has the ingredients for a mean veggie sandwich: 9-grain honey oat Swiss cheese, toasted. A little bit of chipotle (if you don't specifically say a little bit, they go wayyyy overboard for my taste) every veggie except tomato and avocado (I love both, not in this instance though) salt and pepper. Gooood stuff.
Mine is generally pretty simple - whatever meat I'm feeling like (usually chicken parm, turkey, steak, or whatever is cheap and tasty) with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, and a dash of whatever dressing I feel like (often none.)
1) Combine a teaspoon of dill and a good dose of black ground pepper into a bowl. Add a coating of olive oil and a full container of cream cheese. Mix - you might need to use your hands and it gets messy. This is your "dill cream cheese". Set aside.
2) Marinate sliced tomatoes in your favorite italian dressing. They need to marinate for at least half a day, preferably a full day.
3) Cut a french loaf of bread in half, standard sub style. Spread the dill cream cheese, and don't be too shy with it. Then cover it with slices of provolone cheese. Broil it in the oven just until the cheese melts.
4) Add the marinated tomatoes and a light layer of finely chopped lettuce. Thinly sliced cucumbers are good as well.
edit: And chopped green bell peppers are good too.
This is already a sinfully delicious vegetarian sub as it is, but feel free to add a thin layer of deli ham or turkey. Roast beef could work, but not really that kind of sandwich, imo. Credit goes to a restaurant I worked at as a high-schooler, but I stole it and made it my own.
Before I cut these sorts of food out of my life I usually went with Italian BMT with lettuce carrot onion no sauce. When I worked in an office we'd go to subway a few times a week for lunch. Nothing like some processed wheat and meat to send you to sleep in the afternoon XD

As a cheap university student, I ate subway throughout much of first year.
Herb and cheese meatballs cheese toasted lettuce tomatoes onions cucumbers pickles peppers(all) honey mustard sweet onion sauce (formerly) the cheapest way to fill up when really hungry
Now it depends, but the toppings remain largely the same, and meatballs is still the most cost effective way to fill up IMO.

When I'm at home I make a completely different type of sandwich: Fresh homemade half and half bread, toasted Some slice of double Gloucester cheese. A thin layer of some kind of cream cheese with herbs on one of the pieces of bread A thin layer of raspberry jam on the other piece of bread Ham, a couple of salami slices, and a layer of crunchy lettuce.
Basically stuff everything in there from the fridge. Good stuff. I'ma go make one now.
Italian Herbs and Cheese Bread Cut Grilled Chicken Chipotle Sauce Provolone Cheese Spinach (instead of lettuce) Tomatoes Black Olives Jalopenos (pickled) Bell Peppers (pickled)
Had Subway again for lunch today. Found myself back on my usual Turkey Breast and Ham, but with a bit of a twist. Instead of Jalapeño Cheese I went Honey Oat. Worked out well and I'm enjoying my newfound desire to try different sandwiches.
Quick question to everyone though- what's your favorite sauce combination at Subway? I often mix Chipitle Southwest with Spicy Mustard for a fiery burn but I'm wondering if there are any secretly amazing mixes.
might have different things herein nz than in USA; but heres something i always get.. its cheap and its delicious!
meatball sub footlong roasted garlic bread NOT toasted (although toasted is good to) chedder cheese lettuce, cucumber, carrots, black olives sauces: sweet onion + bbq no salt and pepper
to get the highest bang for ma buck i just get everything. Usually cheese is cheddar, italian herbs and cheese, meat is usually chicken Teriyaki, with sweet onion sauce
Used to eat at Subway whenever I could but now I'm forcing myself to refrain after looking at their sodium counts, anyways my favorite sub from there is/was Italian BMT (ham, pepperoni, salami) on Italian Herbs and Cheese with Provolone Lettuce Banana Peppers Black Olives Honey Mustard and Jalapenos if you're feeling adventorous
Pizza sub White bread Toasted Extra pepperoni Tomato Swiss cheese, Parmesan added after toasting Fairly standard and nothing too special but tastes amazing.
Cold Cut The bread varies depending on my mood but typically white or herb/cheese. Not toasted Swiss cheese small amount of lettuce (more for texture than anything) Lots of tomato lots of green/red pepper decent amount of onions small amount of pickles obscene amount of mayo More mayo. I usually tell the sandwich artiste to put as much mayo as they are allowed to without getting fired.
Steak & Cheese White bread or Herb and cheese Toasted American cheese Lettuce Tomato Onions Jalapenos A little salt and pepper Oregano Southwest Chipolte sauce
Subway Club Herb and cheese Provolone cheese Lettuce Tomato Onion Salt and pepper Oregano Mayo Mustard Oil & Vinegar
I wish I was more adventurous, I have become a Subway addict and I am racking up the points on my loyalty card. The standard (and only) sub for me is...
Herb and cheese footlong bread Spicy Italian Cheese, not toasted Letuce, Gherks, Jalepenos, Olives Chipotle and Hot chili sauce
It's amazing how many people I meet that don't like Subway sandwiches... you make it yourself! Do they ever make their own sandwich and go "my sandwich sucks, i'm not eating that!"
in here Subway cant beat local bread with homemade pâté, sliced sausages, pickles and more for one-tenth the price of a footlong :p but I do admit mixing and creating Subway is sorta fun
Italian Herbs and Cheese Chicken Bacon Ranch Avocado Extra Bacon Provolone Every Veggie they offer (cept the peno's) Honey Mustard A tidbit of mayo if I'm feeling it. toasted fosho Soda
Italian Herb bread Cold cut combo Provolone Lettuce Onion Jalapeño Banana pepper Pickles Chipotle sauce Coriander + Oregano Toasted (I prefer toasted but it's not that good if left too long. During college the Subway near my place had 2 footlong for 6.99 - changed to 7.99 in Jr/Sr year - after 4pm thing, so I always had 1 toasted one not toasted).
This is what I would do for lunch at school almost everyday as food is expensive downtown Chicago.
Bring peanut butter and honey in backpack as well as a knife. Buy epic sized 60 cent day old jimmy john's bread. Buy $1 can of Arizona Tea Apply peanut butter and honey to bread.
Profit! I was always full at lunch, at ate the rest on my train ride home
Also Peanut butter and honey is great with animal crackers
Not sure if this counts as a sandwich, but bagel with cream cheese and strawberry jam is a great combination.

In poland, subway is expensive - 20 PLN which is more than McDolan's and KFC for a burger. But on the rare occasion I go there I get: Herb & Parmezan bread double bacon ham cheese lettuce tomatoes grilled yoghurt
Italian Herbs and Cheese Provolone Cheese Toasted Every single vegetable minus any peppers, (green, banana) minus jalapenos, and minus pickles Mayo Sweet Onion Sauce Cut in fourths
Wheat bread Ham or Turkey Swiss Cheese All the vegetables Vinegar
I don't care for Subway, I just go for a healthier alternative to other fast food. I think the Tuna and Meatball subs are pretty good but they are the most calorie dense too
Francesinha is a instant heart attack since it's bread with sausage, fried or grilled beef, cheese, ham (depending off the place might have more stuff) all under tons of a tomato and beer sauce!
I eat of these per year since it's not a tradition of Lisbon, even tho you can eat it here, the better ones are from Porto!
I prefer sandwiches "light" with veggies, cheese etc..

Might be forgetting a topping. The jalapenos there are mega sketch so I don't mess with em.
JJ Gargantuan no mayo, no tomato is better by orders of magnitude though, plus you can get one in like 3 seconds as opposed to waiting the eternity subway seems to take. The Vito no mayo, no tomato is pretty good too, as it the Hunters Club no mayo, no tomato. 1/4lb of roast beef is pretty hard to beat.
Honey oat bread cold cut combo(im disappoint that so few people seem to like cold cut.) peperjack cheese (double cheese if your not a pussy) mayo, mustard, lettuce, olives, and not fucking toasted.

Subway you can get 6inch or 12inch. You can get a 6 foot party sub too lol. At Jimmy Johns theirs are 8inch but have way more stuff, plus their bread comes straight from god himself on the wings of angels. I believe Quiznos are 8 inch as well but I haven't eaten there in forever.
My favorite sandwich from a sub shop comes from Quizno's. I worked at one for two summers so I got a chance to try several different things.
Rosemary Parmesean Bread Chipotle Mayo & Zesty Grill Sauce Prime Rib Pepper Jack Cheese Additional hot sauce or batch sauce (quizno's pepper sauce) as needed And of course a cup or bowl of chili because the chili at Quizno's is definitely my favorite fast food chili (it does actually have some taste even if it comes frozen in a bag)
This sandwich aims to be about as spicy as possible without using jalepenos, because I don't like the way they taste. I usually don't like eating vegetables on sandwiches from sub shops because the generally come from a bag and usually have been sitting around for a while so they just aren't fresh and tasty to me.
Now for a homemade sandwich, my wife is Vietnamese so I get the treat of having homemade Bánh mì sandwiches.
Homemade crusty bread Beef cooked and the juice leftover goes into a mixture of fish sauce and dangerous peppers (not sure if there is a name for the little red peppers in English, also I think there is probably a little more that goes into the sauce) Pickled carrots and daikon Green onion Lettuce *forgot about cucumber spears And of course more of the Bánh mì sauce, can't get enough of that stuff. Even with the vegetables to help cool you down, the dangerous peppers will give your mouth a nice burning sensation.
I feel like this was a terribly long post about sandwiches.

1) leftover KFC chicken (cold), sour cream, pickles, lots of fresh ground black pepper. 2) smoked salmon, avocado, cream cheese, few drips of lemon juice and grated lemon zest if you got it. 3) cold cuts, mayo, green apple slices 4) chili con carne or bean salad, doritos chip crumbs left at the bottom of the bag (with lots of seasoning), sliced red onion
I could go on but these are really good. I usually have olives on the side.

I have my own Meatball Sub Combination I will gladly share with TLers
Meatball Sub Any bread you want Swiss Cheese Toasted No Lettuce (make sure you say it fast cause their hand instinctively goes for the lettuce) Tomatoes Lots of Green Pepper Lots of Onions (When I say lots, I mean it, pile it on there. You want it for the freshness and the crunch) Pickles Banana peppers Sweet Onion sauce Subway Sauce
Also since the title says "or other" sandwiches I'll share a few sandwiches I've created over the years.
I'm a student and don't have a lot of money for meat so alot of my sandwiches are vegetarian creations, though I'm not vegetarian.
Double Decker Peanut Butter, Nutella and Banana Sandwich
Pretty self explanatory. You chop up a banana, take 3 slices of bread, put peanut butter on two of the slices of bread, put nutella on one side of the third slice, put half the banana make one deck of the sandwich, then put nutella on the other side of the 3rd slice, then the rest of the banana. You can also do it as a regular sandwich, it's still pretty filling. Also the banana is optional I make it alot just as peanut butter and nutella.
Super Avocado Power Sandwich
Why is this a power sandwich you ask? Wait until you try it. This sandwich will blow you away I promise, and though it has no meat, it is still satisfying as hell due to the melted cheese and avocado. Toast 2 slices of bread lightly, while they are toasting slice any kind of cheese you want. I usually use cheddar or monterey jack. Slice 3-4 slices of cheese. Slice an onion vertically to make rings. Put as much onion as you want on the toasted bread. Put the cheese on top and put the bread in the oven around 350F to melt the cheese over the onions. While it is in the oven, slice a tomato. Put salt and pepper on the tomato slices. Cut open the avocado and slice it for the sandwich. Assemble the sandwich once the cheese is melted with the tomato and avocado. Add some mayo and/or dijon mustard to your taste.
I always liked tuna on wheat bread with everything except olives. For sauce I go with honey mustard and salt and pepper usually. It's good on almost everything.
2 slices large Tuscan Bread Lightly butter outsides of slices and panini press them until golden brown, 1 breaded parmesean encrusted tilapia fillet, baked about 4 minutes at 450* then deep fried until just crispy 1/6 garlic butter mixed with 5/6 mayo and dash of lemon juice (or cliantro-lime mayo) 2 slices provolone cheese romaine lettuce (or spinach) julienned red onion roma tomato slices (or bruschetta)
Sandwiches are just awesome fullstop. Subway's great, but I'm not the type to really pick and choose too much outside of meat preference. Hallopinos, pickles and tomatoes can sometimes be too overpowering with certain meats - so they might not make the cut, but generally all salad is nice. I do dislike those sort of stereotypical American sandwiches, 5 types of meat with 2 types of cheese, a fried egg, tomato sauce, fried and no salad? That's just disgusting imo.

This sounds amazing...!
Seems like a ridiculous cooking time though just for a sandwich. Sure its restaurant quality, but still O.o
Get chicken breast and some of the marinara sauce from the meatballs on it. Pepper jack cheese. Don't toast... yet.
Get mayo/mustard if you like them. Get bell peppers, onions, jalapenos, bell peppers. Now toast.
After toasting get some lettuce on it, tomatoes if you like them. I usually skip salt and pepper, but the guy who told me about this used to get them on it, too.
Parmesan bread Roast Beef - Extra meat Pepper Jack Cheese - Extra cheese Toast after these 2 Sallad 'n' Tomatoes Jalapenos Onions (Optional) Chili Sauce (The red one)
had a whole how to write up described for my fav sandwich to make myself.

I didn't know such a thing was possible; truly an inspiration.
Now for Andy's Hot Ham Sammich. You will need: 2 pieces of whole wheat bread 2 slices of swiss cheese 6-8 thin slices of deli smoked ham Butter, Lawry's Seasoned Salt
Butter one side of a piece of bread, drop butter-side down in a skillet on medium heat. As this browns, add the swiss and then the ham (I shred/wad/scrunch my ham to give some thickness/texture to it), sprinkle some Lawry's on top, and then add the second piece of bread (butter side up). By this time the bottom should be browned, so flip er over and continue until toasted to perfection. This is great with a can of vegetable soup, bachelor comfort food.
Also, if you make this sammich for a chick after 2am, after more than a few drinks you will get laid.

Wow...just wow. For some reason I never thought about making a grilled cheese with meat. You changed my life!
I will eat any celiac friendly sandwich... Celiac disease is like being allergic to chairs. You could sit in benches & stuff but you always notice it when all there is is chairs everywhere- because why wouldn't you use a chair? Benches are hard to make and big. And when you go to a seminar or something and go get a bean bag everyone thinks you're nuts (in-n-out, order a 3x3 protein style, implied DIET style, with animal fries, unhealthy health food so I look like a troll)
I miss few things like I miss sandwiches. But places like in-n-out and stuff are great, I just hope these places find out about gluten free bread that is useable- especially subway where I cheat to get a Swiss meatball marinara with everything on it toasted Italian cheese bread so that the lowest percentage of wheat per mass even though I'm cheating like to make my gut bleed... If they would just use Udi's or something and charge like $3 extra... But it's nice to make my own at home now & then, usually ham or pastrami related cold sandwiches but a rare treat, hard to get the good bread that's not all crumbly.
This is a sub i've been working on for awhile, finally think its just right..
foot long cheese and herb toasted double meat steak sub (bacon optional) mozzarella cooked and old english added after lettuce onion tomato olives pickles salt and pepper mayo + ranch sauce
Had a new combo the other day which was really fantastic. Jalapeno cheese Bread Turkey No cheese, toasted Sweet Onion Sauce Light Mayo buffalo sauce All veggies except onions, pickles, banana peppers. Sal Pepper, Oil Vinegar
Was really quite good and I might repeat again except with Southwest Chipotle in place of Sweet Onion sauce
Subway thread? I remember what one of my teacher's said. "Try eating subway without that sauce, it tastes like paper." Which I agree with completely. But their sauces are like FUAARK amazing.
Flatbread Pizza sub cheese and toasted Chipotle and sweet onion sauce. Rest is personal preference.
I maybe order Subway once a month, but last time I went there I tried out there new sandwhich that had something like 4 different kinds of meat in it? On flatbread with chiptole sauce = amazing.
Not too sure if they have it anymore though. Looked on the Subway site, couldn't find it.

really pushing the boundaries of what a sandwich can achieve.
My friends and I did this about 8 months ago. We ended up putting the sandwich in tin foil, then putting it on a big speaker, then put the other speaker on top, and had my friend sit on it for the better part of 3 hours. It was absolutely delicious.
Personally the tastiest sandwich I've eaten are very simple ones. Basically just feta cheese that you crush into a paste with a fork and then mixed with some olive oil and garlic. Orgasmic.
I usually just get an oven roasted chicken breast on Italian herb and cheese bread. Pepper jack cheese, toasted, lettuce, cucumber, pickle, hot peppers, and ranch. Yes, I am boring, but will probably try something else next time I go !
Oh man...so many combinations to try out. Bookmarking .
I'm going on a diet these days, so I figure I'll just do the simple cold cut combo with a low-fat sauce, and tons of healthy veggies. And some days I'll just pack some fruits and veggies instead, or some low fat shakes.
My favorite is spicy italian on roasted garlic with provolone cheese, toasted.
Veggies: lettuce, onions, green pepper, tomatoes, jalapenos, and occasionally olives.
Sauce: mayo, chipotle, or sweet onion depending on my mood.
I like this because spicy italian is fairly cheap, 5 bucks back then. How much are your sandwiches because I don't want to spend that much on a sandwich and all of the ones you guys said sounds quite appetizing.
At McDonalds, I have found via a friend that you can get an amazing sandwich for $2.00, you buy a McDouble and a crispy chicken sandwich and put the crispy chicken sandwich in between the 2 beef patties. The name for it is inappropriate but you can probably guess close by keeping in mind that the sandwich is one white patty in between two black ones.

Heres a picture of the inside!
heh, when my bro makes them, he eats the whole fucking thing. One of the variations he made had a whole boned roast chicken with stuffing and chipolata (sp?) sausages in it. He made one for me and my girlfriend and we could only finish 1/2 to 3/4 of it before we were was totally destroyed. Full on meat sweats and need for a blanket and a warm corner to curl up in. I'll have to get him to make some more, or attempt it myself and post some pics!!!
They are totally fucking delicious though, I seriously encourage people to try it. If I could find the guy who invented this I would give him a kiss, a man kiss... on the lips.
Hope im not too late to the party! This sub is great right here....
