Wow, what the fuck. I couldn't sleep, so I figured I'd jump online really quick and see what was going on. At first I figured maybe reformatting somehow didn't get rid of that last virus I had, but then I realized it was just Norton. By the way, I took the screenshot after I'd already closed about 30 of these windows. Fucking bullshit. So, to my point: How the fuck do I get rid of this program? I've heard it's terribly difficult.

lmao
norton sucks balls man
you are better off with the viruses
i dont know anything about removing that beast, but you could try google im sure there are plenty of resources out there
what's weird about norton is that it's sister program, symantec anti-virus, is really quite good (i use corporate edition)

Buy a mac. No viruses! No shitty anti-virus software necessary!

1.) I don't have the money to buy a Mac.*

3.) No.
* Yes, #'s (1) and (2) contradict each other, but that's because a dollar spent on a Mac is a dollar wasted. No offense to anyone here who owns a Mac, but you're an idiot. I hate Mac's. My entire public school system used Mac's up until my high school, but then we just had Dell's with those shitty keyboards. Fucking tax dollars wasted. I've never paying taxes, fuck that.

Yeah, so they used one of the shitty old OS systems. ^_^
Anyways, my post was partially a joke. I own a Dell, but I work for Apple, and the Mac OSX does have some things that put it ahead of PCs, like no viruses, more stable OS, etc. etc., but PCs are ahead in other aspects, namely gaming and compatibility, etc. So don't take what I said too seriously.

My Computer -> add or remove programs (top left)
The most annoying thing about norton is how it makes your recycle bin into that ungodly 'UnErase Wizard'

As people have already said, get Kasparsky or my favorite NOD32. I've tested pretty much every major antivirus program and ended up with a choice between these two.

Wow, all these posts and no answer to his question.
To purge Norton from your system (a must before installing other AV programs), download this: Norton Removal Tool If you have trouble running in normal mode, run it in safe mode. The in normal mode again.

Another great program to know about when you want to remove something that gets deeply into the system is autoruns : http://www.sysinternals.com/utilities/autoruns.html
It's a small and sexy programm that list you all the things starting up on boot... and let you disable or remove them from boot.
There are like million places within Windows to make a program launch on start up, this is the easiest way to list them all!

I use a mix of kaspersky, zonealarm and ad-aware to get rid of annoying things.
|
you don't know how to manage a computer, i never had problems with symatec programs, and i use systemworks, internet firewall, etc.. Zonealarm i heard it's okay but has some problems with starcraft, some friend of mine installed it and starcraft would just start in like 3-4 minutes, it was written on gg.net too. I read that Microsoft is currently using zonealarm as their default anti-virus in their next windows version, so bad news for us. i tried once to install mcafee 2005 all-in-one and totally raped my computer.Anyway, i removed Sym.A-V once and had no problems so try the usual pattern, or use safe mode.

Had any luck attracting women, rpf?

Zonealarm is awesome. I got it to work right with Starcraft perfectly fine. Requires a bit of tweaking, but it's really great.

norton is good but on some computers it seems to have some kinda conflict
|
norton and kazaa, they belong to the same category.
for the best antivirus, go for AVK or F-secure if you have 512MB+ RAM (since they use triple engines) ,for lesser RAM go for NOD32, personally i use NOD32 even though i have 1GB RAM but it kicks ass.
