The idea behind it is that poorer children can go to more affluent schools if they choose to. It prevents richer neighborhoods from having significantly better schools than poorer neighborhoods and telling those poor kids they can't go to the better school. It allows the poor families choose to send their child to the better school.

Going last is ALWAYS better then going first in a closing statement Ok I know I post often with double standards and closing statements are nice. The only time I did a debate in a class I didn't close last and I made it a systematic point to shut down every obvious closing path for my opponent. However, on tomorrow they will be taking out of order the sound bites of the candidates.

It's always funny watching what the conservatives and libertarians in this thread think racism is. Somehow, they only seem to bring it up when they think there's some injustice against white people. Reminds me of a few hours ago when another of these posters accused Obama of racism for daring to speak about inequalities in outcomes for minorities.

The reason they're in a low income area is the price of housing is low. Allowing students to go to schools outside their cachment isn't truly a choice for low income people only for the affluent.

How terrible, the end result was investing in green energy with it failing. But wait, it wasn't a complete failure because these green energy companies made off with a lot of money and they just so happened to be Obama's friends. That goes down as a loss-win for Obama if his goal is to actually help the American people. At least he won something, right?
