I think there's a possibility it is just a broken machine or something, but the warning you quoted says "something of substance" and a voting machine that clearly doesn't let people vote for Obama seems substantial to me. The video in question is very cropped and shows nothing but a screen and a finger. Its unclear whether it was taken within a voting precinct or even on the day of the election. People are jumping to conclusions based on very little. Yes, its a video. Yes, it shows what appears to be a voting machine screen malfunctioning and not allowing a vote for President Obama. But it falls far short of substantial proof of anything. The guy who posted this video on reddit has said he is being vetted by major news organizations right now to try and get the full story as clearly there a lot of elements that are not accounted for.

This looks like the T/F portion of a final exam. California does a lot of things through popular vote that other states do through legislature. Part of why our budget is so hard to balance is that the people can pass huge spending projects like the high speed railways and the elected officials just have to find the money.

I skipped over a few things for my state, like the secretary of state. I tried researching the candidates but I couldn't find anything meaningful, just personal statements that don't actually mean anything (e.g. "I understand what it takes to get us working again!") It's better to not vote than to vote ignorantly in my opinion. I voted on all the measures (or ballot initiatives some states call them) though. I voted to legalize weed AND casinos. Fun stuff. Also I voted for Gary Johnson for President, of course ![]()

And a President should never lie to the American people. I don't give a crap how bad it'll make him look if he tells the truth. Do you care about the safety and effectiveness of the US military and the CIA? Or are you are so obsessed with Obama going down in flames you would endanger troops overseas for 'the truth?' You'll probably find out well after the election what actually happened. We do know the administration, the Military, the CIA and the State Department should have been better prepared for a terrorist attack. But Ambassdor Stevens also should have followed orders and not returned to the consulate. He still would be alive. And yes, Obama could have levelled a city block with a drone strike, but that would be ignoring the fact that for most of the day, it was protestors at the consulate, and not necessarily terrorists. It's one of those tough calls than any president has to make with imperfect information. This one cost four lives. To be brutally, brutally honest, that is nothing to compared to the risk and potential consequences of Bush's invasion of Iraq, or the Obama's raid to kill Bin Laden.

A lot of propositions put to Californians are failed legislation that crumples under legal scrutiny and challenges. Giving it to the people with a simple explanation like "This puts bad people in jail" is a way of getting around that. Prop 35 is one of those issues that should be dealt with by state Congress and its lawyers.

It seems like overkill. I can't remember who said it, but America was intended to be a Republic where citizens vote for someone to represent their interests, and not a extreme democracy where everyone gets a say every time you make a decision.
