Someone actually said this, so I decided to see what the hell this was about and this is the first song I could get lyrics to:

[Chorus x2- 50 Cent]
Clickity clank clickity clank
The money goes into my piggy bank

[Bridge- 50 Cent]
I'll get atcha, my knife cuts ya skin
I'll get atcha, blow shots at ya man
I'll get atcha, Tupac don't pretend
I'll get atcha, I'll put that to an end

[Verse 1- 50 Cent]
That shit is oh, don't be screamin' get at me dawg
Have you runnin' for ya life when I match ya boy
I get to wavin' that semi, like its legal
A lil nigga hurt his arm lettin' off that eagle
You know me, black on black bentley, big ol' black nine
I'll clap your monkey ass, get black on black crime
Big ol' chrome rims, clean you know why I shine
C'mon man, you know how I shine
I'm in the hood, in the drop, Teflon vinyl top
Got a hundred guns, a hundred clips, why I don't hear no shots
That fat nigga thought Lean Back was "In Da Club"
My shit sold 11 mill, his shit was a dud
Jada don't fuck with me if you wanna eat
Cause I'll do your lil ass like Jay did Mobb Deep
Yeah homie, in New York, niggas like your vocals
But thats only New York dawg, your ass is local

[Chorus x2- 50 Cent]
Clickity clank clickity clank
The money goes into my piggy bank

[Bridge- 50 Cent]
Yeah yeah, get more money, more money
Yeah yeah yeah, get more money, more money
Yeah yeah yeah, get more money, more money
Yeah yeah yeah, get more money, more money
Yeah

[Verse 2- 50 Cent]
Banks shit sells, Buck shit sells, Game shit sells
I'm rich as hell, Shyne poppin' off his mouth from a cell
He don't want it with me, he in PC
I can have a nigga run up on him with a shank
For just a few pennies out my piggy bank
Yayo, bring the condoms, I'm in room 203
Freak bitch look like Kim before the surgeory
Its an emergency, a Michael Jackson see
Looked at a picture and said she looks like me
Kelis said her milkshake brings all the boys to the yard
Then Nas went and tattooed the bitch on his arm
I mean that way out in Cali, niggas know these guns
First thing they say about you, is you a sucker for love
This is chess, not checkers, these are warning shots
After your next move I'll give you what I got

[Chorus x2- 50 Cent]
Clickity clank clickity clank
The money goes into my piggy bank

[Bridge- 50 Cent]
Yeah yeah, get more money, more money
Yeah yeah yeah, get more money, more money
Yeah yeah yeah, get more money, more money
Yeah yeah yeah, get more money, more money
Yeah

[Bridge- 50 Cent]
I'll get atcha, I'll punch out your grill
I'll get atcha, let off that blue steal
I'll get atcha, nigga I'm for real
I'll get atcha, you'll get your ass killed

[Outro- 50 Cent]
Yeah
Yeah
Hahahaha
Ya'll niggas gotta do somethin' now man
All that shoot 'em up shit ya'll be talkin'
You gotta do somethin' baby
I mean, I mean c'mon man everybody's listenin'
nigga everybody's listenin'
Hahahaha
I know you ain't gon' just let 50 do you like that
I mean damn rep your hood nigga
nigga you hard right?
Pop off
Yayo get mobs niggas on the phone
And tell the niggas I said grip up
niggas got a green light on these monkies
Hahahaha

not exactly.. that's what you get when people who are illiterate try to shoot somebody like 15 times but can't get a good shot off, and then that person recovers and other people who are near illiterate think he's a god or something... amirite?

Rap for me sort of falls into the same catagory as the Numa Numa Song or other terrible techno. It's sort of fun and catchy to listen to as a joke, but it gets old fast.

That particular song was a diss towards other rappers, Fat Joe, Jadakiss and Nas, it wasn't meant to be lyrical genius. You guys don't like it because most of you like rock...and you compare your rap to rock....when are you going to understand you can't compare the two genres, they're completely different. What do they say thats so good in rock? Pls enlighten me? If you don't like it then don't listen to it. But in the end its still selling alot more records than any of the bands you listen to. O and you think people that like rap don't separate the good type of rap from the bad one, real lyrical rap vs Club shit made just to sell talking about money cars only? Just like you separate your "real" rock from your "gay emo shit" or w.e . And if you can't understand why people like rap .... then don't keep on trying, chances are you never will. Just like some of you don't like techno....theres alot more to it thatn just "the same shit all over again and again" . Its a different genre therefore calls for different aspects like the way it builds up to a climax while incorporating other rythms, you cant appreciate that because your not an average listener of techno, while a person that listens to it can distinguish which song took more talent, or is better in their aspects. Same goes for rap.

Iced earth lyrics:

6. Nightmares

[Music: Schaffer / Lyrics: Schaffer]

The feeling that you get when we creep inside
You won't see us there, you won't feel our stare
But when we're next to you we do all we can do
To get the cold sweat out, watch you squirm about
And as you try to move we grab and strangle you
With all of your deceit and our reality

Night
Nightmares
In the night

Hell is coming down, your fate has turned around
Too scared to make a sound
Now you're frozen there in your human shell
It's a nightmare I am the god of fear

Night
Nightmares
In the night

Another song:

8. Pure Evil

[Music: Schaffer, Shawver / Lyrics: Schaffer]

Cannons pound into the night
Angels soar into the sky
The battle rages on
Deliverance unholy one

The seeds of hate fly tonight
Good and evil light the sky
Another vision from inside
I know it's wrong I can't deny

For seven years I have reigned
In this damned and desolate hell
Now I've lived the masters vengeance
It saved me from myself

We paint the sky with blood tonight
Setting free the damned to fight
The whore of Babylon is here
The end of the storm is near

[Chorus
Pure evil
Feel the pain from the jackals wrath
Pure evil
Dance in flames for the final quest

Hear the ghost of violence
Fear the God of detriment

The land on earth is soaked with blood
Hear the screams of the helpless ones
Axes yield and daggers fly
Ripping through all flesh in sight

We paint the sky with blood tonight
Setting free the damned to fight
The whore of Babylon is here
The end of the storm is near

......cmon now...
another? ok :
12. Burnt Offerings

[Music : Schaffer, Shawver / Lyrics : Schaffer]

In one last breath
You'll feel this damned old soul
You'll see the things I see

For all these years
Of pain and sacrifice
You'll know the pain I know

Of all these things
I offer unto you
Infernal wisdom waits

Now unleashed
Like the flames of hate
My sacrifice is made

Every note
And every word you hear
Comes from deep within

An angry soul
That twists and turns inside
Pondering this life

Crimson eyes
Staring through your lies
Awakes the inner rage

Take my knife
Make my sacrifice
You're my burnt offering

Spill your blood
Offer me good omen
Make the sacrifice, the hours close at hand
Burn your soul
Offer me good omen
Take your very life, this I command

Dark shadows fall on this sacred ground
Where true evil lies, summon them to rise
Take the traitors, thieves and liars
Feed them to the fire
But first, spread their blood around
The message will be found
Walk carefully my friends stab my back again
A warning from the sky

These are not idle threats my friends
We're slaughtering the lambs
True vengeance is on the rise
The traitors shall be damned
Cast their bodies to the flames

Spill your blood
Offer me good omen
Make the sacrifice, the hours close at hand
Burn your soul
Offer me good omen
Take your very life, this I command

...now seriously MAN!! I WANNA LISTEN TO THIS TYPE OF MUSIC IN MY CAR !! cmon this shit would depress the shit out of me. Don't get pissed cuz theres people out there that like to listen to more uplifting music than this! I'm not saying its not poetic, its VERY deep ...lol...but something i'd listen to daily if i was living down in a basement maybe. And im not saying songs are like this one, byt if i were...thats exactly what you just did from that song. There's probably nicer songs out there, i don't doubt that, but i would still rather listen to a good beat than heavy metal guitars drowning out words. My 2 cents.

Gonna sleep now.

Load up on guns
Bring your friends
It’s fun to lose
And to pretend
She’s overboard
Myself assured
I know I know
A dirty word

Hello (x 16)

With the lights out it’s less dangerous
Here we are now
Entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now
Entertain us
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My libido
Yea

I’m worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end

Hello (x 16)

With the lights out it’s less dangerous
Here we are now
Entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now
Entertain us
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My libido
Yea

And I forget
Just what it takes
And yet I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard
Its hard to find
Oh well, whatever, nevermind

Hello (x 16)
With the lights out it's less dangerous
Here we are now
Entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now
Entertain us
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My Libido
Yeah, a denial
A denial
A denial...

ROFL

What is this song all about?
Can’t figure any lyrics out
How do the words to it go?
I wish you’d tell me, I don’t know
Don’t know, don’t know, don’t know, oh no
Don’t know, don’t know, don’t know...

Now I’m mumblin’ and I’m screamin’
And I don’t know what I’m singin’
Crank the volume, ears are bleedin’
I still don’t know what I’m singin’
We’re so loud and incoherent
Boy, this oughta bug your parents
Yeah

It’s unintel-ligible
I just can’t get it through my skull
It’s hard to bargle nawdle zouss(? )
With all these marbles in my mouth
Don’t know, don’t know, don’t know, oh no
Don’t know, don’t know, don’t know...

Well, we don’t sound like madonna
Here we are now, we’re nirvana
Sing distinctly? we don’t wanna
Buy our album, we’re nirvana
A garage band from seattle
Well, it sure beats raising cattle
Yeah

And I forgot the next verse
Oh well, I guess it pays to rehearse
The lyric sheet’s so hard to find
What are the words? oh, nevermind
Don’t know, don’t know, don’t know, oh no
Don’t know, don’t know, don’t know...

Well, I’m yellin’ and we’re playin’
But I don’t know what I’m sayin’
What’s the message I’m conveyin’?
Can you tell me what I’m sayin’?
So have you got some idea?
Didn’t think so -- well, I’ll see ya
Sayonara, sayonara
Ayonawa, odinawa
Odinaya, yodinaya
Yaddayadda, yaaahyaaah
Ayaaaaaah

Except Iced Earth incorporates MUSIC, something rap rarely-if-ever does. Good music as well. And no one ever called Iced Earth lyrics "poetry". Burnt Offerings was written from the perspective of a human possessed by Lucifer in "Dante's Inferno".

Oh yeah, and Nightmares is one of the worst songs Iced Earth has EVER done.

Crank the volume, ears are bleedin’
I still don’t know what I’m singin’
We’re so loud and incoherent
Boy, this oughta bug your parents
Yeah

It’s unintel-ligible
I just can’t get it through my skull
It’s hard to bargle nawdle zouss(? )
With all these marbles in my mouth
Don’t know, don’t know, don’t know, oh no
Don’t know, don’t know, don’t know...

Well, we don’t sound like madonna
Here we are now, we’re nirvana
Sing distinctly? we don’t wanna
Buy our album, we’re nirvana
A garage band from seattle
Well, it sure beats raising cattle
Yeah

And I forgot the next verse
Oh well, I guess it pays to rehearse
The lyric sheet’s so hard to find
What are the words? oh, nevermind
Don’t know, don’t know, don’t know, oh no
Don’t know, don’t know, don’t know...

Well, I’m yellin’ and we’re playin’
But I don’t know what I’m sayin’
What’s the message I’m conveyin’?
Can you tell me what I’m sayin’?
So have you got some idea?
Didn’t think so -- well, I’ll see ya
Sayonara, sayonara
Ayonawa, odinawa
Odinaya, yodinaya
Yaddayadda, yaaahyaaah
Ayaaaaaah

The chorus to Smells Like Teen Spirit is describing the feeling of when you first arrive at a party. And you got the last part wrong. He ends with "a denial" like 4 times.
Human teleportation, molecular decimation, breakdown and reformation is inherently purging. It makes a man acute.

I'm not a big fan of nirvana, and I think it's a pretty dumb song

the problem with listing out rap lyrics or whatever, is that they dont sound like nearly as good as without the music and beat behind them. i guess you can say the same for rock. however "good rap" for the most part has a lot of lyrics, and its hard to keep up the lyrical quality. i like all sorts of music, but no matter how open minded i am, 50 cent straight sucks a big one. at least in my opinion. see i can find a good rapper with some good lyrics. THis is Sage Francis - Inherited Scars

[Verse One]
I didn't tell anyone about what I seen or heard that day, mums the word still
I'm scared to plant ideas into your head while your rebellious side is fertile
Hurdles are getting knocked down
I'm running a losing race
Your legs aren't the only ones marked up - how many dreams have you chased?
If I could have said this to your face maybe you wouldn't have to write like I do,
Except I use paper instead of my body now; it's something you might want to try too
From haikus to horror stories, it's something in our blood that we share,
Something in our blood that appears on the surface of our skin when we bring it there
My facial expression said I didn't care
Hate and aggression must've made an impression on the little kid who stared,
Sitting on stairs when I would bother to bring my skates
My feeble attempt at being a strong, big brother doing father figure 8's
Ripping my cape on the ground that it dragged on
Tripping on fate and hearing the sounds of a sad song
Listen, it's great sharing time now that dad's gone,
But what's with the choice of words?
Or the body parts that you decided to tag them on?
I'm a vagabond, who moved to modern day Babylon and then back again
With minimal contact and you know I can't ask your mom what's happening
You've got such beautiful gifts What are you doing ruining the packaging?
How ironic come to think I probably put this ink on my back for him
I want you to laugh and sing more,
But you dropped anchor in a place
where dreams go to die and you're keeping your ass indoors
I'm asking for you to stick it out and see things through
You're asking for me to zip my mouth and keep it just between me and you

[Chorus]
If I could have been there from the beginning if I could be there right now
if I could promise to be there when you need me, would it raise an eyebrow?
How would your body be different if I still dropped by for visits?
Is it my place to put a smile on your face?
Could I erase your body language telling you its all been said before?
Or change the words you wrote, exchanging your scars for my metaphors?
I'd add them to my collection while smiling
Next time you want to paint with razor blades and need a canvas use my skin

[Verse Two]
Hiding your sins well, but I see the hell that your limbs speak
Tongue in cheek Lying awake in bed while other kids sleep
The strength of evil begins to keep your grins weak
No matter the length of the needle
marking up one's body is so much more than skin deep
Feel the pin prick The grim reep what they sew and you're trained to say that you're fine
Your threshhold for pain is greater than mine
So I'm waiting in the lines that you give me patiently,
While you get cut in the lines that THEY make YOU wait inin ways that they can't see
If there's a vacancy as far as room in your life goes,
say it to me But don't do it with a knife under your clothes
Because the anguish of hidden skin is letting my ghosts be shown
Plus the language its written in hits especially close to home
I'm most alone when I'm out of touch with the people who feel this type of pain
You might just aim for a day that its raining to strike a vein to take my name in
Changing your uniform and altering your mind set
Has your pointer finger decided if it was a fault of his or mine yet?I bet
I know the dialect It's nowhere I haven't been before
With skin that's sore Battle scars that rise from our inner war
Are decorative medals of honor that our father decided to pass through inheritance
And it is repetitive when the kids head in the direction of evidence
proving the pain and hurt is relative

All this pain and hurt is relative...

(repeat chorus)

This here for the motherfuckin record
Here we here we here we go, here we here we go
Can I can I can I kick a motherfuckin flow
chitty chitty bang bang, I chitty bang bang
Motherfuckin niggaz can't hang
Well oh no, look at the cloud, it's gonna rain
But I don't give a fuck I'm lettin niggaz know they can't hang
Don't give me no lip, don't give me no backtalk, yeah break North
Don't make me get my gun and blow YOUR MOTHERFUCKIN HEAD OFF
Once again, niggaz know my style, GOD DAMMIT
unless it's on the cut so give me the mic and watch me slam it
Hard like Shaquille, OH you better KNEEL
When you see me comin, BIG SCOOB GOT EM RUNNIN
Sex when I flex I catch wreck on the world tour
with dough in my pockets big like the biscuits, in CB4
Set up a contest, I'm comin, I'm takin the dough
They wouldn't pick you even if you had a afro
So dont try me, you better walk by me
I'll do you like the first part in Menace II Society
Like Cypress Hill, yo, I'm INSANE
I'll shoot a hole in your toe
I'll make you jump like the House of Pain
Bang biggy bang biggy bang bang
Niggaz can't hang, niggaz can't hang
Bang biggy bang biggy bang bang, motherfuckin niggaz can't hang..

[Kane] Biggie Smalls, why don't you come do it?

[Notorious B.I.G.]
One two, one two, gonna do it like this
WHERE BROOKLYN AT, WHERE BROOKLYN AT
WHERE BROOKLYN AT, WHERE BROOKLYN AT
We gonna do it like this
Anytime you're ready, check it

I got seven Mack 11's, about eight 38's
Nine 9's, ten mack tens, the shits never ends
You can't touch my riches
Even if you had MC Hammer and them 357 bitches
Biggie Smalls; the millionare, the mansion, the yacht
The two weed spots, the two hot glocks
That's how I got the weed spot
I shot dread in the head, took the bread and the lamb spread
Little Gotti got the shotty to your body
So don't resist, or you might miss Christmas
I tote guns, I make number runs
I give mc's the runs drippin
when I throw my clip in the AK, I slay from far away
Everybody hit the D-E-C-K
My slow flow's remarkable, peace to Matteo
Now we smoke weed like Tony Montana sniffed the yeyo
That's crazy blunts, mad L's
My voice excels from the avenue to jail cells
Oh my God, I'm droppin shit like a pigeon
I hope you're listenin, smackin babies at they christening

[Tupac] Motherfuckin Biggie Smalls!
[Kane] What you gonna do with it Tupac?

[Tupac]
Yeah where the motherfuckin thugs at?
Throw your motherfuckin middle finger
We gonna do this shit like this
I thank the Lord for my many blessings, never stressin
Keep a vest for protection, from the barrel of a Smith & Wesson
And all my niggaz in the pen, here we go again
Ain't nuttin separatin us from a mack-10
Born in the ghetto as a hustler, told ya
A straight soldier, buckin at the bustaz
No matter how you try, niggaz never die
We just retaliate with hate, then we multiply
You see me strikin down the block, hittin corners
Mobbin like a motherfucker, livin like I - wanna
And ain't no stoppin at the red lights, I'm sideways
Thug Life motherfucker crime, pays!
Let the cops put they lights on, chase me nigga
Zig zaggin through the freeway, race me nigga
In a high speed chase with the law
The realest motherfucker that you ever saw

[Kane] Yeah! Come in now man
Now I wanna see what my man Shyheim gonna do with it

[Shyheim]
Yo, this goes out to everybody from Staten Island
{*ah Mister Cee, and you don't stop*}
Yo, times is gettin hard, word is bond, I swear to God
I even got caught tryin to steal from the junkyard
A born terror, a rebel without a pause
I never had a good Christmas, so who is Santa Claus?
I walk the streets at night with my head down
In this lil town you see clowns that wanna be down
So they get a glock and lick shots to get props
And when shit rocks all you can hear when the shells drop
An old man got shot in the parkin lot
In front of my buildin I hang with his grandchildren
And for the nigga that pulled the trigga then tried to slide
and hide, but he got knocked by the homicide
And this happens everyday around my way
So I pray that I can live another day

[Kane] This how we gonna do it, hold up Cee, aiyyo, let's try this
[Shy] Staten Island in the motherfuckin house
Whassup Wu-Tang Clan in here or what?

[Kane]
Hold up Cee..

Now what's the bullshit niggaz been saying
Dont try to act like Martin now with that "I was just playin!"
No need to grieve now on, now that the beef is on
Uhh!! Oh yeah motherfucker, your teeth is gone
Just cause you rap don't meant that you're catchin wreck with me
Step to this I'll give your mic a vasectomy
I only know one nigga that can come next to me
No, that's a tattle, cause I can't count my own shadow
A battle, I gots to have it, 'lest you're gonna rob me
like they did, Whittaker when he fought Chavez
Cause when it comes to goin against Kane rappin
That's like a pimp trying to pull a nun, ain't nuttin happenin
Non resistable, non compatible
I'm not saying I'm the best, I'm just saying I'm fuckin incredible
And let's just get one more thing understood
If I fart on a record, trust me nigga, that shit gon' sound good
ok

E=mc Hawking
MC Hawking

Trash talk
oh, yeah!
damn, this is smooth.
yo, a lot of people been askin' what the hawkman's all about, this one's for you.
Verse 1
"e" stands for energy, yo that's me,
i'm a brilliant scientist and a dope mc.
before you step to me i'd think twice g,
i'm the lord of chaos, king of entropy.
you down with it? i motherfuckin' hope so,
'cause if you're not, i got a motherfuckin' rope yo!
i'll string you up, from a big-ass tree,
with a sign round your neck that says, "wack mc".
there ain't another motherfucker hard like me,
i'm a universal constant, i'm a singularity.
got doomsday at my back with fat-ass tracks,
he pumps funk in the cracks and cuts wax with an axe.
so listen up bitch, 'cause there may be a test,
my style is smooth, but it's hard to digest.
my science is tight, rhymes faster than light,
like a ton of tnt i'm about to ignite.
Chorus
e=mc,
e=mc hawking!
Verse 2
i explode like a bomb, no one is spared,
my power is my mass times the speed of light squared.
hoes on my tip, 15 bullets in my clip,
my hand rests heavy on my pistol grip.
doomsday cuts it up like a shaolin monk,
pumping the funk in your junk-trunk punk.
there's no escaping here, i'm gonna beat you out of shape,
like a fucking black hole even light can't escape.
got the mind to bust a rhyme to make your brain bleed,
other rappers talk shit, but they gotta concede,
that i'm a 3 sandwich eatin', super-model meetin',
step to me punk and you're gonna get a beatin'.
so listen up bitch, 'cause there may be a test,
my style is smooth, but it's hard to digest.
my science is tight, rhymes faster than light,
like a ton of tnt i'm about to ignite.
Chorus
Trash talk
break down!
ah yeah, that's right, e=mc hawking motherfuckers!
god damn, that was some stanky-ass funk.
somebody open a motherfuckin' window.
yo doomsday, take us out.

I was your fear and you were my fate
I wanted you near but I bred your hate
You left me for dead, deep down in the mud
With scars of my head, in my heart and my blood

On my head, in my heart and my blood
On my head, in my heart and my blood

A caress of stars
A silhouette in the twilight sky
The daybreak sets on silver seas
My name echoes through crimson hills

On the horizon, where seas meet clouds
A scenery shimmers beyond reality
I glance a world as a recent lit star
I am swallowed by universe

A vacant eye caught the last moonlight
A wish to die to be shining bright
As a star to light your way
To where we are not led astray

Where we are not led astray
Where we are not led astray

A caress of stars
A silhouette in the twilight sky
The daybreak sets on silver seas
My name echoes through crimson hills

On the horizon, where seas meet clouds
A scenery shimmers beyond reality
I glance a world as a recent lit star
I am swallowed by universe

Deep in death
Wrapped in the morning deauty
Comes close my love
My dearest sister and friend

Alone I sit, I wonder why
You dream of love and so do I
But in your sleep you cannot see
This pain which is always haunting me
What I need I'll never feel
This world is for me unreal
So I drink to darkness with a candle lit
And through the whole night alone I sit

The sleeping beauty
She stops the bleeding
She stops the bleeding in my soul
She is fresh air in this stinking world

The more I drink, the more I see
That suicide could be the key
To the place called paradise
Where pain not dwells, not hate nor lies
But if I look beyond all this
I reckon something I would surely miss
Because in my dreams I rule my life
And the sleeping beauty is my wife

The sleeping beauty
She stops the bleeding
She stops the bleeding in my soul
She is fresh air in this stinking world

I'm not sayin' the whole hip-hop / rap scene is crap but from a neutral point of view these lyriics really suck :/

they are awful lyrics in all musical genres

which definitely is not entirely true though. many rap artists are very skilled wordsmiths. =]
50 cent is NOT one of them.
and in all genres of music where vocals are implemented you will find pretty fucking shitty lyrics if you look for it.

that iced earth song was one of the more pathetic things i ever wasting my time reading because of the sheer fact it has probably caused more kids to commit suicide than all of rap music has caused people to shoot each other.

some people like music that will get them a little pumped up from time to time, some of those people choose rap like myself.

People do not expect great lyrics from 50 cent. He has a smooth deliver and good production, which is enough for most rap fans to enjoy.

My Thoughts: Look Out Plato!

My thought: Plato is not a poet.
Yep 50cent sucks.
However, lyrics don't matter to everyone.
I bet they don't matter to you, given the fact that Iced Earth's lyrics are so "metally"cliche when talking about demons, hell etc and truly horrible when talking about more common stuff (friendship etc). I think their best album is burnt offerings, not due to the lyrics though (I stopped listening when the dark saga album came out ).About their song writing throughout their albums:This whole caffeine overdose rythm guitar thing is getting tiring and the songs are not getting more mature, in fact they are continuously getting worse.

My hard-earned opinion on "metal" music at the present is : It's like an ocean of shit with a few diamonds hidden in it. I wonder if its worth the dive.

Well , these are not your own parody lyrics of smells like teen spirit. I've seen that funny video too.
I believe the original song has good lyrics, even if they at some point get incredibly personal (beyond any understanding) It's not always about the lyrics though.
Smokie my friend, you are entering a world of pain.

Kind of long but good! Sorry

[Talib Kweli] (Spoken)
Yea, so we got this tune called ";For Women"; right
Originally, it was by Nina Simone
She said it was inspired by, you know
Down south. In the south, they used to call her Mother Antie
She said No Mrs.
Just Antie
She said if anybody ever called her Antie
she'd burn the whole goddamn place down
I'm over past that
Coming into the new millenium, we can't forget our elders

[Talib Kweli]
I got off the 2 train in Brooklyn on my way to a session
Said let me help this woman up the stairs before I get to steppin'
We got in a conversation she said she a 107
Just her presence was a blessing and her essence was a lesson
She had her head wrapped
And long dreads that peeked out the back
Like antenna to help her get a sense of where she was at, imagine that
Livin' a century, the strenght of her memories
Felt like an angel had been sent to me
She lived from nigger to colored to negro to black
To afro then african-american and right back to nigger
You figure she'd be bitter in the twilight
But she alright, cuz she done sseen the circle of life yo
Her skin was black like it was packed with melanin
Back in the days of slaves she packin' like Harriet Tubman
Her arms are long and she moves like song
Feet with corns, hand with callouses
But her heart is warm and her hair is wooly
And it attract a lot of energy even negative
She gotta dead that the head wrap is her remedy
Her back is strong and she far from a vagabond
This is the back of the masters' whip used to crack upon
Strong enough to take all the pain, that's been
Inflicted again and again and again and again and flipped
It to the love for her children nothing else matters
What do they call her? They call her aunt Sara.

Woman singing in the background

[Talib Kweli] (+ Background Vocals)
I know a girl with a name as beautiful as the rain
Her face is the same but she suffers an unusual pain
Seems she only deals with losers who be usin' them games
Chasin' the real brothers away like she confused in the brain
She tried to get it where she fit in
on that American Dream mission paid tuition
For the receipt to find out her history was missing and started flippin
Seeing the world through very different eyes
People askin' her what she'll do when it comes time to chose sides
Yo, her skin is yellow, it's like her face is blond word is bond
And her hair is long and straight just like sleeping beauty
See, she truly feels like she belong in 2 worlds
And that she can't relate to other girls
Her father was rich and white still livin' with his wife
But he forced himself on her mother late one night
They call it rape that's right and now she take flight
Through life with hate and spite inside her mind
That keep her up to the break of light a lot of times
(I gotta find myself) (3X)
She had to remind herself
They called her Safronia the unwanted seed
Blood still blue in her vein and still red when she bleeds
(Don't, don't, don't hurt me again) (8X)

[Talib Kweli] (+ Background Vocals)
Teenage lovers sit on the stoops up in Harlem
Holdin' hands under the Apollo marquis dreamin of stardom
Since they was born the streets is watchin' and schemin'
And now it got them generations facin' deseases
That don't kill you they just got problems
and complications that get you first
Yo, it's getting worse, when children hide the fact that they pregnant
Cuz they scared of giving birth
How will I feed this baby?
How will I survive, how will this baby shine?
Daddy dead from crack in '85, mommy dead from AIDS in '89
At 14 the baby hit the same streets they became her master
The children of the enslaved, they grow a little faster
They bodies become adult
While they keepin' the thoughts of a child her arrival
Into womanhood was heemed up by her survival
Now she 25, barely grown out her own
Doin' whatever it takes strippin', workin' out on the block
Up on the phone, talkin' about
(my skin is tan like the front of your hand)
(And my hair...)
(Well my hair's alright whatever way I want to fix it,
it's alright it's fine)
(But my hips, these sweet hips of mine invite you daddy)
(And when I fix my lips my mouth is like wine)
(Take a sip don't be shy, tonight I wanna be your lady)
(I ain't too good for your Mercedes, but first you got to pay me)
(You better quit with all the question, sugar who's little girl am I)
(Why I'm yours if you got enough money to buy)
(You better stop with the compliments we running out of time,)
(You wanna talk whatever we could do that it's your dime)
(From Harlem's from where I came, don't worry about my name,)
(Up on one-two-five they call me sweet thang)

Scratches + Woman singing in the background

[Talib Kweli] (+ Background Vocals)
A daughter come up in Georgia, ripe and ready to plant seeds,
Left the plantation when she saw a sign even thought she can't read
It came from God and when life get hard she always speak to him,
She'd rather kill her babies than let the master get to 'em,
She on the run up north to get across that Mason-Dixon
In church she learned how to be patient and keep wishin',
The promise of eternal life after death for those that God bless
She swears the next baby she'll have will breathe a free breath
and get milk from a free breast,
And love beeing alive,
otherwise they'll have to give up being themselves to survive,
Being maids, cleaning ladies, maybe teachers or college graduates, nurses, housewives, prostitutes, and drug addicts
Some will grow to be old women, some will die before they born,
They'll be mothers, and lovers who inspire and make songs,
(But me, my skin is brown and my manner is tough,)
(Like the love I give my babies when the rainbow's enuff,)
(I'll kill the first muthafucka that mess with me, I never bluff)
(I ain't got time to lie, my life has been much too rough,)
(Still running with barefeet, I ain't got nothin' but my soul,)
(Freedom is the ultimate goal,
life and death is small on the whole, in many ways)
(I'm awfully bitter these days
'cuz the only parents God gave me, they were slaves,)
(And it crippled me, I got the destiny of a casualty,)
(But I live through my babies and I change my reality)
(Maybe one day I'll ride back to Georgia on a train,)
(Folks 'round there call me Peaches, I guess that's my name.)

lawl. the sheer fact is that anyone who commits suicide because they heard a song is a god damn retard, just the same as if someone did something extreme because of any song. dumbasses. what makes you think songs have this sort of effect on people? there's nothing mysterious at work here, the kids are just morons.

lol, for getting "pumped up", i don't see how you have come to the conclusion to listen to rap music. explain?

Seriously alot of them can talk they're way out of anything. I've been to a few rap battles and when they freestyle its crazy, its all confidence and pretty much wordart. I'm not really a fan of rap but I respect what these guys do, its not easy.

Because, 50 is now the image of success. He constantly sings about how good his life is now. Blacks, and Whites envy him and want to be him. Maybe, just maybe it will encourage alot of them to try harder in whatever they do, school, music writing and etc in hopes it leads them to that success(very unlikely, but hey).

And, Mike Jones is sooo bad, every song of his he mentions his name atleast 15 times. Everyone I know can't stand listening to more than one of his songs a day tops!

Hiphop is the mainstream nowadays... just face it ok?
How ever you diss rappers/rap music it will sell 5 times more records than any rock album you can think of..
Flaming the whole genre based on one particular rapper's linguistic ability is retarded. At least they're true to themselves.. they live the lyrics,--> gansta lifestyle unlike metal heads.
Why would you even expect English proficiency from guys who spent most of their lives in the ghetto without proper education?
Hiphop is more of the beats, flow, rhythm and the rhyming skills not so much of linguistic perfection. who with the right mind listens to hiphop expecting a well written poetry?

They showed up on my doorstep just a couple weeks ago
They looked so sweet and harmless
Tell me, how was I to know
They got a little too close to the microwave and then much to my surprise
They grew to forty thousand times their original size
They started mutatin' right before my eyes
Oh my

Attack of the radioactive hamsters from a planet near Mars
A race from a distant place
They came in UFOs shaped just like cuban cigars
Man oh man, you oughta hear 'em squeal
Now the whole wide world is their exercise wheel
Attack of the radioactive hamsters from a planet near Mars

The president, he's is a panic
The pentagon, they're in shock
There's a team of research scientists They got 'em workin' 'round the clock
Now the National Guard is out in my back yard
And the Marines'll be comin' around
I hope they get this lousy rodents out of my town
'Cause the property values are goin' way down now

Attack of the radioactive hamsters from a planet near Mars
They're back and they're lookin' for a snack
And they're not that fond of Burger Kings or salad bars
I hope they're not plannin' to stay
Who invited them here anayway
Attack of the radioactive hamsters from a planet near Mars

Well, well, look at that hamster, he's as big as a blimp
And there's one the size of central park
They're using telephone pole to pick their teeth
They're evil and nasty and they glow in the dark
Oh, don't waste any more of your bullets, boys
You know it just makes 'em mad when you shoot
They're gonna stomp us into jelly and conquer the world
But you gotta admit, they're really kinda cute, now

Attack of the radioactive hamsters from a planet near Mars
What a racquet they're makin', Jack
They keep me up at night playin' their electric guitars
Listen to 'em squeal
They think the whole stinkin' world is their exercise wheel
Attack of the radioactive hamsters from a planet near Mars

Hey Jack, you better watch your back
Here come those hamsters from a planet near mars
Well, well, it's called the
Attack of the radioactive hamsters From a planet near Mars
A planet near Mars

Same goes for rap.

i agree with you. Alot of people that like rock dont like the songs on the radio cause they dont like the mainstream rock bands out there. But on the other hand always critic rap by what they hear constantly played on the radio and dont realize just like there is an underground rock culture, there is the same for rap. But most of the people on the forum wanna put down other genre's because they just dont wanna have an open mind to genre's total oppisite of what they like. There are so many people that like to put down tastes of other people because its contrary to their own and its really sad ;\. If you dont like something dont listen to it, please dont make dumb topics which are basicly "ROFL look at this song, isn't it stupid?" Everyone talks about respecting and other peoples taste but few actually do.

The only reason why people listen to 50 cent is because his songs have great beats to listen. Why you think almost all the clubs play his songs? The way he raps has good rhythm, it actually flows great witht he beats unlike Silk the shocker and the other rappers who just sound like their talking in their songs.

It's well known that 50 cent got shot many times and his voice changed slightly after that incident.. His voice was more deep before that incident.

2pac also got shot several times but he survived that but he eventually died after he got shot again months later..

hiphop is getting bigger and bigger, true.

however, rock is NOT dying. compare rock now with rock 5 years ago and yeah.. well it's been a pretty long time since it has been bigger, at least that's my impression.

yep
music doesn't cause someone to commit suicide jesus christ
it's just that rock music is generally less upbeat than hiphop. (not more depressive. I can't think of anything more depressive than people idolizing (the vast majority of, there are certainly some who deserve respect. =]) hiphop stars and the bling bling culture. )
and it IS more common for the "popular crowd" to listen to hiphop than rock. (myself by far preferring rock. )

and thus people who start listening to rock are more likely to commit suicide before they start listening to rock than people who listen to hiphop before they start listening to hiphop
claiming the music has anything to do with it is fucking bullshit.

I don't think hiphop music causes shootings either though.

singles really shouldnt be a factor into whether rock is "dying" =)

the music industry as a whole has been on a steady decline for some time now ;O

first of all billboard is only american. the american music scene is very, very different from the european. singles list generally have a larger number of hiphop songs here in norway as well though, but that's because people who listen to rock usually want the full album..

anyway
http://www.nrk.no/programmer/radioarkiv/vg_lista_topp_40/4392216.html

that's the list over the most selling albums in norway in 2004

some of those artists are norwegian thus you won't have heard of them. BUT, there are more than 3 times as many albums I would characterize as rock than albums I would characterize as hiphop/rap. there's some r&b too, but there is far more pop-rock.

in fact eminem (with encore) is the highest placing rap artist. with number 14.
guns and roses, a rockband that has been extinct for more than 10 years, with greatest hits placed 8.

so while the AMERICAN rock scene might be dying, that's most DEFINITELY not the case here.

Well despite the fact that US music scene is the most predominant in the world, rock is almost non - existent in Asia apart from Japan (unless underground of course) so that should balance out the europe...

i dont even like rock music but your arguments are retarded, its not dying, it wont die, and it cannot possibly die. Who cares about what asia listens to, seriously ive never heard of one retarded asian artist in america ever. So =) and even if i havent heard of the rock bands in europe im sure they are bigger here than the asian music is over here +O

you did however claim it was a global trend. while it is not a trend in europe at all. so there's nothing I have to suck up, because I live in europe, don't intend on living anywhere else, and I greatly prefer rock to hiphop. (although there is quite a lot of hiphop I enjoy as well.. )

Asia + America + Oceania = pretty global isn't it?

I remember in my early days in Australia rock music was predominant here everone was going nuts for silverchair and stuff but now it's a whole different story so it's safe to say that rock music is in decline in Oceania as well(NZ as well).

.....

can't you PLEASE just concede ONE MINOR POINT and admit that you phrased yourself in a bad way? PLEASE? you're really annoying me right now..

I mean I'm not even arguing that hiphop is growing far faster than rock is. im only saying that rock is not dying and there's no reason why I would have to "suck up" anything, because where I live rock is thriving.

Er...... I wasn't even considering norway 0.00000000001% when I wrote that statement since this thread started because of 50 cent so sure, you have nothing to suck up, I mean I couldn't care less. So yeah, while statistically it is true that on the whole rock is in decline globally except maybe europe, you have nothing to suck up.

the music industry as a whole is in decline, look at record sales from 5-6 years ago compared to today ;O everyone back then went platinum, its not the case right now

I was talking about the proportion of each genre % not the number of sales itself thanks, why do you think I got the charts instead of number of records rappers sold?

well rock music may just be on a slightly larger decline than the regular music industry, but anyway not everything is measured by record sales =)

......... ok
What do number of sales represent? what do you think?
Do you buy albums because you have nothing else better to spend your money on or because you like that particular band/music?

Going back to the lyrics thing, 50's aren't deep for sure but at least you can take it on the second degree and it becomes quite funny.

Metal lyrics on the other hand are so utterly bad there can't even be a second degree of appreciation there. It's so bad it's not even funny.

Oh and another point. At least when 50's rapping about guns and hustling and shit, he knows from experience. He isn't "frontin" as he would say.

Whereas all the metal nerds singing about apocalypse and satan and armageddon and whatever only have ever known their parents' basement and dungeons and dragons.

the best lyrics I've ever read were from metal/rock bands (they weren't about satan and the apocalypse though ) And I couldn't care less if he's "being true to himself" if he writes like shit. I could write lyrics "being true to myself" and talking about my everyday life before I was a famous music star, they would still suck.

Metal lyrics are bad? I used to listen to rap before.. i loved rap for a few years but then I saw that many lyrics in hardcore and metal are WAY better than rap lyrics. Some rappers are "true to themselves" but G-unit aren't part of them. It's trash. At least metal is low profile unlike this gangster (wtf? they aren't gangsters they are acting) stuff.

I like RUSH, that includes the musical part and the lyrical, heres a sample:

Rush - Freewill

There are those who think that life has nothing left to chance
A host of holy horrors to direct our aimless dance

A planet of play things
We dance on the strings
Of powers we cannot perceive
'The stars aren't aligned
Or the gods are malign...'
Blame is better to give than receive

[Chorus
You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice
You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill
I will choose a path that's clear
I will choose freewill

There are those who think
That they were dealt a losing hand
The cards were stacked against them
They weren't born in Lotusland

All preordained
A prisoner in chains
A victim of venomous fate
Kicked in the face
You can't pray for a place
In heaven's unearthly estate

[Chorus]

Each of us
A cell of awareness
Imperfect and incomplete
Genetic blends
With uncertain ends
On a fortune hunt that's far too fleet
I'll tank push my way into her heart. ☮♥&$!

bad rap? i don't know i used to listen to the best rap out there. Cypress,2pac outlawz, binary star, flipmode,IAM wu-tang etc...rap was good.. i think it isn't anymore .. i think good rap is dead mostly. but anyways it lacks motivation.. guitar and drums > computer beats
since everyone is posting lyrics... i'll post some that represent myself well;)

I am the walking dead heartbreaker... my apologies...
I'm happy you'll never understand...
what it's like to be... trapped under six feet of...
solid glass... I can see out, but no one gets in...

Screaming at the prison...
I've locked myself into..
I'm sorry that I'm still breathing...
and that I'll Kill again...

but the loneliness is too much... for me to handle.
the taste of fresh blood... pushes me on.

I.. told myself.. the constant pain..
could ease..the tension... the burning inside..
But the nights... were cold... and the days... dragged to weeks...
I will die... here alone... I will die..

The fear of romance.
The pain of living.
The joy of sorrow.
The strength of not forgiving.

God help me... I'm so tired...
but in my dreams... the wolves eat out my soul...
God help me... I'm so frightened...
but in my dreams... the wolves tear out my heart...

I used to be golden... a saint in a time of sorrow...
but then the turning came... and I kissed the sun goodbye...
don't you get it... it's always darker in my eyes,
the screams of my brothers.. egging me on

hip hop's golden days have dwindled away with the likes of eazy-e, rakim/eric b, tupac, biggie, big l, n.w.a., a tribe called quest, and even the younger dre and snoop, among others.

these days, i can't bare listening to any hip hop, beyond a handful of artists, who would be considered 'underground'. Simply put, the more popular artists/groups are utter shite.

I like rap, just not shitty bullshit MTV rap with no substance. These rappers have JACK SHIT to say today. Listen to a rapper like 2pac and todays rappers and you get the impression that any idiot can make a rap cd these days.

most MUSIC is not poetic, rap definately, but pretty much anything mainstream is tired and recycled garbage.

Here are some lyrics from a song I'm sure a lot of you have heard, not much repetition and also they have MEANING. Something rare these days.

Something has to change.
Un-deniable dilemma.
Boredom's not a burden
Anyone should bear.

Constant over stimu-lation numbs me
and I wouldn't have
It any other way.

It's not enough.
I need more.
Nothing seems to satisfy.
I don't want it.
I just need it.
To feel, to breathe, to know I'm alive.

Finger deep within the borderline.
Show me that you love me and that we belong together.
Relax, turn around and take my hand.

I can help you change
Tired moments into pleasure.
Say the word and we'll be
Well upon our way.

Blend and balance
Pain and comfort
Deep within you
Till you will not have me any other way.

It's not enough.
I need more.
Nothing seems to satisfy.
I don't want it.
I just need it.
To feel, to breathe, to know I'm alive.

Knuckle deep inside the borderline.
This may hurt a little but it's something you'll get used to.
Relax. Slip away.

Something kinda sad about
the way that things have come to be.
Desensitized to everything.
What became of subtlety?

How can it mean anything to me
If I really don't feel anything at all?

I'll keep digging till
I feel something.

Elbow deep inside the borderline.
Show me that you love me and that we belong together.
Shoulder deep within the borderline.
Relax. Turn around and take my hand.

Obviously about the desensitization of people and the media. Towards .....well....everything.

90% of the rap on public radio or that you can buy at a regular record store like Tower Records is commercialized and targeted to suburban hip hop people. Most dont even really pay attention to the lyrics, they listen to the beat.

50 cent is also an amazing rapper, its just his latest album is trash and marketed towards the teeny bop population. Rappers put their best effort in their initial album and what they put on underground mixtapes. What counts to them and the rap community is the stuff they put on their underground tapes, not what they put in big name stores. Thats whats for the general public. Most of the general public that has heard 50's albums have never heard his underground songs, which there are probably 150 of, give or take.

The best rap is on the underground mixtapes, or on the rap satellite radio stations.

And to sit here and say rap is garbage is simply ignorant. People are a product of their enviroment, and people that listen to rap appreciate it for the skill it takes and the language used because of the enviroment they were raised in (Not the teeny bop shit on MTV and the radio). How many people in the ghetto you think listen to metallica? Are they correct if they say its garbage because they were never exposed to it, or dont particularly care for it? Do you really think that because you dont understand whats behind the music, and the whole genre, that its crap?

Some people like country, rock, R&B, blues, techno, etc. I personally dont listen to any of these, nor do I enjoy hearing any of it, but who am I to say they are crap?

The distaste in the lyrics is directly related to the played-out themes, which is the main problem. The gangster-'fuck da police' scene was appealing and unique back in the days of N.W.A., because it was never heard of prior to then, but now, it's just getting old, repetitive, and annoying.

Rock has never been the biggest selling genre, except for maybe in the early 70's. How many 60's, 70's pop bands can you remember? And how many rock bands?

Also rock has been through many 'dark ages' before', early 60's, the late 80's, etc... and no metal will never be mainstream, but there are many good rock bands out there today. Radiohead and Tool are recording right now, Pearl Jam is releasing a new album soon, Muse is pretty good, etc etc.

Yea that is my problem : I listen music to listen MUSIC. I listen mostly music from other country and I don't get anything they say. But if it sounds good ( my earing(?) is developped ), then I am sold.

This is why I don't like any kind of rap : Abuse of a riff, and singer, well that is not a singer it is a rapper, talking on the same tone.

There were actually a few rock/hiphop type tunes that I thought was worth listening to, for example:

jay z-99 problems RMX
busta rhymes ft. ozzy-this means war
the neptunes-lapdance NIN RMX

Rock isn't dying, it is as great as it ever was. Rock was never mainstream and that's what has always kept it honest and good.

Hiphop is nothing but a new version of disco. Shitty mainstream crap that will disapear when it's time has been spent. Ask yourself, where is disco now? Exactly. And the same type of shallow and image/culture driven mainstream that gave disco it's success is now supporting rap.

As the great Mike Myer's once said, "You think Zeppelin cared about making music that everyone liked? They left that to the BeeGees!"

some people like music that will get them a little pumped up from time to time, some of those people choose rap like myself.

lawl. the sheer fact is that anyone who commits suicide because they heard a song is a god damn retard, just the same as if someone did something extreme because of any song. dumbasses. what makes you think songs have this sort of effect on people? there's nothing mysterious at work here, the kids are just morons.

lol, for getting "pumped up", i don't see how you have come to the conclusion to listen to rap music. explain?

yea.. ok mr. i train as a powerlifter hence gettng pumped up. i said some of those people choose rap like myself i didnt say it was the only thing you could get pumped up to. nerd.

The Game ~ Westside Hype Radio ~ 300 Bars (And Runnin) (Credits to AZLyrics.com ^^)

[INTRO]
My mama took me to Sam Goody's
I wanted to buy a 50 Cent CD
I took that shit home
That shit was wack like a muthafucka
Don't fuck with Game

I like 50 Cent
He reminds me Spongebob
And Tony Yayo is Blues Clues
And Lloyd Banks is Dora the Explorer
They're my friends
Psyche

I went down one of them Bodaga shits right there in Harlem
Got me a bootleg Lloyd Banks and Young Buck CD
Took that shit home, put it in my boom box
Thought I was bout to be on some radio Raheim shit
Man that shit sound like some Vanessa Williams '88
I mean Olivia cute but they say that bitch a man
So this Black Wallstreet for life now
GGG-UNOT!

[GAME]
300 Bars and Runnin
Just loan me your ears for 15 minutes
Walk with me

Here the breakdown, pass the doja, .45 in the holster
Hollow tips'll fold 'em, them *****z they toy soldiers
Oh, that boy colder than Hova unless he sober
Like I'm the president, but this ain't the takeover
Now, there's the speaker, bring your ears a little closer
Before you call this a diss, and you make Hova pissed
Why would I wanna do that? When I'm just the new cat
That was taught if a ***** take shots to shoot back
Defending his yard, yeah standing his ground
I'm saying if you gonna retire, then hand me the crown
Nah, let Bleek do it, then throw him a concert in Madison square
Watch everybody sleep through it
We can go bar for bar, I'll let the lines speak to 'em
What they say? Bleek is over let Chris and Neef do it
They say the wrong thing, I'ma smack 'em silly
What you thought? Them was the only *****z that rapped in Philly?
See them *****z with the soonies leave you wrapped in Philly
Then dash in groups like Beanie Mac in Philly
?? said Curtis Jack in Philly
Make a U-turn, I gotta go back to Philly
I forgot my cheese stake, that's what I told the cops
So they wouldn't get the dogs start searching for the glock
And I can't forget, B.I.G. got murdered by the cops
Even I was Ready To Die, when I heard that he was shot
What's beef? Beef is when I murk you on the spot
Labels signing many things, still searching for they Pac
I put purple on the block
So I don't feel threatened when Ludacris say he coming for the #1 spot
Ask 50, it get lonely on top
You can hate me or love me, but now the cops the only homies he got
When it's beef we eat, we win, but we ain't lonely we pop
You sell records but a GGG-u not!
Acting big on the radio, to me you not
You can ask Mr. CCC who hot
Tony Yayo I bet 10 G's you flop
Run up on that new 300 C you got
Stop hoping I fall, hope the bleeding stop
And I hope you black out before you see the cops
I ain't hot top for colors, I'm from Cedar Block
So I got my hot tops that make your breathing stop
I'm a gangsta slash rapper, check your CD shop
I'm like Elvis in there, they can't believe you dropped
Now I'm moving on up to George and Weezy's spot
I picked up where my homeboy Eazy stopped
I saw the west coast, put the shit on my back
Sprayed Aftermath on it, then loosened the strap
It get hot in here, let Lucifer rap
Bring hell to *****z when Dre producing a track
Take it to the streets, put the duece duece to your hat
Then call up the pigs, tell them the rooster's back
Call Jadakiss, tell him that duke is back
I'm still by your side, no matter who comes strapped
Fuck Lloyd Banks, it ain't about who can rap
It's about when the ?? clap, is rufus back
I see what you thinkin, you want me to die, is that so?
Now you left leaning back, thanks to Fat Joe
We got reservations in heaven, you ready? Let's go
Drop them off, then the sound like Esko
I'm a say 'he hit me first' if me and Dre talk
All Nas said back was he had a ??
Now that's the eulogy, beef is kinda foolish see
*****z running their mouth about what the fuck they gon' do to me
But quit the yapping before I proceed to clapping
And you gon' see the captain with plans of getting me captured
Even behind bars, I'm still gon' shine
I'm 10 years younger than Yayo, I get out, I'm fine
Then I go right back, ***** I pop mines
How you gon' drop Olivia, you only drop dimes
I knew you changed, when you started sleeping in that vest dog
I don't need 50 Cent, my *****z make collect calls
1-800-split a faggot ***** wig
He got G-Unit wings, throw them off the Queens Bridge
Now your career is over, career is over
We in QB, banging CNN in the rover
T-O-N-Y, that's Capone and NORE
You ain't the talk of New York, your sixteens is boring
Take that shit off ??, go back to PC
And tell 50 Cent you want a copy of Beef 3
I'm airing their ass out on DVD
You wanna rhyme like Lloyd Banks repeat after me
I'm a G-Unit toy soldier
On Sesame street doing voice overs
Bitch ass ***** need a rhyme dictionary, to rehearse his lines
Sound like Oscar the Grouch, with them nursery rhymes
We was in the studio, when I first got signed
He got stuck, he called 50 tryna borrow some lines
That's the wrong *****, when you need help with your rhymes
All he gon' tell you is say G-Unit one more time
Got mad cuz I ain't wanna make your beef mine
You got lucky with Ja, why you aint go at Shyne?
He freestyled from the pen, that's just the fact
Said he'd put you with your mom, and you ain't fucked with that
Then you lied about your pops, he ain't never bust no cap
Like Father, Like Son, go ask Busta that
I knew from the beginning I couldn't trust those cats
I'd kill 'em all, if I could bring Justo back
The underground is mine, I treat it like home
It's the reason *****z saying my name like Mike Jones
The underground is mine, I treat it like home
It's the reason *****z saying my name like Mike Jones
The underground is mine, I treat it like home
It's the reason *****z saying my name like Mike Jones
I said
The underground is mine, I treat it like home
It's the reason *****z saying my name like Mike Jones
And I'm far from Houston but you can chop it and screw it
Do whatever to it, but it in the store the shit moving
Gave 'em a hundred bars, they ain't think I could do it
Came with two hundred, ***** this is more than music
Even Dre knew it, that boy hot like summer
Both feet in the dirt, 300 Bars and Runnin
And I beef with any *****, say my name muthafuck I'm gunnin'
You can put it on skee if you want it
I'll air you out on Drama King, Mike, or Clue
And watch them shits sell out like a Air Jordon shoe
I told Funk Flex when I catch the ***** Whoo Kid
We gon' see if he know how to DJ with bruised ribs
Don't hit me on the sidekick asking what you did
Get a gun or ask 50's police to use his
Cuz Bloods gonna get ya
Bloods, Bloods gonna get ya for that Shadyville chain
That 380 spill brains, when I pop shots
Outside NY, in front of hip-hop cops
Or broad day in L.A., I'ma tell Em and Dre
This ***** bootlegging my music, ain't nothing for him to say
Took me off my own songs, then put it on his tapes
So I'ma take him out his house, put the beam on his face
Drop him off at Terror Squad, let him scream for the jakes
Cuz when you fucking with Jayceon, you can bleed in the lake
For caking off *****z on them CD's and tapes
Ask them to scratch a record, you will see he fake
If 50 was Puffy, you'd run and go get him a cheese cake
Take the DJ off your name, Mr. Instant replay
Not the instant replay
I mean the machine that G-Unit use every time 50 on stage singing like
Bitches only for your shit just a lil bit
*****z only for your shit just a lil bit
On my album 50 helped me just a lil bit
Only on two songs, now back to some killer shit
My clips bananas, I kill a gorilla quick
Beating on your chest, I see to your death, yep
Tell Ecko to make him a suit
Tell Reebock to make him some boots
Get him a head band, to cover the holes in his head
He a dead man for thinking he can walk through muddy waters like Redman
Banks blacked out and let the gun blam without a M-E-T-H-O-D Man
So the lieutenant gotta ask for his strings
Take my advice, never wear air max for the ??
Unless you one of the Bloods, or a latin king
Cuz if your left with the Aryans your ass will sting
And your cell mate is a 25 to lifer
They will stab you then ?? then fuck you on Rikers
And Life Goes On
Now back to the coward of the hour who lied and said he write my songs
He told Vibe Dre was gonna leave me on the shelf
So he gave me all his hits, you should've kept them for yourself
***** stop acting tough before I stand over you
Show you how The Documentary live on top of The Massacre
Make a move I'm blasting your ass to the last one
Ten shots from the Mack empty the rest in the passenger
Fase yelling thats enough, let the coroner bag him up
Throw in Makaveli and lift the doors on the Maganum
Gun smoking, Fase think I'm locin' backing up
Reverse the '05 hurse on 41st and traffic, what
Hip-Hop cops on my left, but I pass 'em up
The Dodge got a hemmy in it, Game got a Remy in 'em
In and out of lanes like a New York cab
I'm Mr. Ol' King, that New York cab
Who's this fake *****, on pictures with the Jake *****?
Got his crew starving cuz he aint the whole cake, *****
He ain't Nas, ain't B.I.G., ain't Jigga
If he ain't Cube or Pac then who you got?
We getting tired of you talkin about who you shot
I'll use another six bars to tell you who you not
You ain't 50 Cent, he went out like a gangsta
You went out with Vivica, three months after wanksta
Get Rich or Die Tryin, we thought you was hot
Now the same ***** wanna take us to the Candy Shop
C'mon man, what happened to the thug?
Now you could find in the club, him and Lloyd Banks hugging
***** got mad when The Game start buzzing
So fuck making friends now I'm into throwing slugs
Olivia talking about we a family, Game had to go
***** I'll smack that ho like I'm Jackie-O
Cuz I don't wanna be cool, I don't wanna be you
I don't wanna shake hands, or wear your G-Unit shoes
Don't want you on my hooks, don't wanna be in your group
Just wanna sit here and wait
To be gone, so I can head back to the block
Fresh white Nike airs and the matching socks fitted

Pull the brim low, if they don't get it
Bentley Coup on gold daytons, I was the first one with it
Four times platinum, I done been there and did it
Came in the game and shitted, then wiped my ass with it
They say the Lord givth, if Lord take it away
So I build a house on top of Hip-Hop, I'll wait for the day
*****z hating on me, they don't want Jayceon to play
And the DA waiting on Jayceon to make a mistake
So they can put me in the SWAT car and lock me away
Give me a odd job in the pen for minimum pay
Let me out so I can drive down criminal way
Pushing the rock, nah this ain't no subliminal Jay
The summer too hot, and I want the winter to stay
Cuz I'm a cold ***** when I put the pen to the page
Similar to them shells going into my gauge
I hand 'em off to Dre, he turned them into granades
And Just Blaze, cuz the boy got game
Like I close my eyes, and woke up in a Roc chain
Now back to reality, my gun and my vest
And if diamonds are forever, then I'm Kanye West
Take a look at my chest, a hundred thou wet jacob
Whole crew got chains, a hundred thou can't break 'em
And the flow is hot like that wit Satan
And the only thing I got spinning is Daytons
The hotter I get the more willing to snake 'em
So soon as the beat drop, watch where I take 'em
Compton Swap meet, to get me some All-Stars
When Game in the house, they call ??
Cuz they heard about what went on in D.C.
Heard about Hot 97, my beef with 50

Now tell me do he got a conscience?
I think not, cuz if he did I wouldn't be involved in this nonsense
Wouldn't be in Harlem, wouldn't be at this conference
I'd rather be pushing rock, like ??
50 whispered in my ear, like we still bonding
We ain't friends, I'm just acting like Charles Bronson
Middle finger in the air, one hand on my Johnson
Hip-Hop police on me like I'm the convict
What happened to the old school? I thought it was rhyming
Doug E. Fresh and Dana Day on the corner like Common
Now that ain't common, it's more like Top Ramen
The flow is news, I throw it up like vomit
And I still shine like diamonds
They kicked me out of G-Unit and I rebounded like Rodman
It's still Aftermath, two feet in the pentition
I be mad, I ain't, I'm supposed to stop I can't because
I'm in the hood politican, Impala liftin'
And I keep a black .45 on the side of my prada denim
Chip on my shoulder like I'm fresh outta prison
Dollar vision, blow a hundred thou like my wallet missing
Then re-up like kid before the d-cup
Continuously getting money with my feet up
Chasing the throne, here my black Air Force
I said fuck Benzino and got the cover of The Source
Feel me? If not then I guess you gotta kill me
But you ain't gon' do that so muthafucka move back
While I do B.I.G. and 'Pac impersonations on two tracks
When I wake the dead, everybody remove hats
We miss ya'll, can I get a hand clap?
Now back to rap, why I gotta stay strapped?
On that murder T-I-P, kill you ASAP
They won't know which hole to patch up, when the 'K' clap
I tried to spare you Young Buck, now it's time for payback
It go, how you from Cashville but you ain't got no cash nigga?
Say my name now that's your fucking ass nigga
Kept your mouth shut and I gave you a pass nigga
Now I gotta lay you down like the last nigga
Buck, buck, buck from my AK-47
This nigga playing with his life, I might have to put him in heaven
Tryna play the game, talking shit up on the stereo
Prepare for burial, it's when I'm reincarnating Harry-O
And you don't want that David cuz you love your life
Get my Vibe, when it's war he pull out butter knifes
Muthafucka I'ma show you who the gangsta
All you do is Murder Inc., now who the wanksta?
When Suge had you, you were stranded on Tha Row
Juve left you for dead and went back to the NO
50 heard you on the tour bus and felt your little flow
Then he made you temporary replacement for Yayo
You a bitch, and that's hard to swallow
And you got robbed for your spinning G-Unit chain in Chicago
I call my nigga Jojo to get it back
He had the shit in his hands, and you ain't had the ten stacks
Picture that, I thought we was G-Unit
Then you ran and told 50 that I did that shit
Ask C-Murder, the boy ain't hard to find
I told Monica when I catch him The Boy is Mine
Take one shot of Brandy and pop
Watch his panties drop, when I run inside the Candy Shop
Fuck you, 50, Banks, Yayo, and the cops
And Olivia, I mean for a man she hot
Now I'm running out of breath, like I just beat boxed
Got 20 bars to go, lay it down like sheet rock
Don't worry about the flow, the boy know he hot
Hurricanes in store November, nigga fuck Reebocks
I'm fly like a Hummingbird on a tree top
The new Hov, the new B.I.G., the new 'Pac, I need three spots
280 in, ain't no getting me back
I'm yelling fuck the world, on my victory lap
Remember first it was Buddens, then it was Bleek
Now it's whoever muthafucka, yeah, who want beef?
Now whenever muthafucka, who wanna see me?
In the coffin, body exhausted, resting in peace
You don't want war nigga, you want peace
So give 'em the peace, capiche (sp?)
Let 'em rest in peace
From west to east the flow is outdatable, irreplacable
Lyrical homicide, hell is hot, I'm boxing with Satan
And I slipped 'em the ace, you cannot replace 'em
If Eazy ever decide to return, I remain Jayceon
A king in the making, and the throne is for the taking
So I climb the mountain top and put my stake in
Got the weight of the world on my shoulder
Not a nigga nor a hoodrat bitch can stop me from taking it over
This is crack music, go get the baking soda
300 Bars and Runnin, nigga the wait is over
I'm gone gone gone gone gone gone gone gone gone gone gone

All that is involved in a post here is some generic biased, rock>>>>shit>rap post, or the any variation of techno/rap/rock/random music genre. Useless.
Maybe I could teach Osama that using a plane as a wraith or dropship would be 10x better than using it as a scourge..... ^^; -Flex

Game sucks. His whole album was nothing but hanging off of G-unit and Eminems dick. 300 bars was ok, but its nothing special, its just long as fuck.

Why would anyone vs cassidy? He's a fucking joke. I dont know one person that listens to him, other than the MTV crowd.

What ever happened to good old gangsta rap, not all this new shit claiming to be hardcore but is just played out easy listening R&B.

You should listen to Immortal Technique...that's rap that's not only smooth and well written. But his raps have deeper messages. (Usually)

The only musicians I consider to be poets in their songs (or at least very well skilled lyric writers):

John Lennon
Jim Morrison
Kurt Cobain
Lou Reed

Maybe I'm missing one or two. 50 cent (and rap in general) is an alternative lyric writing but definetly not very artistical to define it as poetry.

Big L, Rakim, Nas.. they all have so many art songs -_-

Rap is just something you have to learn to listen to. If you're not open to it you won't ever understand the brilliance behind it. Every musicgenre can be good in its own kind, there's no need to bash it or anything. It all comes down to your personal taste.. If you don't like it, sure, but don't talk shit about it, since you most likely haven't even bothered to 'understand' the music then.

But I agree, 50 isn't the greatest indeed ^_^; but it's not like he's the worst rapper around either, he actually got a couple nice songs.. it's just that the stuff that most people have been hearing on tv and shit is all crap :o
It has a strong technique, but it lacks oo.

those of you saying Game was just leaching off of g-unit and eminem on the documentary.. your f*cking stupid your raised in compton selling drugs watching your back every minute your out of your house and apparently in it and your gonna start beef with the ones who are paying you 1 million dollars to write some "poetry"... wow either you guys have alot of money or your plain stupid...

and if you want a good true shit i suggest downloading~

Z-Ro - Mo-Town Don
Z-Ro - Tall Tale of A G

also:

Game was more anticipated than 50Cent anyways despite the fact that he was with g-unit because most people hardly knew dre was gonna stick him with G-Unit they just knew he was comin out with Aftermath but he was most anticipated and outsold 50Cent's CD*^^

Z-Ro is a pretty good rapper

Game sucks. His whole album was nothing but hanging off of G-unit and Eminems dick. 300 bars was ok, but its nothing special, its just long as fuck.

Why would anyone vs cassidy? He's a fucking joke. I dont know one person that listens to him, other than the MTV crowd.

what the f*ck are you on? are you really that stupid? 50cents new cd was like a rock/punk record 2:30 songs rofl.. pathetic id be pissed buying that sh*t.. and lets see 50 put this many punches in a single song .. as soon as 50cent tops 300 bars in a song ill lay off em rofl.. he supposedly "murdered fat joe and jadakiss and took shots at nas" in his piggy bank song.. i saw like 1 hit per each rapper hes beefin with.. seriously wtf?

*btw* incase you didnt know cassidy's battled hella freestylers good cats and he recently retired from freestyling undefeated in his entire career.. so read up on it before you talk.. clown..

all rappers say they are undefeated etc. unles sthey have publicly lost

Cassidy beat freeway in a really gay battle, BIG DEAL

im not sure exactly what he did on fight klub, i dont even know if he battled anyone, but if he did im sure it wasnt anyone good anyway =) And Game was not more anticipated than 50cent dunno where yuo got that from, 50cent's original buzz > Game's by fuckloads ;O

They both arent that good, although games new cd > massacre mainly because production was so much better and game name dropping every song

Game and Memphis bleek were supposed to each put up 50k or something for a battle, of course it would never happen because the labels wouldnt want either of their products to get aired out

seems like everyone here listens to metal sometimes though. if your remember that "what album are you listening to today", like half of them where rather unknown metal bands (to the average american) . i think people here are missing the point of rap, it is really the complete opposite of metal to me.

when i listen to rap, i may be into the beat and music a lot, but ill for sure be listening to the lyrics and how they fit with the music and how it times right and if they are good or not. when i listen to metal, well i dont know like any of the lyrics like nearly all of the songs i have (most of the time because its not in english), and nor do i care. the voice becomes more of an instrument then something to be trying to listen to for words.

You dont need to same something to get it trhough a song.

Classical (spelling?) music has no lyrics at all, although it gets its message x1000 times better than any kind of music.

newsflash, they all lie about what they did.

rappers call each other out all the time, Big deal. The fact that you call 50cent a snitch is funny too, when you probably dont even know why they call him a "snitch" .

50cents Buzz was so much bigger than Games prior to his cd being released, Why do you think he got a $500,000 watch and $500,000 advance from Eminem and Dr.Dre =) Game Sat on the shelf for 2 years :0

Doesnt matter because neither of them are particularly good, just trying to help you get your facts straight

Stop talking out of your ass. Game was only good in G unit, and his songs were so good because 50 cent hepled him write most of his shit, AND game got alot of outside producers. And 50 cent a snitch?? Lmao, he gave no info to authorities when he got shot, and its NOW that their finding out Muder Inc. has plans to murder 50 cent, so please tell me how he is a snitch? Here's the news for you : Plans to murder 50 cent
And 50 cent making a bitch cd? Lmao you must be caught up listening to just a lil bit and candy shop, which are as far as im concerned, his only bitch songs (which are MADE to be put in clubs and sell) and considering he made most of his album (at least more than game did) himself, i think its pretty fucking good, and the lyrics aren't bad at all. Game on the other hand, is shit now that he's out of g unit, i haven't heard ONE song from him that i'd like to listen to. The only good song (a diss song at that) was 300 bars, and 50 + g unit just came back with a 300 shots. Nobody's doubting cassidy's freestyling skill at all, but he was just beefing with 50 cent to get bigger. Doing exactly what 50 did. And his cd isn't that good, only song that rlly sold was "I'm a hustla" and thats because swizz beatz helped him out with the production And the beat. Besides most of his songs are about hoe he's a hustler anyways, the material isnt that good. All in all game is a BITCH who got KICKED OUT of G-unit by 50 cent for being a disloyal, if not he'd still be in it latched on to 50's nut sack.

Edit: And game sold more than 50 cent? Lmao pls shh kid, games sales were no where near 50's and if they were (which they aren't and never will be) its Because of 50 cent and G-unit in the first place that he sold so much.
Im cooler than the other side of the pillow.

He was an okay lyricist, but his songs were all about the same thing basically and there were many better grunge lyricists, like chris cornell, eddie vedder, etc etc.

but a real lyrical genius is obviously mike jones...

The people who have only heard the radio "mainstream" shit are missing out. I'm real big into underground rap, basically all that gay shit cut out and they actually rap about struggles and shit they have been through. I'm not going to lie, I like G-Unit just to listen to cause its catchy but I don't believe a fucking word about how "thug" they are.

Underground I Would Suggest:

Masta Ace (wondeful, esp. his new cd 'A Long Hot Summer')
Jedi Mind Tricks (different style, they talk about crazy shit)
King Gordy (associates with D-12, probably be famous soon)

Try those, and if you like them tell me and I'll post more...

But, anyway, usually underground rappers when they hit mainstream change for the public. 50 cents gay ass "In Da Club" song was catchy but it fucking sucked. In my opinion, he has some talent but now he is so popular he does whatever and people eat it up. Whatever. Underground is the way to go...

i know your intentions were good, but i had to point this part out. i do recognize the image building that all popular artists establish for themselves, but they usually don't come with the caveat of let's shoot him or get our gang to trash him blah blah blah, which is heavily dramatic. but, trust me you're right.

meh, i suppose. i just dont see a difference between a rapper trying to project an image of being a thug and britney spears projecting an innocent image, or slutty image; or a band like shpongle projecting a transcendental image.

That's a pretty broad generalization. Mainstream music, yes, but music with substance needs very little image support. And yes, some of that music is even on major labels, though not best selling, artists of great calibre sometimes make it into an HMV. Look harder and you'll find them.

actually no joke, i would imagine that most true nerds (stereotypical ones) would meet that percentage because most nerds have no selfesteem and few friends. So it would be likely they listen to a more emotional type of music rather than a party type genre or a gang type. Atleast thats my opinon, but its based on no real evidence.

how would that prove that image is NOT 95 percent of music? i don't understand what you are trying to say. it sounds to me like you are trying to prove that any band with an 'image' now is only 5 percent musical talent.

there is so so so much music that does not require commercialization. there is commercialized music which requires extreme talent as well. i think your statement that all music is 95% image is completely wrong.

edit: the first band website i checked (queenonline.com) did not have an 'image'..

nerds are also by definition smarter than your average teenager (that alone should drive him away from rap/pop/dance etc... jk jk, don't get offended ppl ) and that can create alienation issues and anti-social behaviour etc, so they are more likely to relate to metal/rock lyrics and just general attitude.

That is the stupidest statistic I have ever read. How do you come to that conclusion? Not all bands focus on image. If that statistic is true, then how is it that I have fallen in love with the music of numerous musicians without seeing them, knowing anything about them, or seeing their website/logo. Maybe for mainstream music your statisitics could work, but for anything that is actually good image is not an issue. If anything, non-mainstream music could be 95%music and 5% image.

Notorious B.I.G. - Juicy Lyrics

[Intro

(F**k all you hoes) Get a grip motherf**ker.

Yeah, this album is dedicated to all the teachers that told me
I'd never amount to nothin', to all the people that lived above
the
buildings that I was hustlin' in front of that called the police
on
me when I was just tryin' to make some money to feed my
daughters,
and all the niggaz in the struggle, you know what I'm sayin'?

Uh-ha, it's all good baby bay-bee, uh

[Verse One

It was all a dream
I used to read Word Up magazine
Salt'n'Pepa and Heavy D up in the limousine
Hangin' pictures on my wall
Every Saturday Rap Attack, Mr. Magic, Marley Marl
I let my tape rock 'til my tape popped
Smokin' weed and bamboo, sippin' on private stock
Way back, when I had the red and black lumberjack
With the hat to match
Remember Rappin' Duke, duh-ha, duh-ha
You never thought that hip hop would take it this far
Now I'm in the limelight 'cause I rhyme tight
Time to get paid, blow up like the World Trade
Born filla, the opposite of a winner
Remember when I used to eat sardines for dinner
Peace to Ron G, Brucey B, Kid Capri
Funkmaster Flex, Lovebug Starsky
I'm blowin' up like you thought I would
Call the crib, same number same hood
It's all good

Uh, and if you don't know, now you know, nigga, uh

[Chorus

You know very well who you are
Don't let em hold you down, reach for the stars
You had a go, but not that many
'cause you're the only one I'll give you good and plenty

[Verse Two

I made the change from a common thief
To up close and personal with Robin Leach
And I'm far from cheap, I smoke skunk with my peeps all day
Spread love, it's the Brooklyn way
The Moet and Alize keep me pissy
Girls used to diss me
Now they write letters 'cause they miss me
I never thought it could happen, this rappin' stuff
I was too used to packin' gats and stuff
Now honies play me close like butter played toast
From the Mississippi down to the east coast
Condos in Queens, indo for weeks
Sold out seats to hear Biggie Smalls speak
Livin' life without fear
Puttin' 5 karats in my baby girl's ears
Lunches, brunches, interviews by the pool
Considered a fool 'cause I dropped out of high school
Stereotypes of a black male misunderstood
And it's still all good

Uh...and if you don't know, now you know, nigga

[Verse Three

Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis
When I was dead broke, man I couldn't picture this
50 inch screen, money green leather sofa
Got two rides, a limousine with a chauffeur
Phone bill about two G's flat
No need to worry, my accountant handles that
And my whole crew is loungin'
Celebratin' every day, no more public housin'
Thinkin' back on my one-room shack
Now my mom pimps a Ac' with minks on her back
And she loves to show me off, of course
Smiles every time my face is up in The Source
We used to fuss when the landlord dissed us
No heat, wonder why Christmas missed us
Birthdays was the worst days
Now we sip champagne when we thirst-ay
Uh, damn right I like the life I live
'Cause I went from negative to positive
And it's all...

(It's all good)

...and if you don't know, now you know, nigga, uh
Uh, uh...and if you don't know, now you know, nigga
Uh...and if you don't know, now you know, nigga, uh

Representin' B-Town in the house, Junior Mafia, mad flavor, uh
Uh, yeah, a-ight

thats rap for u, i would throw some tupac on it but i dont have time

Ghetto Gospel

Uhh,
Hit them with a lil' ghetto gospel

[Chorus - Elton John
Those who wish to follow me (My ghetto gospel)
I welcome with my hands
And the red sun sinks at last into the hills of gold
And peace to this young warrior without the sound of guns

[2Pac]
If I could recelect before my hood dayz
I'd sit and reminisce, nigga and bliss on the good dayz
i stop and stare at the younger, my heart goes to'em
They tested, it was stressed that they under
In our days, things changed
Everyone's ashamed to the youth cuz the truth looks strange
And for me it's reversed, we left them a world that's cursed, and it hurts
cause any day they'll push the button
and yall condemned like Malcolm x and Bobby Hunton, died for nothin
Don't them let me get teary, the world looks dreary
but when you wipe your eyes, see it clearly
there's no need for you to fear me
if you take the time to hear me, maybe you can learn to cheer me
it aint about black or white, cuz we're human
I hope we see the light before its ruined
my ghetto gospel

[Chorus - Elton John]

[2Pac]
Tell me do you see that old lady aint it sad
Living out a bag, but she's glad for the little things she has
And over there there's a lady, crack got her crazy
Guess she's given birth to a baby
I don't trip and let it fade me, from outta the frying pan
We jump into another form of slavery
Even now I keep discouraged
Wonder if they take it all back while I still keep the courage
I refuse to be a role model
I set goals, take control, drink out my own bottle
I make mistakes, I learn from everyone
And when its said and done
I bet this Brotha be a better one
If I'm upset, you don't stress
Never forget, that God hasn't finished with me yet
I feel his hand on my brain
When I write rhymes, I go blind, and let the lord do his thang
But am I less holy
Cuz I choose to puff a blunt and drink a beer with my homies
Before we find world peace
We gotta find peace in that war on the streets
My ghetto gospel

[Chorus - Elton John]

[2Pac]
Lord can you hear me speak!!
To pay the price of being hell bound...

For those who don't know, Tupac was really into reading and writing poetry before he started rapping, there's even a book on amazon.com with some of his work "The Rose That Grew From Concrete"

Tupac even changed his name to to Makaveli after an Italian philosopher whoe's teachings iterested Tupac.

Rap is generally for people who care only about lyrics.

Which makes me wonder why people are buying 50 cent's albums.

"yo nigga bitch ho gangsta yo"

"rebel against conformity! fuck the system!"

"oh man I''ve got serious problems in my petty teenage life. I'm so deep."

"life is pain, so let's sacrifice our souls to the demons of darkness"

"ooOOooyehehaheha babay ooOOoo LOVE yea buy my albums I was on American Idoool"

This is merely what one sees and hears on TV. Which unfortunately is all most people see and hear all their lives. That idiot who put the words 50 Cent and Poet in the same sentence deserve nothing more than 50 cent.

Ever see that comedian who has a section of his act called "rap translated into white"? Absolutely hilarious.
I admire your commitment to being *very* oily

actually now its more about people caring about beats and club music

although the true people like it for the lyrics and the production ;o

if you listen to the radio just in the car getting from place to place, yes but if your staying true to what your doing and the life you chose listening to rap your going to break down the lyrics and try to get a picture of what the person is saying.. thats why i like Z-Ro cuz alot of his songs tell about a certain incident in his life.

WOW YOU'RE STUPID! People download all the time, and that doesn't count for record sales. Radio success doesn't translate in to record sales, either, ask Megadeth. They had a couple of number 1 hits on Billboard within the last ten years, but the albums sold for shit.

That's not what metal is about anyhow.

Here are some real metal lyrics:

Red flash clouds
Choking out the morning sky
They said it'd never come,
We knew it was a lie
All forms of life die now,
The humans all succumb
Time to kiss your ass goodbye,
The end has just begun

Distorted figures walk the street,
It's 1999
Weeds once underneath the feet
Have grown to vines
Bodies melted like a candle,
A land without a face
No time to change your fate,
No time left, it's too late

The aresenal of Megadeth can't be rid of they said
And if it comes the living will envy the dead
Racing for power and all come in last
No winning, first stone cast

This falsehood wordly peace
Its treaties soon will cease
No one will be left to prove
That humans existed
Maybe soon the children
Will be born open fisted
We all live on one planet
And it will all go up in smoke

Too bad they couldn't see this lethal energy
And now the final scene, a global darkening

Dig deep the piles of rubble and ruin
Towering overhead both far and wide
There's unknown tools for World War III
Einstein said, 'We'll use rocks on the other side'
No survivors, set the world afire!

Tell me that's about getting depressed and cutting yourself, or whining about life.

Here's more for ya:

Thermal count is rising
In perpetual writhing
The primordial ooze
And the sanity they lose

Awakened in the morning
To more air-pollution warnings
Still we sleepwalk off to work
As our nervous systems jerk

Pretending not to notice
How history has forbode us
With the greenhouse in effect
Our environment is wrecked

Now I can only laugh
As I read our epitaph
We end our lives as moles
In the dark of the dawn patrol

More:

Born from the dark,
In the black cloak of night.
To envelope its prey below,
Deliver to the light,
To eliminate your enemy,
Hit them in their sleep,
And when all is won and lost,
The spoils of war are yours to keep.

Great nations built from the bones of the dead,
With mud and straw, blood and sweat,
You know your worth when your enemies
Praise your architecture of aggression.

Ensuing power vacuum,
A toppled leader dies
His body fuels the power fire,
And the flames rise to the sky.
One side of his face a kiss,
The other genocide,
Time to pay with your ass,
A worldwide suicide.

Born from the dark,
In the black cloak of night.
To envelope its prey below,
Deliver to the light,
To eliminate your enemy,
Hit them in their sleep,
And when all is won and lost,
The spoils of war are yours to keep.

All rap is doing is the same things rock did twenty years ago, without the talent. Motley Crue did it all about girls, drugs, cars, everything, they sang about it, and they played some awesome music with it. It wasn't just a fucking beat, either. KISS did songs about girls all the time, practically every band has done songs about drugs. The rappers aren't doing anything original by talking about drugs, cars, women, big houses, and money, because it was all done before by the hardrock and metal groups. Now most of it's just emo bullshit.
I'm never gonna know you now \ But I'm gonna love you anyhow.

ok, if all rap is like 50 cent then all metal is like linkin park and evenescence, its a dumbass way to look at it. of course there are crap rappers, just the same way there is crap rock (for a while there was more crap rock than crap rap played on the radio, now its more flipped). if you think every single rapper sings about bitches, gunz, money, and drugs all the time, then you really need to think long and hard how illogical that is.

eminem (sorry) has or had some of the cleverest lyrics with the most complicated rhyme schemes in rap. it's gotten worse with his newest album, but the eminem show made me laugh out loud many times. still not much to talk about as far as content goes. 50 cent is just fucking terrible, the only reason he gets anywhere is because he has help from the best producers in the business, not to mention a thug-life image that makes tupac blush. i just want to kill people when they tell me how great 50 cent is.

i think rap is a novelty act that'll either mature into something worth listening to or just eventually squeeze itself into a niche genre for african americans or wiggers. whatever. please just let people stop singing 50 cent in the locker room please.

Wow, fine some better rap plz. That's like comparing Britney Spears and Luther Vandross cuz they both pop.. No way man.. and anyone who says rap is for retards is retarded.
Wtf is up with this board and then some idiot (ZIA) findin some of the worst lyrics she can to flame 50 who the world knows sucks only to bring indirect flame to other rappers.

Here's a classic for ya, tell me how this isn't ill? This was back in the early 90's...

Before a blunt, I take out my fronts
Then I start to front, matter of fact, I be on a manhunt
You couldn't catch me in the streets without a ton of reefer
That's like Malcom X catching the Jungle Fever
King poetic, too much flava, Im major
Atlanta ain't braver, I pull a number like a pager
Cuz I'm an ace when I face the bass
40 side is the place that is giving me grace
Now wait, another dose and you might be dead
And I'm a Nike head, i wear chains that excite the feds
And aint' a damn thing gonna change
I'ma performer, (I'll) show the mic warmer was born to gain
Nas, why did you do it
You know you got the mad fat fluid when you rhyme, it's halftime

Right...
It's halftime...

It's like that, you know it's like that
I got at him, now you never get the mic back
When I attack, there ain't an army that could strike back
So I react never calmly on a hype track
I set it off wit my own rhyme
Cuz I'm as ill as a convict who kills for phone time
I'm max like cassettes, I flex like sex
In your stereo sets, Nas will catch wreck
I used to hustle, now all I do is relax and strive
When I was young, I was a fan of the Jackson 5
I drop jewels, wear jewels to never run it
Wit more kicks than a baby in a mother's stomach
Nasty Nas has to rise, kid, surprise
This is exercise til the microphone dies
Back in '83, I was an MC sparking
But I was too scared to grab the mic's in the park and
Kick my little raps cuz I thought niggaz wouldn't understand
And now in every jam I'm the phucking man
I rap in front of more niggaz than in the slave ships
I used to watch C.H.I.P.S, now I load glock clips
I got to have it, I miss Mr Magic
Versatile, my style switches like a faggot
But not a bisexual, I'm an intellectual
Of rap, I'm a professional and that's no question, yo
These are the lyrics of the man, you can't near it, understand
Cuz in the streets, I'm well known like the number man
In my place wit the bass and format
Explore rap and tell me Nas ain't all that
And next time I rhyme, I be foul whenever I freestyle
I see trial niggaz say I'm wow
I hate a rhymebiter's rhyme
Stay tuned, Nas, soon the real rap comes at halftime

More kicks than a baby in a mother's stomach? PUA~ Golden.
Not to mention his rhyme scheme and the way he raps it doesn't do justice as text on a page.

So slick~ So smoove, plus his technique is one of the best rap has.. but very few here coudl catch the subtleties in his rap cuz yall just hate.

Um.. are you like retard?? My argument from the beginning is that the hiphop genre is getting more and more popular than the rock genre these days. So unless you're trying to counter my opinion your post is pointless. So let's just assume that you're trying to counter my point.
Say out of 150 people 100 people download mp3s and 50 people buy albums. Now, unless you have a valid source to prove that more rock fans download mp3s then hiphop fans my statement stays true. Because really what counts is the distribution (%) of the sales between different genres, not the number of sales itself.
I don't know why you bother to mention radio hits when it's not really significant. Again, unless you have a valid source to prove that there were more radio hits of rock genre than others, your statement is useless.
I'm not trying to argue that the music industry in whole are not declining, sure it is.. I totally agree.. so think before you post and before you tell me to pull my head out of of my ass, keep in your mind that unlike you, I don't have the talent to talk out of my ass.

Every genre of music will have groups that produce crap. Posting lyrics from those groups in attempt to belittle somebody else's musical preference is really quite lame, and attempting to generalize the entire genre by it is even worse.

since everyone's posting lyrics now...
Till I collapse I’m spilling these raps long as you feel em
Till the day that I drop you’ll never say that I’m not killing them
Cause when I am not then I am stop pinning them
And I am not hip-hop and I’m just not Eminem.
Subliminal thoughts when I’m stop sending them women are caught in webs spin and hauk venom
Adrenaline shots of penicillin could not get the illing to stop. Amoxacilin is just not real
enough.
The criminal cop killing hip-hop filling minimal swap to cop millions of Pac listeners.
Your coming with me, feel it or not you’re gonna fear it like I showed you the spirit of god

You hear it a lot, lyrics the shock is it a miracle or am I just a product of pop fizzing up.
For shizzle my whizzle this is the plot listen up you bizzles forgot slizzle does not give a
fuck.

eminem - till i collapse.

i loved the eminem show even though a lot of the lyrics sacrificed grammar for obscenely complicated but satisfying rhyme schemes.

"Like they worship us, plus all the stores ship us platinum
Now how the fuck did this metamorphosis happen"

he rhymes "stores ship us platinum" with meta"morphosis happen," which if you knew something about writing lyrics, is pretty clever. when he does this consistently throughout the album, it's hard to argue he isn't a good lyricist. eminem is the only rapper i've ever enjoyed listening to, just because of his insane rhymes.

as much as i dont really care for eminem ANYMORE because hes cleaned up his act so much and thats good for him but thats just not what i personally wanna hear.. nothin against em.. but that til i collapse song intro has got to have the best rhyme scheme ive heard from him.. i watched 8Mile behind the scenes or w/e and saw him warming up freestyles like.. shit i cant remember i got jacked for my 8Mile DVD like 2 years ago rofl.. it was something like.. "these rap battles get off to slow starts.. but finish strong like fat people in go-carts" or something just made me laugh cuz i could visualize it lolz =)

it really doesn't matter what the lyrics of a song are thats not the only factor that makes me like it or not.

and the first song posted; i really didn't think the lyrics were that bad. it is also, by all definitions, poetry. the fact that you don't like it does nothing to change that. I haven't read a single emily dickenson poem I liked but that doesn't mean anything.

imma post lyrics of a rap song by DZK called Bow Down

I keep seeing a repeating, scene in my dreams,
I'm weeping peacefully, in a green pasture of sheep
who breathe deeply, relaxed on the grass, asleep when
I see these factions, of masked men, with axes, creepin

I can see, that we're captured, but when I scream, the assassins
begin laughing, and the sheep don't even seem to gather
the fact that their masters are grabbin and smashing their backs in
in a graphic fashion and draggin the cadavers past em

the sadness from those savage actions I had to fathom
never passes, even though, they were so overtly imagined
they show, actual patterns of what can happen to those trapped in
the rapture of the Holy Ghost if they don't open their lashes

and focus on what matters most... before they cash in
choke and pass and go in a casket, or blow in the passing
wind over the ocean as scattered ashes and bone fragments
just hopin their pastor was accurate

[bow down and] - pray
pray to your god
[now, bow down and] -pray
pray to your god

what kinda creator would make a race of people
and make em act a certain way or else He deems 'em evil?
HOW can You give a living being the freedom to breathe
and then lead em into sea of decievers who greet em, see,

it's not a miracle, when you beat a disease [please]
it's not a miracle, when you breed and receive
a baby from a lady, it's nature, you can pray to a tree
it don't mean the seasons are changing cuz you believe in the leaves

faith is a crazy made up way to explain, what you can't explain
in way that you can't debate it, it's insane that we live in a nation,
that's innovative enough to create a station in space
but we still praise the pages of an ancient publication

considered great.... in the motherfuckin middles ages,
I'm sick of the way this civilization blames their hatred
on a simple fictional basis such as Satan it makes me
sick to my stomach, it's just disgusting aint it?

[bow down and] - pray
pray to your god
[now, bow down and] -pray
pray to your god

and I'm sick of censorship committees, grippin the dicks of Christian Ministries
who are admittingly, just letting any priest get a piece,
of greased little boy keester and get away free
while they celebrate Easter... Jesus, it's un-fuckin-believable

that you people still worship invisible entities, I mean,
who seriously wants to live for infinity? are you kidding me?
if you guys wanna censor a bigger lie, try the validity
of a city sittin in the sky, where everybody who died is now living

better yet, convince me that the visceral presence
of an invincible peasant will some-how better my fuckin intelligence
and gimme some evidence, heaven exists, besides some lessons
written by guys who couldn't technically give any relevant tips

except that I should be a celibate twit who cries like a bitch
to a timeless spirit everytime that I'm fearing some shit
the entire idea of religion's been queer since it was twisted
to it's limit, now it's a just mere hindrance

for me lyrics must be either amusing or just somehow fitting to the style of music. they're 99.9% bullshit anyways and just in the song because instrumental songs suck.

[Necro]
Ladies and gentlemen
Tonight we present torture and sodomy
Hosted by Necrophiliac and Ill Cannibill
Relax n smoke your crills

I'll make your eyeballs go back in your skull and come out your ass
I'm walkin' on hot coal and glass
I shit on the church's mass
Sacraligous I'll sever your body something prestigious
Precise cuts, I'm fascinated with women's guts
I'm hittin skins and I'm jerkin' off on your intestines
I'll fuck you in your ass bitch
Now you're colon is swollen
When I go bowlin'
To achieve a strike
I use the headpiece of a dyke
I swing her brains down the lane
I'm a sadomasochist
One finger, two fingers, three fingers
Four fingers, FUCK IT THE WHOLE FIST
Up your asshole
Now you're ready for Ed Powers
And Rocko Sefreddi to suck my cock hoe

[Ill Bill]
I be gettin' backrubs in backrooms of S&M clubs
I'm on drugs
During sex I use anal beads and butt plugs
I'm holdin' bitches dooty holes hostage
Their sisters sphincter keeps me warm during the winter 'cause my cocks big
It gets stuck
Bitches be getting fucked up the asshole
Open ya oven
So I can cook the dooty casserole
That's how I'm living, givin' bitches the shits
I fuck 'em between they tits, then I bust a nut on they lips
I vaccinate sockets with lip plugs like if I was to flip once
I snag body bags with dirty hags and cuts
Shooting chemicals directly into my jugular
Look around, shit's getting uglier and uglier
Spinnin' within my hyperbaric chamber
Nothin' short of a bloody rusty razor
fingerprint that could stop my behavior
Generally and federally
Etcetera, etcetera
Shooting storm troopers lie deadera
I emphasize like Emphysema
Every word I speak creeps into your blood stream like Leukemia
I instigate mutilation
Under federal investigation
Escaping police stations

[Necro]
Yah I got dead bodys covered with hay in my barn
Loud motherfuckers get their lips sewn with yarn
Out the ten story window, headfirst I chuck you
Attach a switchblade to my dick and then I fuck you (Fuck you!)
In and out, as I cut the uterus
You'll soon be, familiar with torture if you're new to this
Leave you glued to a piss-stained wall
Take my brain out of my skull
And watch my fuckin' brain crawl
'Cause IT'S ALIVE, MOTHERFUCKIN' ALIVE
Bend over and get sodomized with the .45
Bumpin'into the beehive and get stung
I got the noose of death, so nigga come and get hung
Willingly, your rectum gets bruised
I come from the world where niggas get fuckin' abused
The realm of violent crime
Where bitches get fucked in the pussy and ass at the same time

[Chorus]
Eat shit and die
Eat shit and die
Eat shit and die
Eat shit and die
Eat shit and die
Eat shit and die
Eat shit and die
Eat shit and die

[Ill Bill]
I'm comin' out from inside the walls like asbestos
A ghost disappearing and reappearing when least most, expected
I gank kids on their own
'Cause I'm inproper
I'm a monster, responsible for missing camp counselors
I'm analyzing bio-rhythms
Sleeping my victims with incisions
My sensory sees catastrophic visions
Over the image of Jehovah I burn sober
In retrospect I infect your innards just like an ulcer
Then twist facial features like Rocky Dennis
When I menace it's horrendous
My bloody appetite's tremendous
Enormous
Watch the metamorphosis
Diggin bitches in orifices
Remorse is not my thoughts when I catch a corpse
The torture tactics I practice tear up your mattress
Kidnap an actress
That activate vibrateing plastics

[Necro]
When they made me
I was so, evil they broke the mold
Necro is cold, my fucking birth should of been controlled
If you're bold you'll get strangled with your gold
Going once !! going twice !! another fucking white slave sold
For wacking off I have compulsive dependancy
From the tendency, for ruining bitches pregnancy
Niggas can't understand my morbid biology
I bring, new, meaning to the studies of Gynacology
When I shove, razors up your cunt you'll see
All bitches that diss me wind up with fucking V.D.
When I was in my mom's cunt, my father slaughtered me
I came back from the dead, after my mom aborted me
Bloody, fetus, baby of Satan, Devil's child
Leavin' bodies on all types of motherfuckin' level piles
So girl take fuckin' caution,
'Cause if you're walkin home alone tonight
You might wind up a bitch on auction
And if you can't take you and you're concious hun,
I'll be like Ralphus, and shoot a slug into you from my blow gun
[Ill Bill]
I'm stirring in the pain in the center of your brain
Carve a path with a butcher knife
Walk down the lane
Take a stroll through the hole in your head
Stab untill your dead
I'd like to paint the world blood red
Flippin' like OJ Simpson, the Joel Rifkin
Covered in crimson
Everywhere you look another dead shook
On the meat hook hangin'
Then I'm up in your place to spread your wife's legs for the bangin'
I love to fuck retarded chicks with wiffle ball bats
Then watch there fuckin' head go splat when I pull out the gat
I'm also into sodomizing secretaries
I'm very scary
My ice pick rips through virgin cherries
And all you goons that think you got half of what me and my brother got
You get chop chop chopped like Bobbit's cock

[Chorus]
Eat shit and die
Eat shit and die
Eat shit and die
Eat shit and die
Eat shit and die
Eat shit and die
Eat shit and die
Eat shit and DIE!!!!!

Necrophiliac nineteen ninety gore
Ill Cannibill nineteen ninety gore

Eat my shit
Eat my shit
Eat my shit

You suckin dick for crack
You suckin dick for crack

*btw* incase you didnt know cassidy's battled hella freestylers good cats and he recently retired from freestyling undefeated in his entire career.. so read up on it before you talk.. clown..

Someone forgot to take their meds eh? When did I say anything positive in regards to 50 cent's latest album? If you even bothered to pay attention to the posts in this thread you would see that I trashed it. And uhmmm piggy bank was whack. Grats on that conclusion, I figured that song would be included in the trash I called his latest album.

Where is Ja Rule now? Washed up. Why? Because 50 shattered his entire career, and the record label for that matter. If your basing 50's talent on 'The Massacre' your an idiot. Marketed for teeny bop suburbanites. 300 bars was 'OK'. Nothing fucking special about it. When you compare songs like that to Jay-Z / Beanie Siegel / Jada's diss tracks, its pretty fucking boring. Game is highly overrated. And yes his entire album is nothing but throwing names around, Young buck/Yayo/lloyd banks/ dre/ 50 / Eminem. THE ENTIRE FUCKING ALBUM.

Just because hes the shit in your perochial school doesnt mean hes the shit on the streets.

And as far as Cassidy is concerned, hes a fucking joke. I dont know where you get this undefeated freestyle shit from but hes from philly, notorious for terrible fucking rappers, and hes following in their footsteps damn well. His album is terrible, his lyrics are fucking garbage and he cant flow with the beat.

Next your gonna tell me Lil Bow Wow and Lil Romeo are the shit?

"instrumental songs suck"? So unless a song has lyrics written to it,itCANNOT POSSIBLY be a good song? Wow that is just plain stupid. Why even listen to music then? Why not just read the lyrics, or rap without music because the music without the lyrics sucks anyways;)

Ya that super hero song is ok, how many people have heard of him though? He doesnt do anything now adays anyway. Ryan Banks is good as well, but another underground rapper I doubt most people havent heard of. But for the most part Philly rappers suck, including Cassidy. Am I wrong?

my talk of game is strictly in comparison to 50cent and basically all of g-unit "Records" and im sure no one who really is "For the streets" spends there time writing a fucking novel on a website about who really can rap and who cant. but ive listened to lots of 50cents shit a couple songs stuck to me but the rest arent shit.. i used to listen to uh.. Guess Who's Back? or 50Cent Is The Future? or Power Of The Dollar? some of the shit when he was on columbia No Mercy, No Fear... there was some decent songs then i agree but since he got signed hes been putting out pop.. whatever sells i guess his problem is hes so concentrated on the green hes forgotten about what people wanna hear and "Street CreD" etc.. like people think Proof of G-Unit is lazy i was reading on a forum.. total idiots.. people say hes delaying his album "Searching For Jerry Garcia" as long as he did.. but proof was bangin out mixtapes after mixtapes while he was putting his album on hold because he knew it was gonna sell like 10 copies and the rest uploaded on the internet then downloaded to someones comp.. wheres the fucking motivation to pump out this CD and make 200 dollars off of it? anyways this isnt about proof hes just an example to my point... and Game has hotter shit than anyone on G-unit/Shady records.. that was my point.. not GAME IS RUNNING RAP.. cuz hes not.. but Game certainly tears the shit out of shady/g-unit

i also like how almost no one understood that 50 ATTEMPTED to smash Game back on Piggy Bank..

50 Cent - Piggy Bank

"Got A Hundred Guns a Hundred Clips? Why I Don't Hear No Shots?"

Game - New York, New York (Remix)

"I got a hundred guns and a hundred clips nigga im in New York! New York!
Ride wit a hundred bloods and a hundred crips whenever im in New York! New York!"

later.. (End Of First Verse) >

"Drive Through The Bronx
And Get Jada(Kiss) On The Phone My Next Stop is Yonkaz!
After That Its Harlem.. Why? Cuz Im a Certified Gangsta And Jim Jones Throwin a Blood Party..
Red Bandana's From 93rd To 115th And Lenix..
Its The Sequel To "Menace"
And Oh Lord! He Done Went O-Dawg!
Made 50's Beef His And Knocked 'em Both Off!"

once again ripping 50..
