The music and movie industry is crazy. When the radio was invented they were like: "omg, omg, black hole, the world is ending, there will be no more music, radio is evil we need to destroy it", a year later their sales tippled The TV was invented and they were like:" omg, omg, the world is ending, black hope to engulf us all, Tv is evil, the economy is going to be destroyed", two years later their sales doubled and 5 years later increased 6x times. The cassette was invented and of course with it hi-fi that can record the tapes and they were like: "omg, omg, this is the doomsday, black hole, the world as we know it is going to end, cassettes are evil" and a year later their sales increased 3x times and 5 years later 15x times. Then the computers and CD came along and it was the same until their sales doubled over what they were just the previous year and then the internet came along and they still are: "omg, omg, black hole, the world is ending, we are being destroyed, the economy is going to end, internet is evil" and their sales have been breaking all records in the past 10 years, each year better than the previous.

Hello Congressman Walz, I'm writing to you today about a topic very dear to me. Freedom of Speech on the internet. This bill PROTECT IP (S. 968)/SOPA (HR. 3261) is massively over broad and would be detrimental to all websites that don't have a cadre of lawyers at their beck and call to protect against all claims of IP infringement. Passing more legislation like this (this has been going on ever since content controllers, not necessarily creators, realized the internet is a big deal) will effectively destroy the internet as a place where knowledge and ideas can be freely shared. Here is what scares me: "The Department of Justice could force search engines, browsers, and service providers to block users' access to websites, and scrub the American Internet clean of any trace of their existence." You can say: "oh, that won't ever happen", but every time, without fail, those specific clauses come into play and GREATLY affect people's freedoms. Please don't pass this legislation. As easy as it would be to run a government in the United Corporations of America; moving in this direction will crush America economically, ethically, creatively, and spiritually.
