I wouldn't count on that being an effective strategy. It's often much better to stop these sort of things before they happen. You might get more awareness but it's extreemly hard to make a change afterwards, just like we have seen in other countries that have passed laws that restrict the internet or something similar. People run out of breath and the laws remain.

LOL. So, they exempt basically the whole internet from the bill anyway when the main problem is it being useless? AMERICA!!!

Watching right now, I don't think this will pass.... if it does I will be one sad Panda.

Most of these bills do not pass. It's never pleasant to see them come up and it's very easy to surmise corporate influence behind them but despite the prevailing opinion of the internet- my government is not completely corrupt.

Wow.. that was such a heated argument over that amendment.. Didn't catch what exactly it was, but that got added to the bill thus far. Idk this thing sounds really ridiculous. Can't see this going through in the end.

Jesus... This mr. goodlatte is a liar through and through.

Watching the livestream now... Someone needs to take these people's fucking cell phones away while they're in session.
Seriously, if I was twittering at work, I'd be fucking FIRED.
We could also use it to our advantage.
Take their phone as they walk in, "Under this bill, you wouldn't have twitter or facebook AT ALL."

So who is winning LOL Is the bill going through or not?

from what i saw they did some voting and the more votes were 'no' and the amendment was not passed =_=;

Put it this way, with each reasonable change voted down, my respect for the American government drops. They were arguing to make a change that a person/company that has a copyright infringement claim against them should be able to make a statement before their site is shut down and people were arguing that wasn't fair to the copyright holder. What a joke. At least they delayed all the really important amendments from late yesterday until today so all the idiots voting would actually be thinking about the future of their country instead of their next meal.

Only 20~ or so elected officials are voting on something as huge as this?!

All this exists because we, the people, let corporate greed spiral out of control and now it's finally a "problem." If corporations were really people, they'd be friggin' sociopaths.
Bill Clinton outlined that in the 70's, corporations were expected to act on behalf of their communities, and that they were expected to behave sensibly. That has been eroded for the last 30+ years into the sickening zero-sum game it is now.
Dissolve the RIAA and MPAA, and everyone involved with making and producing music, or purchasing music, will be better off. Hell, I purchase ALL of my music, and I won't give a single penny to any artist represented by the RIAA. Haven't since I was 12 and smelled their bullshit for the first time.
Change the copyright laws to not extend to the "lifespan of the creater" and 90 YEARS.
Copyright is a flawed, outdated concept anyways.

and 2/3 of them are on their fucking smartphones twittering. Shows you just how great this country is at electing people into government that truly care about doing a good job and representing their constituents.
We need public officials. Just not the ones that apply for the job.

Its in committee, next stop would actually be people voting on it in the the house/senate proper.
Its definitely going to get out of committee though, but I'm pretty sure it'll die afterwards. The reason it will get out it because since committees basically rule what gets voted on in the rest of the chamber they get the most bribe(lobby) money to get the ball rolling.
Seriously being on committee is so important because it is a massive pay raise from lobbyists.
