Although it really seems like the timers on the questions are pointless, and sometimes detrimental. If it would give me a few more seconds I'd be able to get it, it just takes longer because it's hard reading a different alphabet. Is there any way to increase or eliminate the timers?

Jordy I totally agree with Jordy here, please let us choose. I prefer writing answers in korean.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/biexxx It's a compiled autohotkey script which will allow you to write the special german characters using windows key + a, o, u or s. (works with shift too for capitals) Also check my first 2 wordlists if you want (by Tl-DarkSider). Most of the big wordlists have too many unusual words or too few basic ones so i started making my own ![]()

edit: Hmm, it might be a bug with the system or just with the Korean wordshowers.com wordlist. Also, quite a few of my languages are bugging out, saying something went wrong, these include German Demo, Mandarin Survival, Mandarin Comprehensive and JLPT N2 Vocabulary.

Is this intentional, because some times I don't mind spending more time on certain words, but it seems contradictory. I'm guessing it's probably intentional, so that your brain doesn't have any practicing time and has to try to recall the words a few hours later, rather than this constant refreshing.

Please allow us to choose between learning with pronunciation/pinyin and actual characters. Oh and to the guy asking how to type Chinese: you can do it with an american keyboard. All you need to do is to install some sort of language add on (depends on your OS, sometimes its already installed), and then you can switch language input to Chinese, with different options (type in pinyin, type in bopomo, etc)

But you need the bots gone, i don't see anyone posting right now :p. And the leaderboard seems flawed. I mean the #1 guy only learned 94 words but has done ~8k tests (which should be easy as hell with only so few). I think you should make it a different algorithm that takes into equation the number of words learned (this could even motivate people to learn words in more than 1 language). Yes, the spambots are rather embarrassing. We're flushing out the forum threads every few hours, but they keep getting filled up again. Time to add some basic spam detection to our login and forum posting! Thanks for the heads-up. And you're right about the leaderboard issues. You guys know about points better than anyone, so we'd love to consult you about how to set things up to be fairer in the future.

Jordy You're right. For now, we've set the Korean back to the way it was. Right now, we have a number of global settings for each language - as you say, we might have to expand them to be configurable for each user as well.

Our models for determining the state of your memories for each word take in a lot of factors, and I think a few of you stumbled on an edge case. We've reworked things today, so I'm hoping that that will have fixed the issue for you. [I know we introduced a couple of imperfections in the process, e.g. with the way we deal with 'nearly' correct answers. We're on it!]
