Debate was awesome-sauce. :S Yeah that made me cringe, interesting debate, Romney didn't screw up majorly at all so he should still be a easy favorite. I think that romney definitely screwed up. He didn't seem as confident with his answers and newt plus rick slammed him hard both at the start and at the end of the race. And god that crowd seemed hostile towards pauls foreign policy. At least he was able to redeem himself with the war mongering idea that he uses. I read before that fox hires their crowd specifically those that are as biased as the news organization. Anyone confirm or deny that fact Well we know they tell crowds to yell what and when in the background when they are showing stuff from the field. Wouldn't put it past them to only give seats to those people who are for whoever canidate they endorse. Anyway I think of myself a liberal and democrat in most senses and I just think most of the Republican candidates just seem like major retards tbh. I'd only possible think about voting for Paul because he seems like he actually knows what hes talking about and would get something done, though some of his views I don't agree with. Still voting for Obama though because I feel like hes the better decision.
It's not just you, many of them do seem very stupid. Many of them campaign on non-existent issues or things the President doesn't have any control over whatsoever just to get votes.

That's such horseshit. Everybody has already heard what guys like Romney and Gingrich spew out.
Let the guy who actually wants to change stuff get a few words in.

The two party system. The illusion of choice. God bless America.

Just googled the full version of the Ron Paul booing thing.
It's worse than I thought. No wonder the Guardian was visibly pissed off.

You know as I'm listening to the bits and pieces of the debate I missed show up online, I think allowing the crowd to be vocal does increase the spectacle of the debates and therefore makes it highly entertaining. But as far as substantive debate, I think it encourages demagoguery more than anything else.

The Perry camp responds with an even dumber explanation in regards to Turkey being led by "Islamic Terrorists":
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – In response to a question about whether or not Turkey should still be a part of NATO, Rick Perry suggested some consider the country to be ruled by “Islamic terrorists.”
“Obviously when you have a country that is being ruled by what many would perceive to be Islamic terrorists,” Perry said during the debate.
Victoria Coates, foreign policy advisor to Perry, further explained the governor’s remarks, saying that some view the leaders of Turkey as Islamic terrorists due to their support of Hamas and the flotilla against Israel.
“The governor was responding to the questioners references to violence against women and to association with Hamas, I think both of which are things that many people do associate as he said with Islamic terrorists,” Coates told reporters in the spin room. “He was referring to those things, and while he would welcome the opportunity to work with Turkey on regional issues like Syria or Iraq, this kind of behavior on the part of that country is disturbing and I think we should concerned about it.”

I feel like many people miss the point entirely with Republican candidates, especially this year's candidates. They are not unintelligent human beings; on the contrary, I am pretty confident any and all of them could probably run circles around me in debates and intelligence, and I don't think I'm particularly a dumb guy. They know what the US can and can't do, what the president can and can't do, and what they would really do if they became president.
What gets me, and what should bother us all, is that they are still willing to not only appeal, but outright pander to the lowest common denominators when it comes to trying to please their own constituents. Moderate Republican values and ideals are ignored in favour of things like still riding this nonsense about 'death panels', or attacking same-sex marriage on the grounds it could lead to polygamy, bestiality or any number of other 'disgusting' things. Intelligent and bold policies are actually attacked and they are willing to say the stupidest, most outragous things, things that no real politician should be saying, simply to get the nomination. Moderates tend to be drowned out by the noise, and receive very little air time, and therefore little attention, which sadly translates into very few votes.
Course some of them really were that fricken dumb, which is why Bachmann didn't even make it this far.
Also, Gingrich really is the worst for this. Attacking Romney for speaking French? Is having experience and knowledge of foreign cultures a bad thing? And the 'kill them' quote... kinda sums up how he thinks he'll get some votes.

Hah. That was insane. Maybe not as informed about other countries as I would like, but we've seen that knowledge of them forriners is a liability anyway, so maybe it's a good thing.

Wow, there are some funny comments in there. Thanks.
Overall, I had a lot of laughs tonight, and really, isn't that what debates are for?

Now that it's almost certain that Rick Perry won't be our next President, I can't help but like the guy. It's like if a dumb friend of yours got to compete in the debates. It's fun trying to watch him keep up and guessing what he will say next.

The thing is, the GOP is currently trying to pander to the retirees in the U.S. The same people who see nothing wrong with saying the n-word and are afraid of losing their SS and Medicare benefits in the next 10 years. They rally behind cutting everything that won't keep them safe, financially and physically. They ARE conservatives, and not just right-minded folks.
