Disclaimer : I hesitated to post this question in the US Politics thread or here. I decided to post it here because I don't want it to go into a political debate, I just want a simple answer. So please, don't derail.

Why is the "alt-right" movement in the US called "alt-right" (as if they were an alternative to the traditional right) and not "far-right" ? I mean, they're exhibiting signs of open racism, discrimination, conspiracy theorism and historical revisionism. To me, that places them much further right on the political spectrum than the traditional right, and racism, discrimination, conspiracyism and revisionism are pretty standard features of the far-right.

Thus, why alt-right? And more precisely, why are non-alt-right medias calling them "alt-right", thus legitimizing them as an alternative to the traditional right wing?

The short answer is that names are arbitrary and not descriptive of the actual policy.

There is no such thing as either a Democrat or Republican, as there is no definition that actually maps out what a Democrat is and what a Republican is. A Dem in downtown Berkeley is different than a Dem in downtown Utah, etc...

As such, Dems and Reps are actually amalgamations of hundreds of mini-parties, each one with its own variation as to what makes them distinct (think of the splintered protestant groups in the US)

Each mini party has a name and each one affects the overall "policy" or "stance" the general party has.

Alt-Right is one of those mini parties.

Why are you trying to make sense of the American spectrum of politics in the first place? What constitutes for left over there is like central right over here..

People use whatever terms get coined. You could argue that the name ISIS legitimizes it too, but whether a term is accurate or not, legitimizing or not doesn't really matter. People just use whatever term sticks, and not only in politics.

I hate the automated politics other countries have. How your representatives and leaders are chosen by your parties instead of by the people. Totally bollocks in EU.

I like the strong focus on micro American Politics have where its all about that sick candidate control the public has.

I'm just saying that multiple-party-select will lead to lazy voting, unless you can only select one party at a time you can't show how strong your macroeconomics is. We can't cater to noobs, its not like most voters are uninformed or misled.

I want to buy a 2,000ish dollar laptop for work purposes, but don't want to save up the cash since I can only manage to work part time, are there any good financing options online? Any other general options where I can just pay like 200 a month on it 'til it's paid off? Whats the best place for minimizing interest? Is there a way to do this without having to pay interest at all?

I've actually steadily built up credit over the last like 4ish years and my credit is surprisingly good, so I'm not tooo worried about credit, just wondering if there are any solid options for at least low interest, I'd put it on a card but I don't want to deal with all of the interest inherent, Im sure there are good options, just wondering if anyone has any particular ones that just to mind before I delve to far into it myself :D

Neither can you really show it in the US. Either one of the houses in congress or the presidency is usually in thw hands of the other party so policy will have to be bipartisan. There are some exceptions like the new deal and Reaganomics but nobody agrees whether they were actually positive or negative.

Yes, I believe you can.

Let me know how it works out for you.
When you came along so righteous with a new national hate, so convincing is the ardor of war and of men, it's harder to breathe than to believe you're a friend. The wars at home, the wars abroad, all soaked in blood and lies and fraud.

If it's legit sex you can't get STDs, if you do get it it's because you didn't pull her bootstraps enough.

Best advice to give to an alcoholic that doesn't accept that *the impact of their decisions go beyond their personnel interpretations?

EDIT : Right now I'm leaning toward choking him unconscious.

You can't help those who don't want to be helped. The question is, would you rather watch him destroy himself or walk away before he does?
