I wouldn't recommend it. That's a classic example of conflict escalation. You'll install your urinal, she'll retaliate by installing a Jacuzzi, and before you know it you'll have LBJ installing a shower with 6+ nozzles each outputting the volume of a firehose (including one pointed at his immense penis) with the water temperature high enough to set off the fire alarm.

This sounds like an argument in favor of just saying "fuck it" and installing the urinal.

Maybe you don't have classified military funds to embezzle to pay for your washroom.

True, but I'm not a coward. I call her bluff.

What is proper format for replying to PM's. Should the conversation read from bottom to top or top to bottom?

Top to bottom makes more sense to me, but bottom to top seems to be the standard.

Agreed.

The reason it is different, is that when you hit reply to a PM, you get 3-4 empty lines at the top, above the quote. The cursor isn't placed anywhere (you need to click to start writing), but you are shown the top of the quote (it's not scrolled down), and there is an inviting space to start writing in.

If you hit quote for a forum post, you also have to click to start typing, and you are also scrolled up to the top of the text, but there are no empty lines that invite you to start typing above the quote.

So that's why they are different. It's just the most inviting thing to do when you don't know what's standard.

And I think we both agree that trying to change the standard will just end up in PMs with alternating replies up and down, which is much worse that all-up or all-down. So let's just stick to the most intuitive way. Unless, of course, you convince r1ch to remove the empty lines at the top of a PM reply, but I get the impression that they were put there on purpose.

Nailed it. My curiosity may eventually lead me to the ask TL thread if no one with an official answer on the space happens by this.

Short answer is no.

Long answer is that its actually impossible to "multitask" ie, do two things at once. Not the physical act of causing to actions to perform, but the physical act of being actively engaged in multiple different activities that both require attention.

Now, people are very much able to layer tasks and develop time-stamp based procedures. People are also able to "automate" an aspect of their actions so that they don't think about it when doing it (walking, chewing, heartbeats, etc...) and as such are able to perform multiple actions without needing to engage in multiple actions.

But if you're wondering about reading brail, while listening to an audiobook, while using one eye to read a book, and the other eye to watch an interpretive dance of a 4th book--well the brain doesn't do that.

My opinion is that the "old" messages you are quoting in the PM are not really interesting and therefore at the bottom. If you reply in a thread we dont know whom you are quoting and what you are talking about. For this reason it is quite important to have the quote at the top so we know the context of your post.
In a PM the recipient should know what the message is about most of the time (if you are quoting a previous PM which you received) so a context does not really need to be established. Having the previous PM quoted at the bottom is for convenience and good mannered.

Thats my 2 cents.

Practice.

When peeing, you've trained your body to relax so your body lets go of the fart.

When holding your pee, you've trained your body to obey direct control, hence you can control your fart.

Holding your pee (as in, not being actively peeing) is not the result of direct control but is the normal state of things. Else we'd all wet the floor everytime we have to think about something else than not peeing.

The internal urethral sphincter is a smooth muscle, and thus is under involuntary control. That's a fact.

I don't really disagree with you--but from the wiki:

Voluntary control
The mechanism by which voluntary urination is initiated remains unsettled.[13] One possibility is that the voluntary relaxation of the muscles of the pelvic floor causes a sufficient downward tug on the detrusor muscle to initiate its contraction.[14] Another possibility is the excitation or disinhibition of neurons in the pontine micturition center, which causes concurrent contraction of the bladder and relaxation of the sphincter.[6]

There is an inhibitory area for micturition in the midbrain. After transection of the brain stem just above the pons, the threshold is lowered and less bladder filling is required to trigger it, whereas after transection at the top of the midbrain, the threshold for the reflex is essentially normal. There is another facilitatory area in the posterior hypothalamus. In humans with lesions in the superior frontal gyrus, the desire to urinate is reduced and there is also difficulty in stopping micturition once it has commenced. However, stimulation experiments in animals indicate that other cortical areas also affect the process.

The bladder can be made to contract by voluntary facilitation of the spinal voiding reflex when it contains only a few milliliters of urine. Voluntary contraction of the abdominal muscles aids the expulsion of urine by increasing the pressure applied to the urinary bladder wall, but voiding can be initiated without straining even when the bladder is nearly empty.

Voiding can also be consciously interrupted once it has begun, through a contraction of the perineal muscles. The external sphincter can be contracted voluntarily, which will prevent urine from passing down the urethra.

Thanks for the peeing info

My next question. The word boob is not onomatopoeia, but it sorta is in a way because it's a sound you might associate with the object. Is there another technical term for it?
