Some make juicy targets, others don't. I'm sure you didn't intend this Mani but I strongly feel we shouldn't write off excessive bullying as a necessary evil although I do admit we can never 100% eradicate it. I question most current efforts to prevent bullying though... at least in places I'm familiar with. Excessive bullying can be 100% eradicated. You can't really prevent it happening the first time, but you can absolutely stop it from continuing for years.

I mean I'm not the nicest person and I bully some kids back in the day which wasn't right but do they actually corner the victim and push them around like that? I guess thats good ol american hospitality Did you just watch the vid and not read OP at all? This happend in Australia, how can it be american hospitality? And not just that you can't hear the difference between 'MURICAN accents and Aussies? Good ol' Canadian brain there.....

I did just that (after long periods of putting up with being harassed), at one time almost as dangerous as the slam to the ground in this video, I did get suspended aswell but when I came back to school no one bullied me ever again. Ofcourse at another school when I was being picked on by bullies I tried the same thing that worked at a previous school, I ended up getting smashed BUT after that still no bullies touched me as they knew that if they try to bully me I wouldn't hesitate to throw punches even if that means I'd get hurt. Bullying is hard to stop but it happens at every single school in the world and teacher's do not usually get involved unless something drastic happens (a fight or a scuffle which results in serious injury to either party) and they will then punish both the bully and the kid that got bullied. Many times our teachers would tell us, if you are getting bullied just walk away or find a teacher and tell them. If you walk away they will just bully you again the next time, if you tell a teacher then most of the time the teacher will just give the bully some grief and send him/her on their way AND THEN they end up bullying you again. Right now after viewing that video I was a little shocked and worried that the "rat kid" would end up either dead or with a broken neck and I think that what the big kid did was very dangerous BUT at the same time when I was that age I did not think of that kind of consequences, when I used to get into fights I did not think "Hey, I should be carefull not to hit him too hard because I could cause him alot of harm" no. I thought "beat the crap out of this bastard for picking on me and beat him so hard that the next time he tries he will remember how hard i kicked the shit out of him". I think thats what the kid in the video wanted to do too, just hurt the kid hard enough so that he wont be able to bully him anymore. I fully understand just how dangerous those fights were when I was younger and I realise that even more so now that I am bigger and a little older, I'm sure many of you read/hear the news that some guy ended up in a coma after being hit in the head at a bar fight or what not, that CAN happen to ANYONE, one wrong punch at a wrong angle can be all that it takes to put the other person in a very bad position for the rest of their life not to mention that your life would not as pleasant either with court/prison or what not. I just hope that the big kid doesnt get bullied anymore and looks back on that event few years from now and hopefully understands just in how much trouble he could have gotten over some stupid kid and I hope that the stupid kid who is bullying also learns his lessons and stops being a cockwaffle to others.

"Come at me bro" - he won't start the fight, but he'll gladly continue if instigated... That was one good slam... now all he needed was a pimp slap...+ stomp the crouch a few times...

Exactly this. I was Casey in elementary school (after this it seems most people grow out of the bully phase). I was never really fat, but I was always bigger than everyone else, shy, and white in a school with mostly blacks and hispanics. It's the only way to deal with bullies, otherwise anything you do will just make it worse. Tell a teacher/adult? Get labelled a "tattle tale", increase in taunting/beatings. Ask them to stop? Get laughed at. Beat the kid up during recess in front of all his shitty little friends? Won't even look at you funny after that. Too many bleeding hearts think "violence is never the answer", but it fucking damn sure is. Cut the situation off at it's knees if you're capable. Don't let it escalate to Columbine status. I'm not saying you need to fight everyone who has a go at you, but standing up for yourself does wonders. Especially at that age.

I know people who lost years of their childhood and teenage years because of bullies, a feew of them even driven to the point, where they were literally standing beside the train tracks, thinking about jumping out in front of the next train. And because of this, I really wouldn't mind if Casey had snapped that guy's neck, because he deserved it.

Obviously the little kid wanted to impress some girls, hormones and all...the big kid probably reacted because he was being videotaped and wanted to act tough. Both of em at fault. As for Almin, either you're just trolling everyone or you're not reasoning right. No one really sits there and analyzes the exact amount of force necessary to stop the torment when they are being bullied. If you are on fire, do you think of the exact amount of water to use to put the fire out? In addition you refute the conclusions of a well-conducted study, just because there is only "1 study" and "further research needs to be done." You should realize that in scientific literature the argument that "further research needs to be done" never invalidates the results of a study. It just adds to the probability that the results are valid. At the same time you refute a study because there's only one study cited, you are also eager to use some sort of anecdotal reasoning to suggest that fists and punching may be less harmful than a body slam. Where's the study that you found to support that conclusion? Why don't you use the "further research needs to be done" argument to invalidate your conclusions also? To not do so would be sorely contradictory. Instead of making claims that aren't backed up by hard science, I decided to do my own literature search on Google. From just a cursory glance at the first two articles, it seems that there may be almost no difference in injury rates between boxing and full contact grappling sports such as wrestling. In fact, the second article suggests that many more have died from boxing as blows to the head can be quite lethal. https://jssm.org/combat/2/11/v6combat2-11.pdf - "Boxing, wrestling, and martial arts related injuries treated in emergency de-partments in the United States, 2002-2005" http://jama.ama-assn.org/content/146/16/1506.short - "Fatal Injuries in Competitive Sports" The only mention of increased risk from grappling/full contact violence such as wrestling is the greater risk of sprain/strain according to the first article. No mention of increased fatality and lethal consequences. Instead of spewing out conclusions not backed up by the observations of many and good statistical analyses, why don't you prove to us that body slamming is indeed much more lethal than punching to the head/chin area? By your own standards why don't you provide more than one study? Of course, not that it matters. Self-defense dictates that you use force necessary to stop the immediate attack (such as the body-slam). What isn't allowed and is reprehensible is further action once the immediate threat is neutralized to further harm or kill the aggressor. This would mean Casey is justified in the body slam, but one could not condone further action such as stomping his face. Couldn't you see that Casey just wanted to be relieved of the emotional and physical torment? (He fucking walked away after bodyslamming the kid)
