So I'm looking to buy a pair of ~$200 headphones to wear while at my computer, and also around Uni, so i want something with decent sound (good bass but that's not TOO important, as i only occasionally listen to dub-step and other bass-heavy genres) I'm currently leaning toward Sennheiser HD595, is this pair recommended, or is there better at a similar price range? thanks in advance I'm sorry if this has been asked before in the thread, but I'm not going to go through 160 pages to -maybe- find the answer, and all results i could find on Google were ~3 years old and I'm not sure if that's relative in the headphone world.

You can't really compare loudspeakers to headphones. So much of it is dependent on the loudspeaker + amplifier + room (notice how audiophile loudspeakers at the store sound different to your room?) combination that there is zero possibility of answering that question.

Oh I see thanks. Sorry for the stupid question then.

If you're going to wear it "around uni" wouldn't something more portable be good? HD25-1 II would be your best bet if you don't mind on ear (some people dislike it). Else I'd take the D2000 over the HD595 if you think bass is important.

I had some PX200-ii, which are on the ear and tbh you can't really wear them for longer than 30-45 minutes depending on the day before your ears get kinda sore. Just be though.

D2000's isolation isn't that good. It more prevents sound from leaking than keeping it out. Might as well be open.

I can't wear open headphones because my ears stick out, it just doesn't sit right, and closed are much more comfortable for me personally, so i pick closed > open, which sadly means i miss out on a ton of great headphones ):

This is true, they may isolate som ambient noise in your house but that's about it. Has the side effect of sounding like an open phone though, which is a positive. If you get them for isolation you really need to look elsewhere though.

Umm, what does open versus closed have to do with comfort? Maybe you are thinking of circumaural versus supraaural?

What is the cheapest soundcard I can get that has a headphone amp?

Taking a more inclusive definition of "headphone amp" then one of those crappy < $5 USB options on eBay, probably. If it has a headphone jack, there's some type of headphone amp integrated. In most situations that's probably worse than most onboard audio though.
What do you need to be able to drive? Do you actually need something more powerful than most standard sources like computer onboard audio, portable media players / phones, and so on, or are you hoping for better sound quality?

So I'm not getting any sound out of the left ear piece from my Yuin PK2 I'm thinking there is something wrong with the plug, so is there any way to fix this?
I'm kind of sad :<

warrenty should cover it. You can also try cutting the cable and solder on a new plug

ughhh I don't have a soldering iron Is it difficult to change the plug?

D2000 outside might look a little funny because it's pretty big as long as you are cool with it. For an all-arounder the ATH-M50 in either white/black/silver I'd say is a solid contender. Isolation isn't that great either, but it folds up and sounds pretty awesome for the price-point of $120. Just sayin.
Replacing a plug is pretty easy and you can do it yourself at home just fine, google around and there are tons of tutorials with step-by-step methods. You will need a soldering iron and maybe some heatshrink and other tidbits if you want to do a nice job.

I saw a Xonar DG for around $15 after MIR and my buddy got it (along with the rebate) but it was from a Canadian E-tailer

First off, a soundcard by definition MUST have a amplifier and a digital to analog converter. If it didn't have that, then it wouldn't be able to output any audio. Soundcards, imo, are overrated and you should stick to USB DAC/AMP's cheap alternatives like the FiiO E10. But if you had to dip into soundcards, go for Asus.

First off, closed versus opinion deals with whether or not the the headphone is for a lack of a better term vented so that the drivers are exposed to the air.
Some common characteristics of closed headphones are :
-lots of bass impact -"cavern effect" -isolation -smaller soundstage
Some common characteristics of open headphones are :
-larger, airier soundstage -no "cavern effect" -better high-end extension and detail in several (but not all) cases -bass rolls off -less bass impact
That is of course in general. Open headphones can have perfectly fine bass but usually it won't be able to have as much attack and will decay differently.
You were probably thinking of circumaural vs supraaural or over ear versus on-ear.

Probably a short in the wire. In general it's always the cable that's the first to go and in all likelihood not the fault of the driver. If you are handy, you could recable it...
