Thoughts? Predictions for use? Limits to possibilities? Approaching a steampunk future? Crime fantasies? Pairing this up with other technology?

Ah yes. I did some research on the XoS-1 a couple years ago. It's a cool idea, but it's not like a military combat suit in the sense most people think it is. It's actually more of an industrial powered lift that you wear. It still could have MASSIVE commercial application and of course has use in military applications as well.

It'd be great if these things became affordable so that an average person could rent/buy one just to do yardwork or move furniture or whatever need be. I think in 25 years that's not unreasonable.

Now as for a combat suit, they're still awfully bulky and extremely power hungry. You also have to keep in mind that these things would stick out like a sore thumb, which is really awkward in today's urban/guerrilla combat scenarios. If you want something that's designed to withstand incredible forces and do what a person can do, make a robot.

So, in other words, these things are like the weak SC2 scv and not the beefy, manly BW scv?

Well butter my biscuits...

I'm really interested to see what's going to come of this in the future. Perhaps in the future the military will be able to train you to be an SCV in 17 seconds. Think about it, you could build a building all by your lonesome before you have time to finish your first of many chain smoked cigarettes.

In the rear, with the gear!

Related: I have an uncle who works for Raytheon. Not even his wife knows what he does for them. If you ask him, he'll say he works for Raytheon. If you ask him what his job is, he'll say that he works for Raytheon. Nobody even knows if he works on land, air, or sea. But his degree is in aero engineering, so...

But nobody knows for sure.

They'd have to make it a lot slimmer for recreational use around the yard lol. I wouldn't be able to stop myself from breaking everything around me in one of those things.

Yes, it's the weak Sc2 SCV. Technology has to start from somewhere XD. Remember in the storyline, the marine armor is re-going constant upgrades as well. That being said, Mechas maybe in my lifetime? XD Of course, I would not want to be on the receiving end of one in a battlefield...

Sounds about right. Looks pretty cool, but definitely not SC:BW strong

My mom used to work for Raytheon. She said the engineers were split up into groups so that each individual group only knows about the part they work on. It's pretty intense developing technology for the government.

Defense contracting is what my father does and his father did. I'll be doing the same most likely. It's genetic =P

It's a really cool field and if you're an engineer, especially electrical, computer, or computer science, it's a huge part of the job market. I live around D.C. so that's pretty much the dominating force. People view defense budget and war as a bad thing, but it fuels a massive sector of the engineering economy, facilitates the development of hundreds of new technologies, and really is the key to keeping us safe and ahead of our enemies.
