Haha.. my name I chose when I was registering on my first forum (neopets omg) Switch was taken and 221 was easy to remember. But Switch was the only character that wore white in the first movie. She didn't play a large role and died in the middle of the movie, but thought she was awesome.

I've had other random ids for characters on MMOs. But Switch is my raver personality and my online personality.

Well me and my friends were sitting around saying stuff like butter my toast and stuff like that and we started making new ones. They were kind of bad at it and kept saying stuff like sink my ship and such. The format was "VerbMyFooditem." It was not supposed to be blatantly obvious like "LICKMYSTICK" and the first and last words had to start with the same letter. We came up with

When I was about 14 and started getting into programming, I called myself "functioN" (big N's were cool back then). Probably about 5 years later some guy on an american CS team who's alias began with a K started using the name "kmode", so I started occasionally calling myself "fmode" as a bit of a joke. I guess at some point I settled halfway on "funcmode" and it's been that way ever since.

I used to nick jester but after realizing that alot of people also liked to nick jester I eventually went ahead and tried to figure out a new name but had no luck. until I drank a bottle of swedish Fruktsoda (wich means fruitsoda in swedish btw) and alas. Fruktsoda was born!

I just got SC2 and it was downloading, so I was on TL.net and thought: "I want a cool* name like some of these guys."

I proceeded to sit around for an hour thinking... and thinking... and thinking...

Anyway, I decided that I needed to stop sitting around trying to think of a word. So, I started playing a couple missions of Brood War and put some music on. Three songs played and the fourth was Nirvana's "Heart-Shaped Box."

I was listening and playing the game until the chorus of the song:

Hey! Wait! I got a new ComplaiNT
Forever in debt to your priceless advice

Unimaginative? Mabye. But at least I didn't spend the rest of the day thinking of one word.

*I kind of failed in this regard. :D

When I was making a XboxLive Account I needed a Name. My first name is Finn and I'm a Gamer, so I decided to name me TheFinnGamer, I removed the "The", because everyone thinks I'm finnish and now I'm only FinnGamer.

i loved sean in the wonderful 'name of the rose movie
the ideals that he portrays in the movie were uber awesome to me at the time:
(remember he'd played bond just a few years before and i was 16 or something)
yet here he was, advocating the vital issue of books, that he (baskerville) thought books were treasures to behold
the calm demeanor in the "Escher" secret library, when making his student read a book to find him with his voice..
the look on his face discovering the forbidden books or his look when seeing that everything will be lost through malicious fire cleansing...
he'd die for the books..., if you couple that with the investigation.... i was hooked forever

although i love "guillaume of baskerville", it's longer than most real names so....

since i loved the sherlock' hound concept

i "linked" the two by ditching the first name

although i love it, my mistake was thinking that one should differentiate from sc2 nick, now i wish i'd stuck with my fav' nick of all times (littlenemo) ; bask, basker... people shortening it make me sigh... plus, somehow, my perceived demeanor on tl seems to have brought the "bad" in it (i suppose people could think i choose it for that... my bad probably! but they'd be wrong, it's all sean)

i always choose nick's/names/codes/map names related to things i love/ have a huge respect for..

About a week after WoW was released my friends convinced me buy it. I couldn't think of a name at all so I looked around my room and had an old Magnavox TV. I was still quite young at the time but I took the last 4 letters backwards of Magnavox and BOOM Xova (pronounced Zova) was born

My name is Tim so I put an s on the front for stim (as in stim pack, originality is great) but that ID was taken on TL so I settled for Stimp, p was an easy letter to tack onto the end.

To preface this story, I'm very white and my real name is Trevor. When I was around 12 I was hanging out with one of my friends and his brother comes in the room and starts yelling YO TREV DOG WHATS UP etc etc etc. pretending to be super ghetto cause we lived in like a 100% white middle class town. I've never liked being called Trev so we just dropped the v. When I started playing CS my name was originally Tre-Dog but that looks kinda lame so I switched up the O for the AW to make it look more ghetto and thuggish. It really stuck and now most of my friends call me Tre instead of Trevor.

Mine is pretty easy, I wanted a shorter name, and since I had just come back from China, Hao (pronounced how) means "good" but then i kinda just liked being called "how" because I like to try new things a lot and enjoy the "how did he do that" factor so now it is "how did how do that?" So I decided to go with the english spelling, but still like that whenever anyone says it, it also means good in Chinese

Well, the name Nifel just kind of came to me one day. It's about 50/50 taken from the place Nifelheim in norse mythology and from the excellent black metal band Nifelheim. Used it for a while in BW and on other places. Then I kind of dropped it and started rolling with other names. When I got into the SC2 Beta I was listening to Finntroll's (another excellent band) latest album Nifelvind and yeah, I kind of just decided to roll with the name again. I've stuck with it for a pretty long time and I can associate it with a bunch of things I like so..why not.
