UPDATE: Alcohol will not be permitted in the event. At all. If we get caught, everyone is bounced. They will probably have people checking up on us. Don't risk it - predrink as much as you want, drink in the hotel and in people's rooms, but not in the actual conference room.
Actually, on second thought, can't we just drink in the hotel lobby/parking lot in between games? Let's do that.
Where: The Anaheim Marriott. 700 West Convention Way, Anaheim, CA 92802. Salon 1&2 on the main floor. When: Friday, August 21 @ 10:00 pm - Saturday August 22 @ 6:00 am. The actual OSL starts at 2:00 am. Feel free to show up whenever you want. Seating is limited. We reserve the right to hold seating for staff! Schedule: 10:00 - 11:00 Arrival, introductions, technical set-up. 11:00 - 2:00 Live showmatches and commentary, classic VODs. 2:00 - 2:30 Pre-game interviews translated by LosingID8. 2:30 - 5:30 (approx.) OSL. 5:30 - 6:00 Winner's ceremony and interviews translated by LosingID8. Who: Literally everyone is invited. Pretty much anyone who is anyone in Starcraft will be there. This includes all Teamliquid staff, USA / media players, and the CJ team and staff. Cost: Free. Food / Drinks: Bring your own (a lot). What we need:3 Laptops with wireless network cards (Have a million)
Other Cool Shit: We have confirmed with Sean Oh (CJ Manager) that he and the CJ players will be coming. Because he knows there are tons of CJ fans on TL, Sean is going to be bringing some new CJ shirts as gifts - there will be some sort of contest (he's thinking CJ trivia) and top fans get one etc etc. That and you can buy savior (or kennigit) a beer. Reason enough to come. 1 High quality webcam (Have 1) 1 High quality desk microphone to capture ambient crowd noise (Have 2 shitty ones) 1 Projector (Have 1) Powerstrips and extension cords (As many as possible) We're counting on TL members to provide this equipment. If you have access to it, please PM Chill and commit to bringing it.
The condition of this room is TL staff members' liability. Please don't destroy the room because Kennigit has been itching to test his military training.
I'm stoked. Would be willing to bring a laptop if anyone who's travelled before can tell me how rigourously they check laptops at the border (Canuck here) because I'll have to delete some *ahem* files (and assuming only those who need to use it are touching it).

At the airports they only ask you to take the laptop out of your laptop bag. A laptop bag is the equivalent to a "purse" which girls normally carry on to planes so other than just taking the laptop out of the bag they don't really check anything else.
EDIT: Tada! The laptop I will be bringing to the party!
You don't have to be 21, but some stupid ass drunk 17 year old can ruin it for everyone, so don't plan to come here smashed if you are underage and immature. I will be mighty wasted but im 28 lol.

this is Spacec[Fright] on bros account and he pms's if I log him out (not sure why), and if I can find my wallet then I should be able to bring like 100$ in chips for everyone to share but thats a big if, ill look for it though =]

Hey at 16 I could handle my drink just fine.. as I assume most of the people can. Just reminding that because they said you don't have to be 21 it's not an open invitation for underage kids (who can't handle their shit) to be there.
Ever been to a large hotel event with tons of drinking going on where the average person looks under 20 ... only takes a couple people for the police to come cracking down on underage.

I'll be there for sure, most likely with my girlfriend, and although she might be majorly pissed at me for making her stay out till like 6 in the morning it will be worth it! Hope to get pics with iNcontroL (bring athena!!!), TL people and CJ people for sure!
Lameeeeeeeeeee, I'm staying at the Marriott but I'll be there with the girlfriend who won't want to go, plus it's so early in the morning I won't get any sleep for Day 2. Argh, decisions decisions... I might make it but it's going to be rough =[

1. They ask for a "rate" like... 1000$ 2. They are afraid that 200 nerds will raid their hall and make so much noise that Room clients can get upset 3. They dont have staff to control a "night service"
I say these options as I´ve been working in HOTEL all my life (I run one right now)

Pretty much. I assume some plan (like me) to probably crash out for an hour or 2 before Saturday's Blizzcon continues.
I would do that, but I can't nap. If I go to sleep, I almost always sleep for 8 hours, if not more. My current plan, that's bound to fail, is to pack a 6 pack of Extra Strength 5 Hour Energy, and just go from the time I wake up Friday, til the end of the con (or whenever I duck out) Saturday. Unless TL has anything planned, such as dinner or something. In which case, I'll figure something out.

That's the big problem we're figuring out now. Will update tomorrow.
If there's no drinking on site, which wouldn't surprise me, what're the rules on pregaming? Just don't be completely sloshed and obnoxious? Or is it as long as nothing breaks we're good to go? (I'm not talking about manners because some of it is common courtesy. Just trying to figure out what the site allows)
Last year when Kingkosi and I were coming down Thursday, we had to be up at 5am to catch our flight. I had been up since 7am the Wednesday, and Kingkosi came over some time during the night. We had figured we would try to get some sleep, but we just ended up spending the whole night playing PSO or something, and didn't sleep at all.
So we were sitting at the airport, waiting for our flight at around 7-8, and we both chug our energy drinks. Get on the flight about an hour later, and the fun began. I was fine, but watching Kingkosi jitter for the next hour next to me was a lot of fun. We went to bed around 10 that night (and got up at 5 Friday morning), so I was up for about 39 hours without much trouble.
I would have been able to do it without the 5 hour energy, but I've loved the things ever since that trip.

On Thursday is what I think he means. A ton of people don't pick their tickets up Thursday. So there might be a big line to get in there. I'm not sure what the line is like to get into the actual con, if you have your ticket, at a later time. Last year we went at 5am, and the line was already 100 long. We were there until close, but Saturday the line wasn't too bad, and we were able to get in and out without much wait.

yeah, you can pick up your stuff thursday evening (badge + goodie bag), but everyone goes into the same line on friday anyway until they figure out how to separate the people with badges and the people without. it's still better to get your stuff the night before so you don't have to lug your bag around

I think that it's not possible for Chill to drink enough for it to be classified as alcohol. So it should be fine inside the room. Might get weird looks though.

I was sitting behind you and Incontrol and you said something like "Who wants to fight me." The guy next to me decided that he wanted to be funny and say he did. You turned around and looked at him for like 5 seconds and said "Why are you wearing a muscle shirt when you don't have any muscles?" My favorite part of the night.

np on the sharpie, I had a few just for that - everyone always forgets to bring htem.
I let someone from Press (I'm assuming - he got right past security, and into the progamer area) borrow my sharpie the first day, then went over to watch Zero vs Skyhigh and I didn't get it back. That could be one reason I got only pictures and no signatures, but I felt bad enough asking for pictures, that asking for a signature too might have been overkill.
Thanks again Chill, Kennigit and the rest of teamliquid staff + volunteers for setting this up. Was really awesome when CJ came and sat down right next to me lol. The entire meetup was a blast from the Cj trivia to the hilarious commentating all the way through Day 9 commentating the finals.
Lol before I got entirely wasted I tried to help out setting up but I was so mentally gone that I fucked up at getting the projector like 4 times. I made up for it by negotiating with the kitchen staff in Spanish to get bags of ice. It was like this:
Kitchen guy: HEY WHAT YOU DO HERE me: I just need a bag of ice please Kitchen guy: LEAVE me: espera por favor, solamente necesito un bolsito de hielo por favor! (wait please, all I need is a bag of ice please!) Kitchen guy: ooh bolsos estan alli, el hielo es en el frente del cocina (oh the bags are over there, the ice is in front of the kitchen) me: gracias! (thanks)
After that I just went back there to get more ice whenever n_n Thanks a lot to Mark (Zealot cosplay guy) for helping me on the second trip!
I'm delurking just to thank TL.net for putting this on. It was, without a doubt, the highlight of my entire Blizzcon trip. Mega props to the CJ team for showing up and being ultra cool, and thanks to Ret, InControl, Day9, and whoever else was up there for the other entertainment before and during the finals.
This was my first experience at a starcraft community meetup. I had a fantastic time even though I left before the games started. CJ trivia, m0nion vs. incontrol -> ret taking over then idra vs machine commentated by incontrol was hilarious. gg everyone!

Was really awesome when CJ came and sat down right next to me lol. The entire meetup was a blast from the Cj trivia to the hilarious commentating all the way through Day 9 commentating the finals.
