Am I the only 1 who thought Eduardo falled on his own legs ? For me it seemed like he 'kicked' with his other leg to his other, hard to explain in english. ROFL at Celtic complaining, the game was alreadty lost, they had 180mins time to make some goals, but only got 1 pity goal on last minute on second game....
Group F is really deadly, playing at Russia/Ukraine at winter is never easy, especially when u r from south.
edit; watched youtube link, well i dunno, maybe he dived... didnt really make any difference on the game, Arsenal was few class better team..

I love how Gerrard dives for years and beats down a guy in his own bar but he gets off easier than Eduardo who was TAKEN OUT of the game for 18 months and dives once.
|
True,
Years ago when Figo played at RM. He told that on interview that diving was defence meganism that some good players have vs killer tackles etc.
Imho, theres lot of bigger problems at football then diving. Like those career ending tackles....
|
I agree, punihsing divers via video review will cut diving, at least most of it.
Sneijder to Inter and Robben to Bayern. This reduces Real Madrid potential a lot, adding the posible exits of Miguel Torres and Van der Vaart, it leaves open the Ribery signing. Instead I hope they get David Silva.

With that in mind it's different if you cheat and don't get away with it. If the ref gives a diver a yellow then you don't need to review it. If the player does manage to confuse the referee either by pretending to be injured, hit when they aren't or diving AND he gains an advantage by someone else getting sent off or getting a penalty then that player should be penalized retrospectively.
Cool, and it answers one of my question. But lets say, if he dives, and the ref saw it, didn't give a yellow nor penalty, can the tournament organisation still review it? When Gillardino fell down against Celtic (I believe), and the ref did give him a yellow card. What if he never asked for it and he fell down because his footing was wrong or that part of the grass wasn't so great? He can't exactly protest his innocence.
"cheaters should never prosper"
I like that, but how do you consider 'cheating' can be defined. Is Terry or Carragher hacking down a player in the box 'cheating'? What if he gets away with it? He doesn't confess, thats cheating right? At least cheating in the sense of moral right. Savage has been kicking out players left right and center all the time, is he cheating? or just abusing the system and laws of the game?

Yea, I remember that as well.
And I also remember Fowler vs Seamen and Fowler later said he never intended to dive (he told the ref that it wasn't a penalty at that time) but as a forward you instinctively jump whenever you expect impact as your foot won't get stuck in the groud and prevent injury.

yeah i chuckled a good bit when i read this
eto'o vs ibra!!
i hope eto'o comes out on top, but i think we can agree ibrahimovic is a lot better.
although, i still dont see how he fits in barca.
|
he looked good though in the supercup vs Atl.Bilbao. juts needed some time to adapt.
i'll root for barca but want also eto'o to score a goal also ;p
|
Also Ac Milan vs Real. Kaka gets to make comeback straight away. And also old RM player Heinze plays now on Marseille. :D

Yes of course they should react to any two footed or dangerous tackle. They already do penalise after the match for hacking players down. It's just really inconsistent.
Some of the comments above me are pathetically bad: "Oh Eduardo's been injured for ages, poor him, let's let him off" "He fell on his own legs!" "I can't believe the press is making a meal out of this but not Gerrard" That's just utter nonsense. "I can't believe the Celtic manager is complaining about the loss" He didn't at all. He came straight out after the match and said we can't blame the referee because we weren't good enough.

I hope real vs ac milan will be more about Ronaldo vs Ronaldinho and Pato vs Benzema :D

He doesn't get away with it off the pitch though. That's the reason a lot of the north hates him and he ends up in fights all the time.

Many players dive, suddenly Eduardo dived and everyone is targeting him, I mean... Eduardo dived only 1 time whereas Gerarrd dived multiple times, making him a serial diver. FFS, even Ashley Young dived yesterday. I like how the commentators (ITV) mention it soooo frequently during the game.
The Rooney dive that ended up Arsenal's unbeaten run? Liverpool's CL dives (1 VS Arsenal, Babel)?
I am not justifying his actions, but the media reaction is really...
Anyways, this article sums up what i am trying to say nicely. http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/sport/robkelly/100001400/arsenals-eduardo-should-be-punished-for-his-dive-but-the-furore-over-the-incident-is-hypocritical-and-embarrassing/

Group I is the most interesting imo.
As for the Champios League. Barca vs Inter, Real vs Milan is lol, although Real has an easier group than Barca. I hope this winter won't be hard bcuz playing in Ukraine and Russia in December is not comfortable at all, especially if you are used to playing in a warm climate like Spanish. All in all, many great games ahead of us! Thank God for football
