I believe you mean Activision.

So you know there is no interviewer, they're questions asked by multiple people.

We shouldn't hate on the man for dissing D3, he's obviously disgruntled and going to be biased lol.
It'll be interesting to see if this isn't just senseless rambling.
I mean I can sort of understand what he means by the game feels more like Torchlight than D2. If you've ever played these games you'd understand that Torchlight's atmosphere is vastly different to D2's. D2 has a very open feeling with levels being massive while Torchlight's levels feel like they're only as big as they need to be.
From watching gameplay of D3 it seems a lot slower paced and the levels seem to be more narrative as in Torchlight.

Sounds like a wownerd who will never be satisfied with computer games ever.

That's one of the most uninformed comparison i have ever read. The difference between Doom and Deus Ex is so huge that people still wonder today if they are of the same genre. You are comparing a primitive shooter with the apex of video gaming. Ridiculous. On the other hand D1 and D2 are both hack and slash with a different engine but working the same way and still in 3D iso.
So what are the differences ? More items ? More monsters ? More levels ? This is not even 1% of the difference between the first shooters and Deus Ex. It is merely cosmetic lol.
BG and BG2 are pretty much the same so i will give you that. I mean for sure i can find tons of small differences and details but overall it is the same genre and almost the same engine.

The leak doesn't seem that fake to me, but it does seem like fake or not it doesn't matter. I'll form an opinion of the game after I actually play it...
it's quite a while from release still anyways.

complaining about boring bosses but saying he wants it to be more like D2? dont get me wrong i love my D2 and still play, but seriously, the bosses are the most boring part. They all have maybe 2-3 different attacks, the only real difference being what type of damage they deal. He's either an idiot and you can take from this that the game is great and hes jsut dumb, or hes trolling.
|
I must say i call fake on that shit, there was no details except for maybe some story. + Show Spoiler + I think most people knew/think Corrupted Tyreal would be last boss
No way D3 is gunna fail, its gunna be the best game after D2 made sofar!

Diablo 3 will have plenty of new features;
- Traits and abilities are now seperate (Traits, are passive bonus, Abilities are your skills) - Runes now modify your spell significantly, adding a huge amount of diversity (Bashiok said there was about 550 skill and variations in the game) - Crafting is a new feature in Diablo 3
Some things are changing: - Ui is different - Drops are individual - Charms are now placed in an inventory trinket instead of the main inventory - The game is no longer balanced around town portals and potions
Otherwise, there's all the other stuff you can expect from a newer game; updated graphics, plenty of items, new story and acts, new classes, new skills, new foes and bosses. This is what I know so far. Blizzard also acquired a lot of experience on boss fight with World of Warcraft. The raid boss in WoW are impressively complex and if they can bring that experience into Diablo, then we should expect some challenging encounters.

I remember reading somewhere that instead of a horadric cube, you get some other cube that breaks down random items you find into crafting components. If that's true then packrats (like myself) can finally rejoice that those piles and piles of worthless "cracked" armor can finally be of use!
Reusable socketable items also sounds really baller.
Also, I'm excited for D3 coming with more options to customize your characters appearance. I remember in D2 where your character's appearance was limited to a few looks depending on the level of your gear and the color of the gems you socket in them.
Since I'm not much of a hardcore D2 player, I don't think there would be anything that would disappoint me.

I'll buy the game the very day it is released, regardless of critics. The SC2 campaign alone was worth paying 60$ for it -_-.

I like the idea of individual drops... so that everything doesn't turn into a huge grabfest whenever you pop Diablo in a MF run. is it confirmed or not that skills can be remapped? it would be pretty awesome to make a new character build without having to powerlevel every time through cows as it was with D2, although i'm sure some sort of limitation has to be put on how many times it could be done.
what does "game no longer balanced around portals and potions" mean?

In D2 you could do town portal even in boss fight, go to town, heal, repair, whatever, return, do some damage, return to town and so on and so on. It will no longer be possible. And there were no cooldowns on potions, you could spam them like crazy - in D3 there will be CDs and you will heal mainly by health globes.

Cant wait for this I just hope they dont rush it with Activision pressuring them!

“there’s nothing in my contract that says I can’t reveal anything AFTER I’m fired.”
Immediate doubt casted there. No self-respecting business in operation today misses that little clause in the contract.

In diablo 1, u had 1 atack mode and some spells, where as in diablo 2 u had skills, runewords, charms, auras... sure there is a bigger jump from doom to deus ex, but the idea is the same: get something that works, and add new good stuff to make the game more interesting.

Makes sense to me. That kind of gameplay would translate very well to consoles since its just running around in isometric view, pointing in a direction and throwing various spells and abilities around the place. Out of all of the Blizzard titles is the one that makes the most sense to have a console port. The hardest part to implement (short of possibly redesigning a chunk of the underlying engine) would be the item interface with respect to the console controller - how do you pick up items? How do you organize them? How do you quickly and easily equip/compare them? Easy to do with the mouse. Not so easy with a controller.
Whatever they do with it, its still going to be awesome. My experience playing the single player and arena matches at Blizzcon last year is simply incomparable to anything else on the market today. They took the part I hated most about WoW's PvP (arena) and made it a blast.
