After those matches with MCMcEmcee I am convinced Samurai Shodown 2 is one of the most fun games I have ever played. That shit is so awesome. You know, that makes me think of how I got here..

I got into the fighting game scene really late - probably around age 16, so almost 4 years ago. I remember back then the first game that really drew me in was Guilty Gear XX - the incredibly fast-paced action, the cancelling system, the combos, the supers, and especially the graphics were very appealing. I started playing as Venom and later switched to Chipp (I remember reading Sirlin's "Play to Win" article and realising "Oh wow Sirlin plays Chipp too! He must be really high-tier!" Dead wrong.) My best friend played Faust most of the time, and we had a lot of fun renting GG out and beating the metaphorical crap out of each other.

Take note that up until this point, I didn't really have that much interest in fighting games - ESPECIALLY the classics. Things like Street Fighter 2, or even Third Strike did not pull me in. I brushed off SF2 as "too slow". No game that wasn't frantically paced could ever be fun, right? You just press one of 6 buttons and that's all the game has to it! How boring..

After a while, I began to branch out (mostly due to my best friend being like "Hey, you should try this game with me"). I played Last Blade II and TechRomancer and thought they were really fun. Eventually my taste went back in the years (note: even at this point I hated any incarnation of Marvel. This still holds true to this day.) and I played KOF, 3S, SF2, CvS2, etc, etc. I had pretty much renounced all of my previous views on fighting games. This is why I can find a game like Samurai Shodown 2 to be one of the most fun games I've ever played. Also it has dat catgirl.

there are some brutal combovideos on youtube for that game. Like killing bosses with one combo with the dwarf and they are not falling down and such.

Dude D&D:SOM is awesome. Every character has a bunch of different special attacks or attributes that all are useful in different situations. There's dash attacks, different jump attacks, normal ground combos, command-input attacks, and more. There's a lot of skill necessary to play the game properly (not credit feeding). It's hardly repetitive, as enemy patterns and situations are pretty diverse. You really do need to improvise, like changing up your intended combo on an enemy early into an air attack or backdash because yet another guy's about to smack you from behind. The game has branching paths, and there's a lot of secrets (e.g. secret rooms with special items). And you've got to plan out your money well for the stores.

Oh yeah definitely. It was 3 in the morning for me and probably even later for 3mc so I don't think either of us took it very seriously. It was more of a "mash your way through the game" type deal. Also yeah, I actually had a lot of fun using the Fighter after I discovered he has special attacks (Shoryuken-type swordswing, Whirlwind, slide kick, etc).
