SF4 is actually one of the least-fun fighting games that I play around here (compared to AH1/AH2, BlazBlue, MvC2, TvC, MKV, and even 3s), although it's still fun so I do play it from time to time.MvC2 is REALLY fun, but also really broken, so I know that if we played it seriously, we'd eventually get to the point where we dislike it. For now, though, it's great and we do play it.  A number of things about SF4 turn me off. - Imbalance. Goddamn Sagat and Ryu. E.g. if I get an air-to-air jump-jab, I get no damage; if Ryu gets an air-to-air jump-jab, he gets a half-life combo (Ultra whee). I know Rufus gets an Ultra off of jump-roundhouse (which I'm sure pisses off lower tier users), but jump-jab is a lot faster and beats j.hk consistently. And three of the chars I wanted to play -- El Fuerte, Vega, and Ken -- are in the low / crap tiers. =P - Ultras, especially coupled with Sagat and Ryu. All they need is one random uppercut SADC ultra and you can lose half your life. Furthermore, if the uppercut is blocked, it's safe 'cause of the SADC. - The constant mind-reading and lack of freedom / mobility. I find you pretty much constantly have to be reading and anticipating your opponent. You basically can't do anything except walk back and forth without committing yourself and taking a significant risk. I'm sure some people love this aspect of SF4, which is fair, but for me it gets tiresome and boring. | ||
