It's obviously a different game. SF (except 3s I suppose), is all about making the most with a limited toolset and carefully thought out positioning, one tiny mechanical or strategic mistake leading to death. I like the fact that you really really have to THINK about every action and position and possibility or you will die. Balance to me doesn't really affect my choice of game tbh (I think part of it is that I've watched tons of a local player owning the hell out of top tiers and counterpickers in ST with Zangief, both online and every tournament I've ever gone to). SF4 is quite balanced though, there's a few things that are ridiculous (Sagat's f.rh -> f.rh -> ultra or lariat juggle to ex green hand) but I feel that every character has very good chance in tournament level play. You may notice that there has hardly been any tournaments won by Sagat, Zangief, Viper, or Akuma players. On a low-level where players just picked up the game Sagat and Zangief might seem pretty broken and easy but that's because bad players will do things like jump at Sagat at terrible angles or try to c.fp punch lariats like you could in ST. This isn't representative of actual balance though. A lot of the complaints remind me of my friends saying terran is overpowered because they'd mass cannons and then siege tanks would outrange them. | ||
