matchmaking isnt up yet,
they increased the number of bans in bp to 4,
creeps now sleep at night,
spellshards (great arcana + -3/6/9% cooldowns -2/4/6 magic armor on targets who take magic damage from you, 1000g recipie)

So the new LoL patch kind of made me unhappy with the game so a friend and I impulse bought HoN and are attempting to get the hang of it. I've played the tutorial and two games so far, one as somebody whose name I cannot remember and one as Glacius, who was pretty fun and fairly easy to understand. Any good tips for a beginner/any other easy heroes to try out?

Make sure to deny creeps (pressing 'a' and then attacking your own creeps so you get the killing blow on them). This prevents your enemy from getting the killing blow (and thus the gold reward). Enemy heroes also receive less experience from a creep that is denied. As for easy heroes, I think Flint Beastwood is a pretty simple hero on the surface. He has excellent range, two passives, and his activated skills are fairly simplistic.

i think your list has some real flaws in it, he is looking for easy to learn simple heros, magmus for example, is NOT easy to learn, people perma fuck up with him even in my bracket 1800+ and behemoth is very tricky and you can easily put your team in a lot of trouble with a misplaced fissure, yet heros like keeper are super simple one trick ponies which are very noob friendly as he is super fat with high base damage and very tough to kill with invis/ult especially in low level games.

I dont really think you can make such a list.. Sure, some heroes are easier to play, but like me, i found a hard hero like ophelia quite easy at first, compared to other hereos.. So it really depends on how you play. But my only tip is try a bit of everything and find something you like.. Read up on guides ( Watch some of Nigma's video's, they quite good ) and just play, play play

well true, hence why I said it's from my opinion, plus I'm multitasking so ofc it's bound to some sorts of errors (watching SC2 GOMtv Code A, trying to decide on a new comp, cleaning up current comp all at the same time = =)
about behe -> true, good point.
keeper -> imo not that good for beginners, as they would prob think the eyes are useless, and use the invis at random wrong times, etc.
though true, it could work, but I'd rather going with the easier heroes

well ophelia is easier imo if you can micro it, as well as you could go for maxing 1st and 2nd instead of controlling minions though, true, but imo she's a jungling, and I'm actually prone to calling all jungling chars not easy/for simplicity purposes.

To me, newb friendly heroes are not only heroes that are easy to control/have easy to land spells in lower level games, but they're also heroes that if you screw up, you can still be very useful to your team.

Even if you're feeding, engineer always has his extremely useful tinker and ulti, Slither can still place wards all over the place and ulti, same goes for Keeper (plus he's really hard to kill with invis and buff), Glacius has the aura, the list goes on.

anyone else hating the in-game changes that were made in 2.0?

new minimap is so bad... after so many years of dota/hon i wouldn't change the default minimap for anything else.

items being displayed when hovering over a hero model?

i pray that they will put options in the next patch so we can configure the game to look NORMAL when playing it... i could care less about the skins and everything to do with goblin coins, etc.

s2 is getting flamed hard on their forums, makes for funny reading if you're bored.
