[TLn]Nightreaver here good sir. Sorry I didn't reply earlier but had to sit out my temp ban
btw. my HoN frustration continues as I constantly get awesome players on the team. Some examples include: - Vindicator who doesn't bother buying wards/chick the entire game, leaving me (as Jera) to get both, resulting in me being underfarmed and underleveled = can't do shit in teamfights with my item-dependant hero. - Kraken who thinks he can easily go 1v5 just because he was mid and is 1 level higher than others. - Pebbles getting Frostburn and Demonic as his priority items (Deconduo should remember this one)...
Seriously, there should be a button, which you can click after the game next to each hero so in the future you can't join games they're in and vice versa.

jere is not as item-dependent as vindi actually. You can get away with just an arcane ring late game, where as vindi needs force staff + guinsoo/a lot of hp or he dies instantly/does no damage. Not saying he shouldn't help with wards and stuff, but jere isn't really item dependent overall.

Vindi requires barely a little more farm than jera. Making one support take the cost of all wards/chick throughout the game costs about 1400-2000 depending on game length and your ward uptime.

i played with this pharoah... at the very start of every teamfight he would blow his ult on the fed devourer. The rest of their team is like glacius, flint, nymphora and we're losing teamfights pretty badly... so I ask him to initiate on and focus squishies instead, and he promptly replies with "don't worry. I can take him."
A telling glimpse into the depths of the pub psyche. -_-

Hmm... I've been pretty successful with vindi with just boots, 2x bracer and chalice (after all, he really needs to just ult at the right time and be near the fight for his aura to kick in). Jera is another story, you need to be tanky to survive and have large enough mana pool/mana regen items to be able to sustain your skills throughout a team fight. It's very hard to get any useful gear if you're: a) buying both courier and wards b) counter-warding c) babysitting some carry and giving him kills This way you don't get much farm (and what you get you spend on wards) and get a lot of downtime placing wards which results in being under-leveled. RoS is a no-go in such situation (farming the brain would take too much time) so you have to stick to chalice and some cheap +stat items. Lower level doesn't help much either, as you just get focused in fights and drop really fast if enemy team is nuke/aoe/disable heavy (as you put your charm on a carry). All in all, a great pain to go through the game like that (not saying it's impossible, just very unpleasant).

I haven't played/seen any competitive Jera/omniknight.

Blood chalice doesn't seem like a great item on vindicator. You don't need the mana early on unless you're spamming word, and then you're probably wrecking your lane anyway, and mana pots should be sufficient. He's not a nuker or ganker, maybe not near the kill if his word last hits, and should have a fine mana pool/other items once he starts using w more. Yes/no?

Anybody have a list of like, heroes from dota that were directly ported but reskinned/renamed in HoN. Been watching some hon matches lately, hard to tell from my dota days who's who, only one i've nailed is like, behemoth is the old raigor/tauren chieftan.
if anybody knows a list on google or something that'd be gosu :x

The difference between strong support and weak support is their ability to farm in slow times of the game. A jere with just a few items (even + stats and stuff) can still cast all his spells to help his team. A vindi in a team fight is just an ultimate and then all he is is dps (his aura helps, but you can easily get focused down, much faster than a jere). If he has no items, he just is an ult then your team fights 4v5, whereas jere helps your team the entire fight. Also, you can farm the jungle very well with jere, something a vindicator cannot do.

Wow that was fast, thank you

it is apparent that all the lower-end dota players switched to hon competitively because they had no success in dota. aka Testie, bkid, plenty of others. now we see some of them switching back to dota in preparation for dota 2 and getting crushed in north american in house leagues.
dota 2 will easily surpass hon and players like testie that can only rice will continue to fail in dota 2
|
huh? Testie can do just fine. I don't even know where this insult came from towards him, but I've played and crushed NA IHLs and played with some of the best NA players and testie can do just fine up against them. I don't even get how you put bkid in that sentence since he really isn't that great anyway =P.
|
alventine ive scrimmed testie plenty of times back in dota and he was trash along with other hon-dota players. its a true fact. one hero he could play was meepo and it was trash btw my dota nick is ownage-juice (pandemic, emg, EG, shakens) if any1 knows me from competitive dota. i played hon too for about 2-3 months with my dota team, (korok, paintitgold, etc) and after a month of playing we crushed top hon teams like Loaded when they had played for like 2 years in beta. shows that dota players 10x hon players in skill.
|
So you're saying you beat him when he first started played dota with friends for fun? Sounds awesome, but everyone has become a lot better since then. I don't recognize your nickname, but i won't say you are good since ive never played against you before. However, putting out baseless insults of another players skill who you haven't played against in years seems to be a dumb idea.
edit: didnt see your edit, most of the top players can keep up with korok and his team. You might be able to beat most teams but there are people who have better individual skill than you o.O
|
What makes dota so much more difficult than HoN? I played dota years ago, and have only seen a few games of HoN through shoutcasts, what aobut the gameplay makes it any easier than dota?
|
if you havent heard of me or my teams you know nothing about dota competitively. and like i said, testie was trash in dota and a huge flamer. and this wasnt when he started playng. pretty sure this was when he was on an actual competitive team. you cant say that hon wasnt the game for dota rejects. only hon players that were respectable in dota are hann1, some members of MSI , loda, black and johnnyutah. probably a few others that i cant remember at this time
To zlasher- compare hon to cs source, dota as 1.6 the overall competitive arena first off is 10x higher. hon has like a pool of 5-6 teams. dota has way more so its harder to win.. dota requires way more teamwork and strategy. hon has way too many imbalanced heroes in the pool. i can keep going on but just observe the competitive atmosphere. and just playing hon in the few months i was playing, i could see a huge difference in skill b/w players of hon and dota. some top players in hon would never have made it big in dota because they were just not top notch and the skill gap b/w the top and middle was too high, (case and point: testie, eternalenvy, all of loaded, can name tons more.)
