See then what the fuck is the point of the stat tracking? Encouraging people to find friends to stomp a random collection of individuals?

you guys should stop caring about any stats. i don't view them as a representation of skill, just something interesting.

Says the seriousface bunny

i stopped seriousfacing in hon because it just makes people angry. theres no point, so i just play sc2 seriously

Screw glacius, I think my witch slayer babysit has netted me the most +PSR on my account

I think my witch slayer mid is better.

Stats make a lot of sense to me. You see a guy at 1800 psr with 0.5 kd, 99% of the time he is guaranteed to suck because he can't play anything but glacius. Ive never really met any obvious statpadders either(Im at low 1700). Plus seeing em% played helps me kick retards early on.

Being good at support is difficult, especially if you need to support terrible people. 2. It's hard to get 1800 PSR just playing glacius. Glacius isn't a game changing hero on his own. 3. 0.5 kd glacius players are probably better than 2 kd glacius players. They play their hero properly.

OR You can not play pubs to get better. You should play/practice/spend your free time towards what your goals are.
Eh? eh? How's that?
It's also always a mistake to make huge generalizations. I started dota by playing -apem's all day with the same group of friends. In fact I'd say I learned the vast majority of general dota concepts from playing those apems. Did I ever play -em again after the first 6 months? No, but I learned basic concepts from that. At least noobs have a place to practice, games like sc2 you can't even ladder offrace.
When Hon was free I got 1790 in under 100 games. It's fine to kick someone who has 80% em and 1900 rating but that doesn't make them worse than you. If you still think that then I can be the same kind of douche and say I played hon for 2 months and got a higher rating than you.
Stats rarely matter, think of it like apm in pro broodwar.

That's a shitty analogy ACKY BOO.
stats : HoN :: itamz : MMORPGs
APM : BW :: aiming : TF2

Plus seeing em% played helps me kick retards early on. this is untrue. i have a 2.5 kdr with hag, but a 1.15 kdr overall at 1750+ - why? i play random, learn new heroes, play with friends, just try to have fun.

stats give you a pretty decent idea of what a player does in a game. you combine cs/denies, kdr with what his most played heroes are, wards placed, and you look at his last few games and see what the game's ratings were.
there are 1.0 kdr all support playing players with 100+ cs average, but they have 0.1 wards placed, and you can bet anything they are garbage, at least at higher level games.
then there are the exceptions like me who play 80+% of games in the hard lane, with a super rando lane, or just a friend who isn't at the level of the game we are playing ( usually both lol), vs the upper echelon of players and what you get are shit stats. but even in these extreme circumstances stats give some idea on how good i am, because if i were really really good, i would be able to have decent stats regardless.

Stats are important. Knowing how to read stats is also important. Stats are awesome.

I play. Hit me up - "Rybka_Agame"
(Agame being a joke nickname my friend came up with when we were drunk... long story )

That's like asking everyone to not post like aborted fetuses on TL.net, not going to happen.

geez, cant you guys discuss bracers or runed axe build orders? its really hard to figure out who is being stupid and who is just pretending with this topic, and thats just no fun

Well, I'm talking about 1800 psr pure support players who join 1700 psr games(my psr). The simple fact is that any pure support player is gonna suck at anything else, and so when they join my games, not only do they completely unbalance it(theyre not really 1800 psr - and besides, 1600 psr dark lady + 1800 witch slayer.. that seem good to you? carry isn't even gonna manage his last hits anyway), they tend to pick carries, because hey, it's 100 psr lower, right? But then they've only played support for their last 200 games, so they play like a retarded kid without arms. 1800 pure support players at their own psr I have no beef with.. if they play support.

So am I suppose to finish my third bracer at the 6-minute mark or the 7-minute mark?

If you get to 1800 playing pure support, you should understand gameflow (made up a term? sup?) well enough to play a ganker or semicarry or carry in a 1700 PSR game.
Any good player should know what the rest of their team is doing and their gameplan. Support players don't just stack camps for the hell of it. They usually stack so that their carry can come farm more efficiently. Therefore, when the 1800 support is playing a carry in a 1700 game, they know how and where they should be farming. An 1800 support player doesn't suddenly forget how to last hit just because they're playing a different hero.

Only people who play carries are ranked correctly by PSR? I disagree.
From my experience, an 1800 ws supporting a 1600 psr dark lady is going to work better than a 1600 psr witch slayer supporting an 1800 dark lady. A good support hero gives the carry opportunities to farm. It's difficult to make your own opportunities early on in the game and that'll cripple you for the rest of it.
Edit: This is why high-ranked people who want to win will take a mid carry. SS can just say "fuck the rest of my team", farm all game, and usually win. If the mid is actually good, say a cd or ss, they'll gank as well, but won't sacrifice his own farm because of it.

There may be a bias in high psr people picking a carry in lower psr games because they feel that that's the best way to win. However, because the majority of players want to play a carry, those aren't usually pure support players. The group that you're describing, 1800 PSR pure support players joining a 1700 game and picking a carry, is very very small. Plus, as I described above, they can probably play a carry more than well enough at the 1700 PSR level.
I think you're arriving at the wrong conclusions because of your misanalyzed experiences. Most people are bad at HoN because they can't analyze why they lost properly and therefore don't improve.
